Overview

When the Epiphone Wildkat premiered in the early '90s, it introduced a new generation to historic Epiphone archtop style, which the House of Stathopoulo has been perfecting for nearly a century. Now the Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Studio nouveau classic is back with new colors and a streamlined look.

The Epiphone Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Studio features the timeless Wildkat profile made from mahogany with a flame maple top and classic Epiphone styled f-holes. The glued-in hard maple neck is hand-set and has a fast and comfortable 1960s SlimTaper D-profile with a 24.75 scale and a 12 radius.

The neck has a beautiful rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets. The truss rod cover (2-layer black and white) is matched to a classic '60s era œE logo for Epiphone. The Sloped Dovewing headstock, also an iconic style from the early '60s, has a vintage Epiphone metal badge. The body has simple but elegant single-layer Ivory colored binding as does the top, fingerboard and f-holes.

The Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Studio is powered by Epiphone designed Dogear Classic P-90 pickups, a favorite of Epi fans for decades. P-90 pickups are the world's best single coil pickups made from Alnico magnets with precise articulation for leads and rock n' roll growl for power chords and rhythm. Each pickup is activated via an Epiphone 3-way toggle switch for rhythm, lead, and a standard middle position for both pickups. Controls include a handy Master Volume, Master Tone, and individual volume controls for each pickup with Black Top Hat knobs with metal inserts.

Epiphone hardware is just as famous as its electronics and the Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Studio comes with a time-tested Epiphone LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and Epiphone Stopbar tailpiece combined with Epiphone Premium Die-Cast machine heads. Epiphone Die-Cast machine heads feature a pro-level 14:1 tuning ratio for precise intonation and rock solid tuning. Each Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Studio is set up at the Epiphone factory with the world's finest strings from D'Addario in a 10-46 (light) gauge.

Case sold separately.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Wildkat Studio Electric Guitar:

Okay, so I just have a regular wildcat and the only difference is the studio doesn't have a bigsby. That's the only difference. If you dint like bigsbys or you cant afford $80 for it, then this guitar is perfect. I don't own a studio but, when I played it in store, it felt and sounded the same as my bigsby wildcat back home. Nice warm p-90 tone, but make sure you have a noise gate, because I feel like this baby hums more than a hi-gain telecaster. The flamed antique natural chrome is nice and classy looking and is beautiful on stage. Overall a great guitar and I would definitely recommend it to a beginner who doesn't need or want the bigsby,

Can't beat it for the price. Frets are smooth on the edge, something sometimes sacrificed at this price point. Lots of tone, lots of fun

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Wildkat Studio Electric Guitar:

I own the Standard Wildkat w/Bigsby, but for a few bucks less this thing is a gem. If you don't want or need a vibrato, this is the best P-90 equipped guitar on the market for the money. It kicks. I might pick one up for a backup guitar.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Wildkat Studio Electric Guitar:

The Wildkat was a bit loose upon arrival: Pick up toggle intermittent, neck needed work. However a trip to my favorite guitar tech and a set of flat wound 11's and she sounds pretty good. I do not expect a factory set up to be adequate and 9's or 10's just don't cut it so I actually plan for the added expense.

Great guitar for a wonderful price, thank you GC! Perfect guitar to rock loud all day and then unplug to play sweet and low at night without losing any of the pleasure of playing this guitar. Has a great weight and feel and just looks darn pretty! Can't go wrong with this one.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Wildkat Studio Electric Guitar:

I am very happy with this guitar. I was looking for a good semi-hollow and this seemed to tick all the boxes. I like the sound very much and of course it is a beauty to look at. While I am a fairly inexperienced player I believe this guitar will last a long time. My only concern is that it seems to get out of tune a bit quicker than I would like.

The guitar's tone is remarkable! After raising the action and adding a little overdriven, the Wildkat is a blues slide monster! I personalize the guitar to make it my own. Changing the pickup covers was problematic, but I got it done!

This is a great guitar! I would play the Wildkat everytime I walked into my Guitar Center but I don't like tremolos so I would not buy one. Then one day I saw the Wildkat studio, I knew I had to have one. One day I looked on-line and it was on sale so I bought a Wildkat Studio in Natural. This guitar is beautiful! It sounds great, came well set up, but I always change strings and do my own set up. This guitar sounds amazing, the workmanship and finish are flawless. I would recommend this guitar to anyone. I usually play a Tele so the neck on this guitar feels big to me, but I get use to it fast. This is a must have guitar!

I picked up a natural finish studio model for the lo-lo...needed a bit of neck straightening and new pickup covers (I used ivory plastic covers) and now it's a freakin beast. The chrome covers were muddying up the tone...plastic PU covers resolved that issue to my satisfaction.
                    Superb tone now. Very playable.

I love the look and sound of this instrument. It came out of the box looking just perfect, and it sounded great. It seemed as though it had to be tuned fairly often the first few days I had it, but that seems to be improving, the longer I play it.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Wildkat Studio Electric Guitar:

The quality is perfect, it feels great and the neck is robust and feels great to the hand. Its not a heavy guitar and the size is perfect. Tonality is great, and it sounds great (but not so loud) unplugged. This guitar is beautiful and since its not a common choice like a strat /les paul/ telecaster, you stand out. Wine red is on sale, 100 bucks discount, and it happened to be the color i was looking for, so its the best deal ive gotten on a guitar.
