M-Steel Skinny Top Heavy Bottom Slinky Strings are the perfect hybrid set for those who like thick bottom strings without sacrificing the ability to solo on smaller strings. Ernie Ball's M-Steel strings are made of M-Steel, short for Maraging Steel, is a superalloy used in high stress applications for the aerospace and defense industries.

The wound strings are comprised of a patented Super Cobalt alloy wrapped around a Maraging steel hex core wire, producing a richer and fuller tone with powerful low end response. M-Steel plain strings are comprised of a specially tempered steel for maximum fatigue resistance. A patented winding of steel around the ball end of the plain strings reduces slippage, breakage and stays in tune better than conventional plain strings.

Ernie Ball 2915 M-Steel Skinny Top Heavy Bottom Electric Guitar Strings Features:

  • Ultra high output guitar strings
    Constructed of Maraging Steel
Super Cobalt alloy wrapped around a Maraging Steel hex core wire
    Provides maximum fatigue resistance
Thick bottom strings with thin top strings for balance

  • Loved em, but then......

As reviewed by PAt Crowe on 4/29/2014

Let me start by saying that I have been a regular slinky user for years. I wanted to try something different so I picked up a set of these. When I first played my guitar with these on, I thought they were amazing! They sounded great and felt great, for a while. I've had them on for about 3 weeks now (which may be a long time for some)and they sound dead and the string noise is horrible. Every hand movement up or down the neck sounds like a pick slide. The strings also feel more coarse, and no, they are not rusty. If you are a "change your strings every week" guy, then these will work for you. On my way to GC right now to buy something different.

  • Superb Tone!

As reviewed by Joni Velasquez on 4/9/2014

Tone freaks look no further! Ernie Ball's M-Steels are the definition of "tone". When running through a Matchless HC30 and Vox AC30HWH you won't settle or compromise for less when the topic is "Superb Tone"; trust me. After 24hours of play It is safe to say that these strings are of the highest quality build with rich harmonics and phenomenal sustain. Compared to the regular Ernie Balls these feel thicker, due to construct, and easier to press against the fingerboard for sweeps throughout the neck if thats your thing. Quick tip: wrap as much string as you can on the machine heads for the best string resonance, sonic dynamics, and intonation.

  • They wear out WAY too quickly!

As reviewed by Daniel Klepner on 4/17/2014

I was very excited to get a set of M-Steels at Guitar Center a couple of weeks ago. When I first strung up, everything sounded great. Hot output and a great, clear low end. However, the strings started losing tone after just TWO DAYS of normal playing! Within a week and a half, they had the feeling of old, dead strings - no more snap and poor sustain. For the amount of money I spent, I was expecting much more from these strings. Very disappointing experience! I would not recommend them unless you don't mind spending thirteen bucks for two days' worth of performance.
