Overview

The John Petrucci Ball Family Reserve 7 Electric Guitar was designed in conjunction with the world-renowned Dream Theater guitarist. Signature model features fine tonewoods including maple and rosewood. A mahogany tone block runs from under the bridge to the neck pocket. Selected maple neck. A high gloss polyester finish looks great and offers superb protection. Equipped with 2 custom DiMarzio humbuckers specially designed for Petrucci (DiMarzio LiquiFire neck and DiMarzio Crunch Lab bridge) along with redesigned controls providing additional versatility and tonal options, the signature John Petrucci 7 sets the standard for the next generation of electric guitar innovation.

The Ball family is the last of a dying breed, a family business making guitars and basses exclusively in the United States. Ball Family Reserve is a celebration of their heritage in instrument craftsmanship which features some of the finest figured tone woods and finishes available. These rare heritage pieces are offered in limited runs and make available to the public instruments that were previously reserved for the Ball family and their loyal artists.

Simply the best

By eli

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci BFR 7 Electric Guitar:

I got one with an unfinished solid rosewood neck with a tobacco burst finish. The action is amazing and the tremelo is the best I've ever played. The pickups are responsive and the piezo is totally awesome. All the hardware is durable and flawless and the finish is strong and won't scratch easily. It's well worth the price.

BFR 7 is exceptional

By David Williams

from Camas, WA

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci BFR 7 Electric Guitar:

I previously owned an Ibanez UV777BK and Schecter Hellraiser C-8. They are both good guitars but this BFR 7 smokes 'em. I've seen lots of forum threads on Universe vs EBMM Petrucci 7 strings. Well having owned both I can dismiss the debate as absurd. The BFR 7 crushed the Universe in every aspect. It definitely has a different feel and is a bit harder to play but the tones and balance are vastly superior. I sold both of those guitars without reservation. I also opted to not purchase an PRS 25th anniversary Custom 24 10 Top in lieu of this guitar. That was a hard choice but I need a 7 string. For my needs this is by far the best instrument I've ever played. If it were stolen I would replace it for sure. If you want extended range, versatility and no compromise on tone or construction for it. It isn't cheap but it is worth the money.
