This is a limited edition version of Epiphone's number one selling model available with a choice of "worn" finishes. The Epiphone Ltd Ed Special-I is a great way for beginners to get started on guitar with real Les Paul tone and feel. But seasoned pros love the Special-I also because it's a great-sounding, workhorse guitar that lets them leave their more expensive axes at home.
The authentic LP power starts with an basswood, trademarked Les Paul body with a bolted-on "1960's" SlimTaper™ mahogany neck featuring a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. The Special-I is voiced by a pair of hot open-coil Epiphone 700T and 650R humbucker pickups, giving it massive, unmistakable Les Paul tone. Like all of Epiphone's electric guitars, it comes standard-equipped with 500K potentiometers for the master volume and master tone controls, plus Epiphone's heavy-duty 3-way pickup selector toggle switch and exclusive non-rotating heavy-duty output jack. This value-champ also now features nickel hardware including an intonated, one-piece wraparound bridge-stopbar.

I have owned two Gretsch guitars and I love them, but I always wanted a Les Paul, because I love the sound and I needed a rock guitar. My wife gave me a budget for a birthday gift and I immediately went to Guitar Center. When I told a representative what I was looking for and gave him a price range, he immediately showed me the Epiphone Les Paul Special. Let me tell you: What a sweet guitar! I played perfectly, had great action and a great sound. Do you know how people say you don't pick pets, they pick you? That's how I felt when I put the guitar on my lap. It was perfect. It was TV yellow and I wasn't going to leave without it. I have since then brought it to gigs and had other guitarists who have played the pricey Stratocasters and the like try my Les Paul and said that they like this guitar better. If anyone who owns any guitar doesn't at least try this out, they're nuts. It's a perfect guitar.
As soon as I opened the box I was very pleased with my purchase. Expectations validated! The Epiphone quality and care for detail is excellent. The finish is a low lustre yellow- not at all shiny. Love it. The string action is excellent. Tuners are top notch. Some reviews refer to a "cheap Guitar'- not as a cut but a compliment. Even as a compliment, I would never classify this instrument as a cheap guitar. It looks great, sounds great, and plays great! VERY happy with my purchase. I own Epiphone, Fender, and Martin instruments, and this is definitely a very satisfying guitar to play!!!
sent for a black worn guitar and got the wrong one by mistake they sent me a worn cherry and was disopointed when I opened it onChristmas morning but I don't want to send it back so I will just live with it it is a very nice sounding guitar and is just what I was looking for and well pleased with but for the black one that I orded. but still pleased whith the poreformance of it well ok keep the cherry one.
I purchased this Epiphone as a Christmas gift for my 28 year old daughter. She knew what she wanted and I was proud of her for choosing quality. She is an active player and she is in a band in WA. She knows the Epiphone capabilities and it will not disappoint. Epiphone/Les Paul/Gibson; you can't beat the quality, the tone, and it was a great price.
This is my first real guitar that Ive had. I wanted a guitar that could do a few different styles like soft rock, hard rock, screamo, and different types of metal. Ive played alot of different of guitars in this price range and I couldn't put this one down. The stock pickups are pretty amazing I know a few guys who play and they are all amazed by how good they sound. The tuners need to be changed out it comes out of tune daily. The neck feels so great its really soft and easy to slide across it. The sound is pretty good best in its price range. Even sounds good unplugged. It is a bit too light compared to an Epiphone or Gibson Les Paul Standard. All in all I love it it's amazing guitar if you are looking for something versatile with a pretty good les paul sound look no further. Like I said all the people I know who have Gibsons and Fenders and have been playing for years love my guitar. It just has a volume control tone control and 3 way toggle switch.
I got this guitar for Christmas of 2013 and have gigged with it about twice a month since then. I got the TV Yellow module and although it wasn't my favorite at first, now I wouldn't have it any other way. The body is very solid. The pickups and wiring are great. I play mostly lead and some rhythm for my band. The humbuckers look and sound very cool. My only complaints are the bridge, which is all in one piece, so you can't adjust the individual string's innotation.(They haven't given me any trouble, I just like to mess with them. And the tuning machines are also kinda cheap and let it go out of tune faster than preferable. Also you have to retune after using a capo, which is annoying on stage. Over all, for the money, five stars. Have had no problems.
This is my first electric guitar and I couldn't ask for a better first. Sounds great and is very durable with a nice weight distribution. I have the worn TV yellow and it looks extremely nice, although the yellow is not as bright as it appears to be in the picture. The stock version doesn't go much lower than a drop d tuning. I play a lot of A# B and C so I had it adjusted and put 13-65 strings on it and I am blown away at the sound.
Great price, solid feel, straight neck, good looks, clean and variable sound, you may want to adjust the action but there is nothing to complain about here. I strongly recommend this guitar. It also has a truss rod - contrary to what I read on another post.
I bought this because it was not expensive and I intended to use it as parts for other guitars. Sounded good in the store so I got it. When I plugged it in at home on my setup, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Kept right up with my main guitars. Needless to say it made it into my regular rotation as is. Have a feeling I won't be stripping this one down.
I bought this guitar yesterday at the Easter sell. Paid $89 bucks for one of the best guitars I'v ever played. I have a 75 Gibson Les Paul and an 80's model Fender American Strat with 24 frets and locking nut. This guitar will hang with the best of them. The humbucker pickups are hot and sound as good as a Les Paul. I went back and bought 2 more. If you hurry you might still be able to get one.
