The awesome Music Man John Petrucci Signature JPX-6 Electric Guitar commemorates 10 years of collaboration between Music Man and Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci. With a slightly enlarged contoured alder body, ebony fingerboard with custom JP inlays and 24 jumbo frets, the Petrucci signature guitar also has a select mahogany neck. The updated body shape has a slightly thinner upper horn and a more symmetrical bridge end profile. The guitar's body is chambered for added acoustic resonance.
The Petrucci JPX-6 guitar neck is super secure with a 5-bolt joint and a rounded heel that lets you comfortably access the entire fretboard. Black chrome hardware includes a custom John Petrucci Music Man piezo floating tremolo, and reliable Schaller M6-IND locking tuners.
The John Petrucci Signature JPX-6 is loaded with high-output humbucking pickups and a piezo pickup built into the tremolo bridge for both scorching electric and sweet acoustic guitar sounds. Traditional magnetic pickups include a DiMarzio Liquifire humbucker in the neck position and a DiMarzio Crunch Lab humbucker in the bridge position.
A specially-wired 5-way switch gives you access to the individual pickup coils so that you can combine them in both traditional and unique ways making the Music Man Petrucci guitar a sonic powerhouse. Traditional pickup controls include master volume and tone knobs. The acoustic piezo pickup gets its own separate volume control. A 3-way toggle switches you from the magnetic pickups to the piezo pickup, or combines both.
Dual output jacks give you the option of running either Piezo/Mono (output 1) or Magnetic/Stereo (output 2). Music Man includes a hardshell case with the signature John Petrucci JPX-6 guitar.

I unfortunately do not own one of these myself, but found a used one at my local guitar center earlier today. It was, to be honest, my first time playing a JP, but I was absolutely blown away. I plugged it into an Orange stack they had set up, and it even had the generally flat and muddy Orange tone (Not that that's a bad thing!) bursting with unique flavor. I was completely and utterly impressed, and definitely plan on buying one of these very soon.
I knew when I saw and held this guitar it was worth the money. And when I got it new in a box! I could not believe the care the Ball family took packing it! I hated to take it out, but it was flawless with great instructions on how to use the pickups, knobs and selectors. The one was warm and deep, much richer than my other electrics. The wood and design was sleek and light, and the size was just what I was looking for, because it gives me control, while still looking beautiful. I would recommend this guitar to anyone, and have not seen many that cure my appetite like this one does, The Barolo color is perfect.
I bought one of these recently and was very happy at first. Effortless playability, amazing tonal options and amazing tone in general. Also, the piezo is remarkable in contrast to the previous JP models that don't have a chambered body. My only gripe about this, and why I gave it a low rating is because the neck moves around a lot. It sounded great in the store so I took it home. A few days later, a few dead frets showed up, adjusted the truss rod and good as new. A few days later, same problem. The neck just needs constant attention and you shouldn't have to attend to it so often when you pay this much for it. I traded mine in and got a roasted maple neck JPX. No problems since.
Great for any styles, I play anything from Blues to Rock to Heavy Metal and it sounds great through any amp, its chambered body makes it sounds even better, love the ebony fretboard along with the maple neck, Fast and smooth neck, very lightweight stays in tune. Could not ask for anything else from Music Man and John Petrucci, they both did great job building this Awesome guitar.
Wow, this guitar is sonic heaven. The 5 way blade switch in combination with a tone control that works, ill make a plethora of great tones. the color of this JPX is just wonderful, deep and bright at the same time. My fingeres just glide over the Ebony fretboard. The quality of this guitar is top notch and worthy of being a Ball Family Reserve. The combination of woods, chambering, pickups, bridge, neck make a very dynamic and responsive instrument. I can go from standing alone to country roads one guitar
