I just recently bought this guitar, and wow, i was blown away at its sound! It has a nice crisp tone, pickups are extremely nice (sick sustain), and its neck is extremely nice and slick. The all around performance of this guitar is astounding! Now to move on to the looks. Lets just say that the pictures on this sight DO NOT do justice to the beauty of this guitar. it is So clean, and yet "grunge" looking at the same time, I love it! So it may not be a Gibson, but if you ask me it plays just as good! For the price its a steal. - Josh

Excellence

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

This guitar goes beyond what words can describe, and that's not over doing it. Packed with the classic EMG 81/85 setup, this beast can do anything you ever wanted to do with a breeze. Amazing tone, sound, quality - You get it all here, and such a stunning look to it: The picture does no justice for this guitar, you actually have to see it get the full experience! For it's price I can't see any guitar coming close to this one. It's got EVERYTHING!

Can't Believe This Price!!!!!

By Rich

from Coram, NY

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

I really cannot believe the price of this. Ok, so its an Epiphone and not a Gibson, but that is the only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5.My current fav play a Gibson Standard Limited Edition with a 60's style neck. I have been playing Gibson's for 10 years, and I have to say that I have become a huge fan of ebony fingerboards. There is nothing smoother in my opinion, plus they are so uch easier to clean. Now, I have never put EMGs into a Les Paul, I have a couple of ESPs with those in them, but one thing I never liked about my ESPs is that I dont have an ebony fingerboard. I have always wanted an SG, and with all the features on this one, as soon as I get my unemployent check I am buying this one, even if it is an Epiphone....haha.

It's an Epiphone?!

By Stephen

from Chicago

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

This baby's loaded with features I've seen on very few Gibsons, much less Epiphones. 24 jumbo frets on an ebony fretboard, quilt maple top, EMG 81/85 active pickups, all on the classic SG body. Epiphone or not, this guitar is perfect for metal, and if you turn down the volume a bit or don't mash the strings, you can even get a great clean sound out of the EMGs.

Never Thought I Would Like An SG!

By Jonathon

from Kissimmee Fl, U.S.A.

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

I just recently got this guitar and havent touched my other guitars since! If you play CLEAN its for you. If you play DISTORTED its for you. It has the signature chunky sound of the Gibson, but not the price! If you want a good looking guitar that can play anything with ease, get one! The only bad thing is its kinda heavy so get a locking strap for that reason. The EMG pickups make this guitar have awsome sustain with its easy grasp neck. Not much force required to bend the strings either. All around good looking, fantastic sounding guitar.

Who cares if it's Epiphone?

By Ryan Laureano

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

When i first went into the shop, i tried a B.C Rich Kerry King V, my sister didn't like it and found this, I looked at the headstock and almost didn't try it, then i realized how awsome it looked. I never thought an epiphone would sound this good. I checked the pickup brand. EMG. I checked the back, then i realized they were EMG 81 85 Actives.I used to think epiphone as a poser brand. This guitar proved me wrong.

Wow

By Zac

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

Starting off, very beautiful looking guitar...body has a nice gloss, awesome inlays, binding is great too, pick ups are EMGs, need i say more?...what most people haven't said is the neck has a flat finish so you won't slide around like on a gloss neck...best feature in this price range i've ever seen...but the neck is a bit thick for my taste, id go for a ibanez thick neck but the thickness didn't really slow me down...this is by far the best value in this range that i've seen...i know everybody says that and most times they're wrong, but i would agree when discussing this guitar.

Amazing Guitar

By Joel Anderson

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

I've always liked the SG, so when I saw this guitar, I knew it was for me. It can handle so many different styles of music, always sounding great. I've had little to no problems with it. It's even more beautiful up close, and it plays incredibly smoothly. Regardless of your style of music, this baby is for you.

EPIC WIN

By Julian the guitarist

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

HIS GUITAR IS AMAZING!!! the emg pick ups make it sound great, the grover tuners make it stay in tune great, the awsome finish with the white outline looks amazing, and the inlays are insane! one thing that i have noticed is that its neck is not as chunky as normal sgs, its much smaller, which i guess would be a good thing. the only problem i had with this guitar was that when i first got it, the action was extremely high.also the neck doesnt have a glossy finish, it has a diffeent finish, but its still good. it feels good and plays great, i would definetaly recommend this guitar for its price.

Shreds

By Dominic

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

This guitar is sick! Thhe EMGs is what really sets this thing off. They absolutely wail. I played this thing trough a Raven halfstack and it was sweet. The finish on it is beautiful, one of the best looking guitars I've seen. The only thing, unless you have the bass turned up on the amp, this guitar sounds a little thin. It's sound is a little too trebley, just like a regular SG. So don't get this guitar if you are looking to escape that ACDC Sg sound, because it's here too, only not as light sounding. heavy, but thin

Could not be better!

By Jared

from Okanawa, Japan

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

I bought this guitar a year ago. Nothing bad about it. The EMGs are sick. they can have great supper heavy distortion, or a great clean soung. They are great for any style. TWO OCTAVES?! amazing. makes soloing a dream. the satin neck is awesome. I will regret not having one if i get a new guitar. In my opinion, its just as good as a gibson, with more features, and less of a price. This has been my weapon of choice. GET IT NOW!!! YOU CANT GO WRONG!!!!

The Epiphone that gives ESP Vipers a run for their money!

By derrick

from Dayton, OH

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

This guitar is unbeliveable! I didnt even know about it untill I went to my local guitar center. It caught my eye like a diamond in the rough. This guitar is absoutly loaded with top notch hardware & features like Grover machine heads, Tonepros bridge, top of the line active EMG pickups, silky-smooth satin finished binded neck, 24 frets, unique lighting bolt inlays, quilt top mighdnight ebony finish. Honestly I was a little sceptical of it being an epiphone, until the second I played it. I own a USA Gibson SG Classic and as much as I hate to admit it this guitar is better. If this exact same guitar said Gibson on the headstock it would easily be double the price and it would still be worth every penny! I dont care If your a beginner or a professional musician, if you like sg's & like to play metal, buy it.

Soon to be my next guitar!

By WGT

from Greenville,SC

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

I played this guitar today at my local Guitar Center. I was originally planning on getting an ESP LTD EC-1000 VB, but this guitar changed my mind. First off it has the EMG 81/85 unlike the EC-1000 which has the EMG 81/60. The price on this guitar is better on the wallet, and it plays better. It also, unlike many Gibson or Epiphone products, has 24 frets, which means a full two octave scale and its possible to solos in songs by Slayer, Metallica, ect. I love the SG body style because it allows for more reach around near the base of the neck. The matte finish on the neck helps keep it from getting grimy from your palms and allows a smoother slide up and down the neck. Overall an amazing guitar!

Near Perfect!

By Ryan A.

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

I loved this guitar so much when I tried it out, I almost got down on one knee before it! Okay, I'm exagerrating there, but really, it's a great guitar. Not only is it a beautiful-looking guitar, but you've got seemingly endless sustain and incredibly powerful tone that's great for heavy music. Plus you've got the 24 frets and the flawless access to the upper register. The only problems I have with this guitar are the fact that the pickups are active humbuckers, so they require batteries, and while the neck and fingerboard are lightning fast, the back of the neck leaves a residue on your hand. Also, the guitar is a bit heavy, so hold on tight! While you may be able to afford a real Gibson at this price, I would rather buy a pricier Epiphone than a cheap Gibson. Overall, a great guitar with a dark look.

LEGEN- wait for it - DARY

By Ryan

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

I love this guitar. I had been looking for a new one different from my Squire Strat and I was looking at Les Pauls but then i saw this guitar and was amazed at how it looked so the first chance I had I went and played it. I was blown away from this guitar. I bought It soon after and i just absolutely love it. Plays great, looks amazing, much better in person and the neck is so smooth and fast not to mention 24 frets. This is definatly a guitar you wanna buy if you play lead or even this does great rythym its an amazing guitar. It did come with the strap loks which i heard it didnt and it went great with my grey dunlop flambe strap. It did have a bit of fret buzzing but it is easily fixed so go do yourself a favor, buy this guitar.

Amazing Guitar

By Eddy Salem

from San Diego, California

Comments about Epiphone SG Prophecy Custom EX Electric Guitar with EMG 81/85 Pickups:

This guitar is amazing. I was never really big with Epiphone until I found this guitar and tried it out. It sounds great especially with the EMG's and the type of music I play. The guitar looks alot better than it does in the picture. One of my favorite guitars, and I love the wide neck it has. I've had it for a couple months and I don't regret it at all.
