I got this guitar about a month ago and was just blown away by the quality of it. People think that epiphones are bad when they are great guitars. After like a month i was so convinced that thos guitar was worth upgrading that i sold my fender strat and bought some Dimarzio pickups cause the ones that come with it are a bit muddy (if you're a beginner you wont even notice so don't change them) so great guitar for a begginer or for an experienced player. Good guitar to upgrade.... so worth it! What are you waiting... Buy it!

The epiphone vintage G-400 guitar is okay - not that bad, not that great. This guitar has a very lightweight body, and a very heavy neck which makes playing it very, very awkward. You have to push your right forearm on the back of the guitar so that the neckboard will be ballanced. This makes it harder to strum correctly. When you stand up, the neck tips over to the ground, and in some cases could damage the guitar. The sustain isn't great either. On the high notes, they'll probably last about 1-2 seconds. Also, it untunes very easily. I would just buy a guitar with a heavier body, and with a longer sustain. I remember when I got this guitar about 5 months ago, the reviews were great, but when i got the guitar, I became doubtful. Just save up and get the les paul. -- btw, it isn't better than the Gibson.

A Simply Stunning Guitar

By

from Santa Rosa NM

Comments about Epiphone Vintage G-400 Electric Guitar:

This Epiphone G-400 is right on par with Gibson, if not better. Its build, its hardware, its electronics, all great! You cant beat this value! Its worn cherry finish is great and feels good to the tough. Its solid with a rock hard set neck and an added bonus with Grover tuners. The chrome humbuckers look great and sound better, especially on an overdrive pedal. The cleans are clean and the dirty can really get down and dirty. If Gibsons are not feasible for you and your budget, GET THE SG G-400!!!

Absolutely Astonishing!

Comments about Epiphone Vintage G-400 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is extremely great quality! Besides the worn finish and not having coil tapping, its like the G-400 pro! It plays so smooth and looks fantastic! The neck is a bit heavy and has a tendency to dive bomb, but a good thick leather strap can cure that. Its really solid and feels great to play. The sound is like something a thousand dollars more.

OMG! What a value!

By

Comments about Epiphone Vintage G-400 Electric Guitar:

After having my Epi Les Paul Studio for a year, I decided I wanted an SG. So today, I picked up this piece. I can't tell you how happy I am! I had to lower the bridge just a bit, but other than that, it's been a blast to play all day long! GREAT tone and sustain .... I just love it! I have always played "standing up", so I was concerned about the heavy neck and headstock that I kept reading about, but by the end of the day I'm use to it. This thing has a great feel to it, and for what ever reason (I haven't figured out yet), I can pick individual notes a lot cleaner with this than I can on my Les Paul. I'm a firm believer in the Epiphone quality! Next, a hollow body Epi, and I'll be complete! If you want a quality guitar to play and learn on, you can't go wrong with an Epiphone! I am an "average" player, and play solely for my self, jamming along to my favorite classic rock, and country songs .... Not sure how these would hold up for a performer on stage, but for the "jamming around the house (or garage) guy", I HIGHLY recommend THIS SG by Epi! P.S. ... The "Grover" tuners on this thing are AWESOME! I'll be buying a set for my Les Paul shortly!

AWESOME GUITAR!

By

Comments about Epiphone Vintage G-400 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar yesterday used from a friend for $100. It was basically brand new other than a small dent on the back. Let me tell you, It was the best $100 bucks that I have ever spent. The red finish is so cool and the pickups cut out any fuzz from the amp. I have been playing for about 3 years now and i own a handful of beginner guitars(Epiphone Les Paul Jr. Ibanez, etc.) but I can tell you, this one is not one of those. This guitar is perfect for intermediate to pro guitarist who want a quality SG but don't want to pay a bunch of money for a SG. Mine has no fret buzz and the fret board inlays are fantastic! Perfect for Rock n Roll like AC/DC and Guns N Roses Go to Guitar Center right now and buy It!

Not as bad as I thought

By

Comments about Epiphone Vintage G-400 Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar for the price, It's very good for, Punk and Metal. I love to solo on it but I hate to stand and play it, since the strap button is on the back if I don't hold the neck or hold down it down with my forearm it will slide down and hit the floor hard which never good on epiphone/gibsons. The neck also feels a bit hard to play compared to a Fender or an Ibanez. I guess I'm just not much of an SG guy but overall this is a good guitar if you want to play AC/DC, Metallica, and Green Day. But if your like me get something you are for sure that you want and love.

Great guitar for the cash

By

from Ridgewood NY

Comments about Epiphone Vintage G-400 Electric Guitar:

It sounds great, plays well, but has some imperfections in the manufacturing that don't really effect it's playability but are imperfections in manufacturing nonetheless. But that's what you get for less...if you don't care about a few imperfections, get it.

Best buy

By

from Nevada

Comments about Epiphone Vintage G-400 Electric Guitar:

Well, Guitar Center should like this review. I was looking for a solid body guitar with a bigsby, so what I did was I looked for a good quality SG Gibson style guitar to mount one on. This guitar comes with quality pickups and tuners which are good to go. I've had no probelms at all. Sometimes on cheaper guitars--which are built pretty fast--the connections might need to be re-sodered or the jacks tightened up, but I was lucky on this one--no problems. The trust rod did need to be adjusted; it was too lose. I like setting up my guitars my self, so why pay hundreds of dollars to let someone else do it? Anyway, a bigsby and roller bridge later and a few adjustments, this guitar is my new favorite (I have 14). If you have to work for your money like me--this is one of the best buys in the store.

Amazing, after the repairs...

By

from Buffalo, NY

Comments about Epiphone Vintage G-400 Electric Guitar:

This guitar was amazing but two of the knobs were loose. The treble & rhythm pickups were reversed. And the neck needed adjusting. I guess someone at the factory had a bad day. I give this guitar 4 stars because it needed repairs. I highly recommend this guitar for everyone. This was my first electric guitar & it's worth every penny. If you buy this make sure you take a good look at it.
