Overview

Epiphone presents the new Ltd. Ed. Inspired by "1955" Les Paul Custom Outfit, a historic reissue of one of the most popular Les Pauls ever made. Featuring Gibson USA Soapbar P-90 pickups, gold hardware, an Ebony fretboard, and a vintage style hard case.

Epiphone and Mr. Les Paul
Epiphone’s long friendship with Mr. Les Paul dates back to the 1940s when Les, working after-hours at the original Epiphone factory in Manhattan, created one of the world’s first solid body electric guitars which he nicknamed “The Log”. It wasn’t long before “The Log” evolved into the legendary Les Paul. Throughout his life, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone reviewing new products and offering suggestions. “They are damn fine instruments, I swear by them!” said Les.

The Epiphone Ltd. Ed.
Inspired by "1955" Les Paul Custom Outfit is an historic reissue of the “tuxedo” Les Paul that Les designed to be the most beautiful electric guitar ever made with a striking Ebony finish with gold hardware that would not only look great with a “tux” but would also convince skeptics that the new—and controversial--“solid body” electric guitar was a refined and classy instrument.

Historic “1955” Les Paul Custom
The new Ltd. Ed. Inspired by "1955" Les Paul Custom Outfit has the same profile of '50s era Les Paul Customs with a Mahogany body in an Aged Gloss Ebony finish and a 5-layer (black &white) pickguard. The Mahogany neck has a '50s style Rounded “C” profile and is glued deep into the body with Titebond glue so the entire instrument resonates as a single piece of wood. The top of the body has 7-layer Ivory and Black color binding while the Ebony fingerboard has single layer Ivory color binding. The neck has 24.75” scale length, a 14” radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, and vintage style Split Diamond Pearloid inlays.

Gibson USA Soapbar P-90 pickups
The Ltd. Ed. Inspired by "1955" Les Paul Custom Outfit is powered by Gibson USA Soapbar P-90 pickups with gold pole screws. P-90 pickups are recognized as the most powerful and versatile single-coil pickups ever made and were Les’ favorite style of pickup for his personal Les Pauls. Each pickup has individual tone and volume controls with Black “Top Hat” knobs with metal pointers. The 3-way Pickup Selector switch has an Amber colored toggle cap.

Heavy Duty Hardware
The “1955” Les Paul Custom Outfit comes with Epiphone’s Heavy-Duty Non-Rotating 1/4" output jack with a Square Jack Plate, a gold LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece, and gold Epiphone "Deluxe" machine heads with an 18:1 ratio on a split dovewing headstock with the Epiphone logo in Pearloid. The dual action truss rod has a 2-layer black & white cover with "1955 Les Paul Custom" in white. A vintage style hard case and certificate of authenticity case are included.

Lifetime Warranty
Like all Epiphones, the Ltd. Ed. Inspired by "1955" Les Paul Custom Outfit comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson’s world famous 365/24/7 Customer Service.

Comments about Epiphone Ltd Ed Inspired by "1955" Les Paul Custom Outfit Electric Guitar:

I played a Gibson Trini Lopez (335) exclusively for 30 years & used 9-42 strings. Up until now, this was the easiest guitar to play that I ever had. After that I switched to Fender for the last 20 years & still love my Fenders but of course they are a different breed of cat. My Epiphone 1955 Les Paul Custom plays as well (maybe better) than the Trini & with 10-46 strings. The setup was perfect right off the rack. I play along with Ventures, Shadows, Duane Eddy, etc. backing tracks. The Gibson P-90s are perfect for this kind of music. I love the looks of this guitar with all of it's beautiful trim & appointments & it comes with a gorgeous vintage style case. It's not a lightweight which I prefer over weight-relieved. I think these light LPs lose something in the translation so to speak.

Lauren S. at the Akron store did an super job. I traded some gear & was offered a fair price for it. I also got a discount on the Epi because I traded in some equipment. All in all an excellent experience. I am very pleased with everything.

Comments about Epiphone Ltd Ed Inspired by "1955" Les Paul Custom Outfit Electric Guitar:

I have several Epiphone Les Paul guitars, Joe Bonamassa Pelham Blue, my favorite..until Les Paul 1955 shown up with the P90's and I don't put it down..its the new "go-to"... I am so excited about owning this guitar after researching it and going to the local GC to handle one and now it's mine.. I love it..absolutely love it. The case is great as to be expected, pink inside and comes with the COA book which is cool too.
If you were like me, on the cusp of pulling the trigger..just do it..you'll thank yourself like I have several times over now that I have it!
