Overview

Imagine being able to change the electrical system of your guitar at the click of a mouse, creating new sounds on the fly.

The Reflex "Game Changer" guitar from Ernie Ball/Music Man has a USB port that interfaces with software that controls all aspects of internal pickup switching - series, parallel, in phase, out of phase, etc. After creating a setup, you can then store the particular pickup configuration in your guitar for live performance.

Though it may look like one on its surface, the Game Changer Reflex is no ordinary guitar. Equipped with the new Game Changer pickup switching system, the Game Changer Reflex guitar will give you an unprecedented number of tonal options in addition to the superb playability players are accustomed to from a Music Man guitar.

With the Game Changer Reflex guitar, players can unlock their instruments' tonal possibilities with the patent-pending Game Changer pickup switching system. Combining any order of pickup coils in series, parallel, in- or out-of-phase gives you access to the most extensive library of never-before-heard tones. Envisage having complete tonal control of your instrument without manually rewiring anything! True to form, the audio signal is never digitized or modeled in any way, providing a transparent analog signal path for the absolute purist. In conjunction with The Game Changer website, you can create, save, and share your tonal selections with the world! Includes case.

Music Man has outdone themselves with this guitar!

By JASON RALSTON

from Sterling, Colorado

Where to begin? Not a bad thing to say about this guitar. I love it. If you are a studio musician, you will really appreciate it due to its countless tonal option. Quality and craftsmanship is top notch and the guitar sounds and plays great. If you could only own 1 guitar, this would be the one to choose because it does it all!

An Absolutely Complete Guitar

By DAVIDS GRAFF

from Parkland, FL

Like every Music Man guitar I have touched, the action is low, comfortable and true, with great access to the high frets. It feels right from the moment you pick it up. What sets it apart is its versatility. As advertised, you can utilize 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 coils individually or combine them into any configuration you wish, in series or parallel, with each one in or out of phase. The piezo can be added to any sound or played on its own. The tone control provides additional fine-tuning. You can play soft jazz, country, all kinds of rock, blues, and more. This one guitar can give you a range of sounds that used to take a number of different guitars. All of these controls and all this flexibility may sound too complicated for most guitarists, but they are really very straightforward. The web application includes a library of settings by Genre and Artist that can be loaded to the guitar. If you wish, you can then modify these or design your own. Note that most people would not need to use the computer on a regular basis. First of all, there are 24 pretty good presets (plus one mute) on the guitar. You can tweak or replace any of these, saving the 24 you are most likely to use. As a practical matter, you would play from Banks A & B (with 5 settings each) and occasionally swap in a setting or two from Bank Z. You may decide not to reconnect. Interestingly, there is no user manual. All the documentation and instruction is at the website. There is a 3-minute video tutorial on the guitar, plus an outstanding 9-minute tutorial on the web application, which is the perfect medium for walking the user through virtually everything he or she needs to know. If you have questions, their customer service provides excellent email support. (One tip: Open the web application in Chrome, Firefox or Safari. It is not designed for Internet Explorer.) Finally, this is a classy looking guitar. The contours and the glossy black are striking, and as I said, it just feels right.
