Overview

The PRO-1 is a dreadnought-style acoustic guitar, probably the most recognized acoustic guitar profile in the world and a model that Epiphone has been perfecting since 1932. Dreadnought-style guitars are known for their incredible volume and tonal range. They are a both a songwriter's and rocker's best friend. There's hardly a recording made that doesn't feature a dreadnought acoustic guitar. But traditional dreadnoughts are also "big" guitars and difficult for new players to learn on as their first guitar. Now the PRO-1 changes all that for the better.

The PRO-1 features the classic dreadnought profile and tonewoods such as select spruce and mahogany but with a reduced body depth, which makes it easier and more comfortable to hold and play. The select spruce top-the source of the PRO-1's tone - has "sealed" Custom PRO-Prietary Bracing that allows the full range of the guitar to ring out with clear highs and solid lows while also keeping the guitar stable in any environment. If the heart of a great guitar is its top and bracing, its soul is found in the neck - how it feels in your hands and how easy it is to go from one chord to another.

The PRO-1 uses classic tonewoods like mahogany for the neck and rosewood for the fingerboard, but with innovative features that reduce hand fatigue and finger fatigue. Whereas vintage models typically have big chunky necks, the PRO-1's EZ-PRO "C" Shape is easy on your hands. The shorter scale makes learning chords and licks faster. PRO-Ease Lubricant makes the neck feel smooth and "worn in" on your fingers, and JumboPRO frets make it easy to hold down light gauge strings.

Epiphone's Deluxe tuners have 18:1 tuning gears that make finding the correct pitch quick and intuitive. The GraphTech NuBone and bridge saddle are made from hard and resonant tusq material, increasing the guitar's volume and harmonic "voice." The PRO-1 also features another innovation that even pros have been asking for: the EZ-String Bridge doesn't require string pins. No more getting your string caught on a string pin (or losing a pin in the dark while you're on stage). The PRO-1 makes the world's most famous style of guitar easy.

Less fatigue
Wrap your hand around the PRO-1 neck and you'll immediately feel how comfortable it is. The new EZ-Profile neck is designed so your hand can easily form chords without feeling fatigued.

Effortless Fretting
Epiphone JumboPRO frets make fretting notes and chords seem effortless. JumboPRO frets are taller and wider than smaller frets. So, when you push down a string, it's easier to make string contact with the fret with less hand fatigue and finger friction.

Shorter is Easier
Scale length is the distance from the saddle to the nut. The shorter the scale length, the "looser" the strings feel. Because the PRO-1's scale length is almost 1" shorter than most acoustic guitars, the strings are under less tension so you don't have to press hard to get good tone. And - since the frets are closer together - making chords is easier.

Make friction fiction
String and fingerboard friction not only slows your playing but also can hurt. The PRO-Ease string and fingerboard coating provides sleek, smooth action with reduced string noise.

No pain, no gain?
Nonsense-Epiphone believes in "no pain." Lighter gauge strings are easier to play so every PRO-1 is set-up and equipped with Epiphone Ultra-Light strings.

Easy action
With Epiphone's Dual-Action truss rod, you can adjust the neck in both directions, which not only stabilizes the neck but also makes set-up easier and more precise.

Comments about Epiphone PRO-1 Acoustic Guitar:

I just bought the blue guitar online. I am waiting for it to ship on July 7th. However, I ordered the Epiphone EDREAD Dreadnought Hardshell Case. I am just hoping this fits. Because nowhere Online I found any description or details for a matching case

Comments about Epiphone PRO-1 Acoustic Guitar:

Going on 60 years old I decided to learn to play guitar. After reading hundreds of reviews I decided the Epiphone Pro-1 Acoustic would be a good "starter" for me and, for once, I was right. I picked it up at the Columbus, Oh. GC store. I told the salesman what I was looking for and he took me right to it. I wanted to get a feel for this guitar because I had broken my left wrist years ago and have lost some mobility in that hand. I have no problems with most chords with this guitar. The neck and finger board are very nice. I purchased that very guitar as an "open box" item and received a $40 discount.
The action was great. After tuning the strings a tad it has a great sound. Mellow and not too loud.
Some reviews have talked about things falling off or cracking but, I've had no problems with mine except I had to tighten the screws in the tuners once. I've had this guitar for over a month now and play it everyday and have only replaced the strings to Martin Marquis Silk and Steel.
Bottom line; If you're looking for a budget, beginner guitar, check this one out.

Comments about Epiphone PRO-1 Acoustic Guitar:

I am a beginner guitar player. My guitar teacher told me to get this guitar because it is great quality and the neck is thin. I have small hands so it works. I love it and the wine red is beautiful. And it came with the guitar humidifier which is nice!

Comments about Epiphone PRO-1 Acoustic Guitar:

This review comes from a 20+ year player who's played many dozens of guitars, ranging in quality from entry level to ultra high-end. I picked the vintage sunburst Pro-1 up as a goof, just to see what sort of sound Epi was offering under $150. Oh boy, was I totally blown away. The action is low and super easy to play. It has a bright, crisp tone with clean highs and nice warm lows. To find a spruce top with tusq saddle/nut at this price range is so rare, and my hat is off to whoever at Epiphone decided to go this route. Only complaint (this is so minor) but the pickguard leaves something to be desired. I peeled mine off and ordered a Dove pickguard.

If you're on the fence, just go for it. You won't have any regrets. This is a very special guitar and I'm still shocked at the price. Honestly it reminds me of the Taylor 114's that I've played... very similar feel and action for a lot less cash.

Comments about Epiphone PRO-1 Acoustic Guitar:

After playing the nylon acoustic guitar, as well as an electric guitar for some time, i wanted an acoustic with steel strings to add to the family.
I tried out many in this price range at GC, and i left with this.
The strings it comes with are a very light gauge, so it made my transition from nylon to steel very easy. The guitar itself is very sturdy and can take some damage. I got it in the "wine red" color and it's very easy on the eyes. Although the finish makes fingerprints very visible, but its not that big of a deal.

Comments about Epiphone PRO-1 Acoustic Guitar:

The guitar is great! I bought it for my wife as a Christmas present and we both enjoy playing it. The only downside was that it took 2 months to get it! Guitar Center was great about it though. After several calls they gave me upgraded, free 3 day shipping as well as a $25 store credit. Overall I'm happy with both the product and Guitar Center's response to the customer service issue.
