This guitar is NOT "The Exact same thing... but with a WHAMMY this time!!". It is a completley different guitar than the Special II. It has a solid Mahogany Body instead of Basswood, which calls for more sustain, 2 A Humbuckers, and a Pushkill, which is basically a Killswitch built into a volume or tone knob. Very Dynamic guitar.

Quick. Pros: Sounds great. The dual humbuckers give you more of an edge. I've played all kinds of music on this thing, sweet high notes to roaring low notes, and it handles them well. To me, the fretboard is smooth, and with good strings it's easy to play what you want. Cons: There are some issues. At the price, the guitar is definitely worth it, but keep these in mind. Low sustain. Compared to my old cheap Fender/Squire Bullet, the sustain is actually less. Tuning. The stock tuners on this are not good. Mixed with the tremelo, the guitar tuning will be annoying. Period. You'll be messing with tuning the thing a lot more than you would if you bought a $499+ guitar. However, at the price, you can buy new tuners, and just deal with it. Conclusion: At the price, you can't not buy the guitar. It's an Epiphone, with dual humbuckers. It has minor issues, as most cheaper guitars do, but the smoothness and sound make the guitar legendary for beginner/intermediate guitarists.

A Thing of Beauty

By Erik Carrera

from Fairfax, VA

I've been playing my ESP MH-50 for about 3 years now. It was time for my second guitar. These economic times forced me to go below $200. I researched many options and just kept coming back to thie Epiphone GT. I bought it and am just in love with it. The clean tone on it is amazing and the pickups are hot!!!! Any effect sounds great!!! I jam to Alice in Chains all the way to clasical. Sounds great with all effects. I use DigiTech custom distortion and it rips the hell out of it!!! Buy it!!!

great guitar... low sustain

By Jacob Ulery

from Gaylord, MI

This guitar is excellent, it has great low end while maintaining a good high end. There's just two problems, this guitar has a low sustain and it goes out of tune when you use the whammy too much. When you use the whammy you can even hear the guitar going out of tune making little clicks every now and then witch ruins the sustain of the whammied note.

Are you kiding me?!?

By I. M. Dissapointed

from Sand Diego, CA

Well i was in gc the other day and i saw this guitar and kinda laughed to myself but im not one to judge so i tried it out... i was even more dissapointed. i mean if you are looking for something that is cheap and doesnt sound very good or play very well then this is good i supose. and when you really think about it, how can you expect a guitar that costs sooooooo little to be any good? for the price, i believe it is average. if you have never really played an electric guitar and want to try to learn this may be okay because it is cheap but you may think that its yourself that sounds bad but its most likely the guitar so dont get self concious. save up and buy a REAL guitar, not a few pieces of wood with some nails on the neck and magnets in the middle with a metal stick hangin off the bridge. epiphone isnt a bad brand, i own an epihone sg and it plays great and sounds decent for what i paid for it and well you cant expect much more than that, but i thought epiphone could at least have some self respect...

the wrong guitar

By kacey cordero

from conroe,tx

I was going to buy the Epiphone Explorer gt but when the employee went to grab the explorer out of the back he accidentally grabed this one. We got the package opened and we noticed it was the wrong guitar.I decided to keep it. I have had it for about 4 days and so far it is a great guitar.

So Awsome

By Joe

from Chicago, Il

I'm absolutly in love with this guitar. Such an amazing thing to have and extremely cheap as well. When I fist picked it up I knew I was going to buy it and sure enough I did. It sounds great with pretty much any amp and also sounds great with pedals. When I first got mine the jack was a little messed up, but that was easily fixed by unscrewing it then turning it once. I recommend this to anyone who plays a guitar.

im going to get it tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

By juju

from CALIFORNIA

well iv seen in youtube that this guitar does not have a lot of review videos but the videos that it does have for reviews are great. This guitar is really good for the price i recommend it for a begginer that wants a whammy bar and a kill switch. This guitar has everything you need and it has the coolest effects. Epiphone is one of the best guitar brand. I am like in love with this guitar because it so cool!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 stars if you check it does not even have that many bad reviews here in guitar center.

Epiphone Special-II GT Electric Guitar

By Anthony Grijalva

from Baldwin Park

I just bought thing Guitar like 30 min.s ago and its just, great. I kind of wanted a more expensive guitar but i saw this one and played it a little then i bought, it takes some geting used to but then it only goes uphill from there. Before this guitar i bought an SG G-400 which is magnificent but gets scratched easily. and i wanted a guitar with a wammy bar so this was the guitar.
