The Epiphone Wilshire Phant-O-Matic Electric Guitar was designed in collaboration with Frank Iero, guitarist for multi-platinum band My Chemical Romance, and combines an incredible array of features that only Epiphone would dare put in one instrument.

The result is one of the smartest and most flexible guitars on the market with all the vintage styling that made Wilshire models a behind-the-scenes favorite of Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Paul Gilbert, and Steve Marriot.

Classic Form
Like the classic SG design, the Wilshire Phant-o-matic features a double cutaway design with a solid Mahogany body. The 24.75 scale mahogany hand-set neck has a 1960s SlimTaper profile, a rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays, a 12 radius, and a 1-11/16 nut. The neck profile and double cutaway make the Wilshire Phant-o-matic a perfect guitar for chunking rhythm or cutting leads. The Antique Ivory finish, black single-ply pickguard, and classic form are eye catching to be sure. But what really sets the Wilshire Phant-o-matic apart from the pack is how it sounds.

Great All Around

By Michaela Brown

from Gladwin, MI

I'd always wanted to pick up playing, but never really had the ambition until I started watching concert footage of my favorite guitarists--particularly Ray Toro and Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance. Knowing that I needed a light guitar (I'm 5'0? and have a back condition), it seemed natural to look at guitars played by others of my stature (Frank being one of them). My local GC didn't have a Phant-O-Matic in stock, but I knew that certain parts of the guitar were taken from a Les Paul and Wilshire, respectively. I found that I liked the specific parts taken from each model, but tried about five other guitars as well. I didn't like many of the others, so I took a chance and bought the Phant-O-Matic. The killswitch is my favourite part of the guitar and is conveniently located. I love the varying tones I get with the dial as well. I've had people say things about the color, both positive and negative, but I personally find it quite beautiful (it's more of a creamy yellow than the photos show). It's very light and balances well when strapped on. It sounds awesome paired with the Boss BD-2 or DS-1. I may change out the pickups at some point, however. In all, it's just a great guitar, both for the price and in general.

every guitar you could ever want!

By Chris urena

from Los Angeles CA

The knob on this guitar lets you change how the pick ups sound, it's very similar to coil taps, only with more options. On 1, it gives a full sound like a hollowbody, with it's AlNiCo 5 magnets. On 6, it's super bright like the single coils on a fender. That, combined with the three way channel selector and the tone controls make the possibilities endless! It also has a kill switch button! other than that, it's weighs the same as any other wilshire, far lighter than a les paul
