The Ernie Ball 2215 Skinny Top Heavy Bottom Slinky strings are a revolutionary hybrid set that provides the perfect combination of tone and feel for guitarists seeking thicker bottom strings without sacrificing the ability to solo on smaller strings. Brought to you by one of the most trusted names in guitar strings, these nickel-wound strings are precision manufactured to Ernie Ball's exacting standards for consistency, performance and longevity. The wound strings feature nickel-plated steel wrapped around a hex-shaped steel core, while the plain strings are made of specially tempered high-carbon steel for a balanced tone.

Skinny Top Provides Crisp, Clear Highs

The three lightest strings (G, B and high E) are slightly thinner "skinny top" gauges of .010, .013 and .017, producing bright, chimey highs ideal for soloing. These lighter top strings make it easy to bend notes and achieve wide vibrato, allowing guitarists to unleash fast runs and emotive leads.

Heavy Bottom Delivers Powerful Low End

The three lowest strings (D, A and low E) utilize heavier "slinky bottom" gauges of .030, .042 and .052 for full, punchy bass tones that provide a solid foundation. The heavier gauges produce deep, resonant lows with reduced floppiness, keeping your tone tight and focused when playing rhythm.

Nickel-Plated Steel Provides Warm, Vintage Tone

Nickel-plated steel wrap wire is used for the wound strings, which produces a warm, vintage-inspired tone that many guitarists prefer for rock, blues and classic rock. Nickel wrap wire tends to mellow highs and add midrange emphasis compared to brighter stainless steel, allowing you to achieve classic '70s and '80s hard rock and metal sounds.

High-Carbon Steel Plain Strings Balance the Set

The three plain strings are made of high-carbon steel, which provides bright, articulate highs to balance the warmer nickel-plated wound strings. Together, the nickel and high-carbon steel materials create a versatile set of strings suitable for everything from hard rock to blues and alternative music.
