Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:

Let me start out by saying this is without a doubt the best bass I have ever played. I originally had a Music Man Stingray 4H (3 EQ) and that was great- however, the renown "growl" was a bit too much for me, because I primarily play for church and that specific tone wasn't really needed. I was highly considering trading it in for a jazz or precision bass since it suited tone needed for this type of music, but I always liked having a unique bass as a bassist, so I was hesitant. I eventually stumbled upon a trade offer for a classic, and since it was in a color that I really liked, I took a chance and traded for it. It was easily the best decision made. The tone is extremely versatile and playing secular music was amazing as well- the slap sound was far better than with the 4H I had and just as great as a jazz bass. The much thinner 7.5 inch neck radius also made playing a lot better and smoother. Overall, the tone was far better than the 4H I had. I didn't think it would be a big difference- I mainly wanted it because of the color finish, but I was blown away by the unique tone the classic had to offer. For people looking for versatility (church, jazz, blues, funk, and more) but still want the unique, bass-defining Stingray as opposed to the ubiquitous Fender, I HIGHLY recommend this product. You will not be disappointed!

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:

I bought this guitar a few weeks ago, after some dilemma it arrived and I was very excited. played for about an hour,,,, what a great tone, than, decided to setup and lower the action only to realize that action can not be lowered to where I liked due the settle nuts being massive and sort of limited to how low they can go.
I took it to nearby guitar shop where they do setups and repairs, from what I'm told, with some shimming of the neck and some other adjustments that are beyond my capacity, it can be lowered to where I want. This is great news but I'm afraid that it may loose that great tone and I don't like to play with the originality of the instrument.
So, I may end up returning this one, but, again, it sounds amazing and the fit and finish flawless, I think better than my equally expensive fender deluxe jazz bass.

I hope this review helps someone.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:

I won't put down any other bass company,I do own other basses I'm a bass guitar custom build endorser my self, but for many years I start to pay attention to many Music man bass players,I have done my research and what some bassist said about the Sting Ray is a one way ride Pony they are dead wrong, even my Luthier has lot's of respect for the Music Man Company,I when to Paramus Guitar Center to buy a pedal and I saw Bob lamb a sales man that knows about me and the Music Man basses he said to me ,If you want to get it this month is your chance and there is not much time left over I took my chances and I went last day I bought it Sting Ray Classic I just can't be more happy that I made that move,a bass with a lot of deep bass tone.plenty of highs,is only a two band EQ but believe me there is a lot of different tones specially is you know how to place your fingers in different places around the pickup and bridge, the neck is excellent, and comes with a awesome case Thank you Robert Lamb.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:

I've just bougth a Music Man Stingray Classic 4 in mint green with rosewood fretboard. Some will say I'm dumb because this is my first bass, but I'm not. You don't need to be professional to be astonished by the finition and the wood's quality of an instrument. Yes, I could have bought a Sterling witch is a much more sheaper bass with a great sound, but I don't care. I've been playing guitar for nearly 20 years, I wanted to get on bass and I always loved the Stingray sound so I get one !
The sound is just awesome, the look either, so if you can afford it, go on !
(Apologize for my poor english, I'm a french guy !)

This is an amazing bass. It has perfect tone, strings, and feels great. I played the Music Man sterling bass and it was good, but this was amazing. I just bought it yesterday and I've been playing ever since. This bass is definitely worth the price it is good looking, sounds great, and feels great

      UNREAL!

      By Jonathan Thebom

      from Los Angeles

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:

What can you say? It's amazing. My fist Music Man product and I am seriously happy with it. My friend who works at GC kept recommending this bass to me while I was in the market for one. It took a little getting use to the set up being use to a Fender Jazz and an Ibanez for 10 years. It's a little beefier, however more comfortable and it only takes a few weeks to get use to the pick up set up. But the TONE... oh man, so good, it's just classic. I don't know how they do it but somehow they get these things to sound just fantastic! Any hoo - if you are looking for a new bass and are in any way considering one, get into GC and try one out, at first it may seem different but trust me, you will love it!!! Price is a bit much, but hey, American Made! You really can't go wrong. Unfortunately my Fender is collecting dust now. This is the type of instrument you will keep for the rest of your life. I don't even think I will consider another bass for the next 10 years. Thanks Ernie Ball!!!

Still rockin' after all these years!!

      By Kevin Delburn

      from South Florida

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:

Just bought an Ernie Ball MM Sting Ray Classic 4 string. My first bass was a Leo Fender MM '78 Sting Ray 4 string. It is still my "go to " bass. In the '80's when Ernie Ball took over MM some of the changes they made I did not care for. Personal perference. How can you improve on perfection?

I had the opportunity to play a classic reissue and had to have one. The feel of the neck is just like my '78 and I perfer the 2 band EQ over the 3 band EQ. Some of the modern improvement are just a plus. If you have never played an original Leo Fender MM Sting Ray or Sabre (2 pick-up version of the Sting Ray) this is as close as you will ever get.
      ,
I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Yes, major brands are very pricey. So shop for what you can afford.

      All I can say is..WOW!!!

      By Kevin Delburn

      from West Palm Beach, Fl.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:

Bought my first bass in '78 (I was 16). It was a Leo Fender Music Man Sting Ray. Been spoiled ever since.
I have played other Ernie Ball basses through out the years but they just were not the same. Different feel I guess. Never did understand the need for a mid control. How do you improve on perfection?
Took a chance on the classic reissue. Thanks guys. Job well done. The neck feels just like my '78..perfect!! Same 2 band EQ. Awesome.
Though there are some that sound close, there is nothing that sounds like the signature sound of a Music Man.
I would give it a ten but they are kind of pricey.

My love affair with Music Man began in 1977

      By Duke

      from Athens,Texas

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:

I think I said everything that needs to be said but did I talk about the birdseye in the neck?
Yeah,I'm old but please bear with me. Back in 1977 I owned two MM Stingrays (Never gig without a backup) one of which I still have and will NEVER sell.
The new Classics are every bit as GREAT as the 77's with a few refinements and a quality of neck woods that are mind-blowing (the birdseye on my one piece maple neck is hypnotic).
It has the newer style truss rod wheel that makes adjustment simple even though I doubt you will have to mess with it unless you put much heavier guage strings on it than the ones they ship it with.
(It was only a year ago that I had to tweak the truss rod on old '77-not bad for a 35 year old bass! )
It also has the same electronincs. Very interactive treble and bass controls with no center detents
      like the newer Ernies have.
For a "newbie" to these controls it may take you a little time to dial in your tone but belive me there is everything from Jaco to Jamerson in there.
The finish and neck fit is PERFECTION and did I mention the birdseye in the neck?
There are times when I just stare at it for minutes before I start playing. It's that gorgeous!!!
Oh Yeah. Did I menton the birdseye in the neck? I'm looking at her now and she's saying "Pick me up amd play me".
