Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci JP16 Ebony Fingerboard Electric Guitar:
Im a 15+ years guitar player. Ive played a Custom LP for the last 11 years which have 490R pickups, hot and high output. the JP16 gives that same growl and then some. the mahogany wood plate in the center of the body which holds the pickups really resonate the strings correctly. its the least muddiest distorted sound I've heard. the dimarzio pickups work with this guitar perfectly. if you scoop out the mids on your pedal/amp you will get very sweet tone on the higher octaves. the floyd rose trem system is the key to not only playablity but tone as well. make sure you have the floating trem system set up properly. if you are buying this guitar for playing metal, which is what i bot it for, you will want the bridge lowered and straightened to a point where the strings buzz across the neck but does not come out thru the amp. that level of low-ness and the tone of the guitar changes from "more of an esp tone" to "more of a gibson tone" but less muddy. i mean less muddy is priceless if you ask me. it ll get you playing without mistakes in no time because the muddiness covers up mistakes, this guitar does not. trem stays in tune after the strings have stretched out properly so don't worry when you have to re-tune the guitar from the head for a week. after the new strings are stretched out, i guarantee you this thing stays in tune no matter how hard you jam on the whammy bar. seriously. you can select pickups and boost tone by i think +20dbs by pushing the volume and tone knobs. very nifty and handy to be exact bkz it eliminates the need for a clean boost pedal if you are using one. the roasted maple neck is not only slippery than I've ever seen it, but also thin and fast, very very easy playing riffs as well as high notes ease of reach is great. the pickup selector is very nicely placed right next to approx where your pinky would be thus faster to switch back n forth compared to if it was above the strings. Im outta space or i had more great things to
