It looks much better in person. There is more depth and it's less yellow. There is more of an amber tint. The AAA maple top is nice and the cherry back, sides and neck are finished very nicely as well. The cream binding is also attractive. The guitar itself is great. The pickups, tone, resonance, and the looks are what make this a 5-star guitar. The pickups do offer a tone similar to that of the AFD record by GNR. They are a bit hot but they really sing. The tuning pegs are not great but they are just fine. I will probably replace them. I did not prefer the strings that it came with. Overall the hardware could be better but the pickups are excellent and guitar resonates like a Les Paul should. Many Les Paul purists will turn their nose up to a bolt-on neck but bolt-ons have their own advantages. And it makes the guitar more affordable. It is not as versatile as my Epi Les Paul Standard but it's not as heavy either. The weight is around 7.2lbs for the Slash AFD vs. my 10lb Standard. In the guitar realm, for me that is the equivalent of a Labrador vs. a St. Bernard in terms of weight. This is my 3rd Epiphone guitar. This guitar is made in China. My other two were made in Indonesia (Epi Lp Standard and the Hummingbird Pro). The craftsmanship and playability out of the box was better on both guitars from Indonesia. The Slash AFD required a lot of attention to correct fret buzz and intonation. I still may have to take it to a tech to make it just right. I did get it playable. It's staying in tune for the most part and it is an GREAT joy to play.

Great Guitar for the Price

Comments about Epiphone Slash "AFD" Les Paul Guitar Outfit:

This is the best guitar that I have ever played for under $200. The guitar has a great tone to it either clean or with some dirt. If you want that les paul tone and don't want to spend a lot of money, this is a great option.

Comments about Epiphone Slash "AFD" Les Paul Guitar Outfit:

I just bought this over Labor Day weekend on a crazy sale and it was well worth the money. Crystal clear clean tone as well as when it gets dirty the note definition is still ringing through. Unlike others my guitar has great sustain. Can't believe this was less than $200. I originally picked up the Les Paul Special with P90's and now wanted a dual humbucker guitar. So don't wait go and pick yours up today!!!

I have had this guitar for 4 months and sadly the fret marker did fall out on the third fret. It was a cheap repair and over all, it plays and sounds great.

      Poor Quailty Control

      By Stephen

Comments about Epiphone Slash "AFD" Les Paul Guitar Outfit:

First one ceramics were cracked second one bag falling apart and finish was bad. So can't comment on playability since never got that far. Contacted Epiphone 3 times about the free emedia lessons never got a response. There is nothing in the box about them or how the tuner works no paperwork for anything.

Comments about Epiphone Slash "AFD" Les Paul Guitar Outfit:

I couldn't believe the price for what I was getting. The AFD has that Les Paul sound and the PAFs are outstanding. Basically I wanted this not only for jamming but also to improve my playing. The improvement began as soon as I got it out of the box.
I own a Carvin DC 400A - Anniversary model that I got as a gift in 2002. The Floyd rose nearly drove me to drink trying to keep the guitar in tune, it's heavier than sin, the action is high and the neck feels slow. This ax at the time cost about $1200.
The Slash AFD sounded significantly better, the neck was much faster and overall it just looked like an awesome guitar and played like one.
So for a little more than 1/10th the price of a "custom" Carvin I got an epi les paul that plays, feels and sounds AWESOME.
This purchase has totally converted me to a die hard Epi/Gibson Les Paul believer. The prices are not to be believed, considering what you're getting especially with this particular guitar. The triple A flamed maple top is too cool for words. Love this guitar - if you like the les paul fee and sound (and who doesn't?) buy this guitar before they're all gone. Thank you Slash, Epiphone and Gibson - you rule!!

Comments about Epiphone Slash "AFD" Les Paul Guitar Outfit:

Picked this gem up due to having my gear in another state. Was at a great price from what you get. Even though the pickups are stock I have no problems with them. The feel is great and the weight of it reminds me of my other Les Paul's that I own. For me perfect spacing on the frets. If I had to buy from scratch again I would mostly defiantly buy this one again.
