Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Game Changer Reflex 4-String Electric Bass Guitar:
Immediately after pulling this bass from the case, I could tell it was going to be amazing. I like to judge a bass initially by how it sounds without being plugged in to a rig, and this bass has such a resonance to it! Then, after plugging it in and running through all of the pick up combinations, you can tell that this is a four string you can use for just about everything. The pick ups are big, beefy, and have tone for days! You can get a Stingray sound, a P Bass sound, a J Bass; I was even able to get it to sound like a Wal.
Aside from the sound, the feel of this bass is superb. the neck is slimmer than a typical Stingray, and is a natural finish, making it a breeze to play. The fretwork was particularly well done and the intonation and action were perfect. My only reason for giving it four stars instead of five is that because of the design of the body (it's a single cutaway that doesn't extend very far over the neck), the bass tends to balance a little differently with a strap while standing. If you're used to a P bass or traditional bass design, the bass tends to sit further to one side. With the Game Changer, the neck seems to balance further away and off to the side, so that your fretting hand will seem to rest more comfortably in fifth position (or higher), rather than first position. A small adjustment to make, but the only thing that keeps it from getting five stars. Highly recommended overall, however.
