Overview

Sublime tonal quality with quiet operation from DC-powered filaments and superb definition from a solid-state rectifier make the Epiphone So Cal 50-watt one of the finest amplifiers we've had the pleasure to play through. A unique EQ switch lets you choose between independent treble and bass vs. treble that rolls off the bass when boosted and vice-versa. Presence control lets you sharpen up the sound while 25W (triode) option lets you drive the power section hard without driving the neighbors nuts. Contour knob presents dramatic tonal options and the tube-driven reverb is silky smooth and natural. Multiple speaker outs for great flexibility onstage. Works great with the optional So Cal 412SL cab. (See accessory box on this page.)

Winner of a GuitarWorld gold award for overall value!

So-Cal Rocks!

By BrokenRevolution

Comments about Epiphone So Cal 50 Watt Amp Head:

From the first time I plugged in, I was in love with this amp. Im a guitarist who changes the genres I play alot, (Hardcore Punk, Blues, Ska, Rock, Metal) and this amp can get me the tone I need for all of them. The reverb is rather tasty. The only thing that is a problem is that the tone control is for both channels, but its not that major. The Clean channel on the amp sounds great, but the distortion is what stood out the most. I can go from a dirty bluesy tone to an all out sonic attack for punk and Metal. If your looking for a tube amp thats not too expensive, the SoCal is for you!.

best amp head for under 1k

Comments about Epiphone So Cal 50 Watt Amp Head:

i was simply amazed when i first saw this amp. beatiful, elegant then i plugged in the tone was beyond comprehension. i started pouring out riffs. its perfect for classic rock R-billy punk and hard rock. It's also great for sherd.the clean sound is a little bit crunchy but who cares from my experience the crowd never seems to notice accidental distortion. but if it still bothers you, you can just mic up an acoustic or have a backup amp for clean sound. if you don't like this amps tone, then you are either a very demanding guitarist, or deaf.ussually the latter.

Epiphone So Cal 50 Watt Amp Head

from bolinas, CA

Comments about Epiphone So Cal 50 Watt Amp Head:

I recently went to try this head at my local music store.I was amazed at some of the tones I could get with it. I ran it through its epiphone 4x12 which totally rocked. The clean channel is sweet fenderish tone the dirty channel goes from bluesy to thrash metal. The features are really usable like wattage switch and independent eq, plus the dc filaments make operational noise minimal.I ended up buying the beast, I love it, thanks Epiphone!!!
