Overview

Epiphone introduces the new Les Paul Traditional PRO-II featuring the ultimate combo of Alnico Classic PRO and ProBucker humbuckers with coil-splitting for an incredible range of tones. Plus a 15 dB boost switch along with new color finishes.

Epiphone and Mr. Les Paul
The idea for the “Les Paul” guitar was born at Epiphone and Les’ spirit of innovation still inspires us everyday. Epiphone’s long friendship with Mr. Les Paul dates back to 1940 when Les, working after-hours at the original Epiphone factory in Manhattan, created one of the world’s first solid body electric guitars which he nicknamed “The Log”.

It wasn’t long before “The Log” evolved into the legendary Les Paul. And over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone reviewing new products and offering suggestions, often doing his own mods at home. The new Epiphone Les Paul Traditional PRO-II combines the best of Les’ original design with an array of modern features Les himself might have made.

Classic Les Paul Styling…with a Twist
The new Les Paul Traditional PRO-II has the classic build and profile of all Les Pauls with a solid mahogany body and a traditional carved top. New color finishes include Ebony, Desertburst, Ocean Blue, Vintage Sunburst and Wine Red. The solid mahogany neck has a 1960's SlimTaper “D” profile with a 24.75 in. scale and is hand-fitted and glued into the body so the entire guitar resonates as a single piece of wood. A "worn" type finish on the back of the neck and body add to the lived-in feel. The neck has a rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, single-ply cream binding, and mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays.

Alnico Classic PRO and ProBucker Humbuckers - Plus Coil Splitting and Boost
The Les Paul Traditional PRO-II is powered by Epiphone’s most popular humbuckers featuring newly tooled, USA-style bobbins. In the neck position is an Alnico Classic PRO with Alnico-II magnets with open zebra coils for a warm, thick, vintage tone. The Alnico Classic PRO is paired with an Epiphone ProBucker-3 at the bridge. The ProBucker-3 is inspired by Gibson's classic BurstBucker-3 and features unevenly wound coils and Alnico-II magnets that replicate the tone of "Patent Applied For" humbuckers found in priceless vintage, '50s-era Les Pauls.

Controls use classic “Top Hat” Volume and Tone knobs which have push/pull potentiometers allowing you to coil-split each pickup for single-coil sounds. Combined with the 3-way toggle, you can get six unique sounds from one great Les Paul guitar.  You can also pull up on the bridge pickup’s tone knob for an additional 15 dB boost. The active Boost control is powered by a 9-volt battery, which is easily accessible at the back of body.

All-Metal Hardware
The Les Paul Traditional PRO-II comes with legendary Grover machine heads with an 18:1 tuning ratio, a traditional cream colored pickguard, solid nickel LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, and Epiphone StrapLocks. An optional case is also available.

Lifetime Warranty
Like all Epiphones, the Les Paul Traditional PRO-II comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty and is backed by world-famous 24/7/365 Gibson Customer Service.

I was looking to unload 2 guitars for a Gibson Les Paul when I stumbled upon this beauty. The feel of a natural neck, and the sound of the humbuckers along with coil-splitting, and the boost feature was just too much to pass up. So many options in playing this guitar. You can play jazz to shredding. Joe Pass to Led Zeppelin. And the look is just classic. I was very happily surprised on the workmanship of this guitar. Epiphone knows what it's doing with their factories. I love my Ocean Blue Les Paul.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO-II Electric Guitar:

Amateur player. Just play for myself to relax. Been playing fender strats and g&l fallout. Was looking for a Les Paul to play more late 60s blues rock - think Zepplin. Play my Vintage Burst Epiphone LP through a Marshall MG15CGX - totally awesome!! This guitar is such a great price and so much fun to play. If you are looking for a Les Paul without breaking the budget get this guitar. I think it would be able to hold its own against a much more expensive Gibson too.

    Great Guitar for the Value

    By David

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO-II Electric Guitar:

From a price standpoint, when you compare it to a Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro, it's a no-brainer. I was always a Fender Strat guy but wanted a Les Paul after playing a few of them....... Different feel and different sound from the LP'S. I went into Guitar Centers with then intention of buying a Gibson Les Paul but ended up with the Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro II. I found the Epi LP lighter in weight than the Gibson, and sounding very close as well. For the price what Adam from GC in Canton MI gave it to me for..... I would have bought 4 of the Epi's with generic cases for the price of one Gibson LP. I'm SOLD on the Epiphone Les Paul.........

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO-II Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar back in November of 2016 and I still get that warm fuzzy feeling when I open the case and see my beauty shimmering in the lights. When you plug her in, she will make you cry tears of joy that you get to have tone/power like this without blowing your kids college money on her. Best LP I could ask for, especially at this price. The neck feels comfortable and is so smooth, theactive boost is adjustable in the back of the guitar, you can use less boost if you need to or crank it up for full 15dB of boost. Grover locking machine heads (18:1) keeps her in tune forever. The pickups are good, no need to change unless you really feel like it. Go get one.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO-II Electric Guitar:

This is my first review written on any product. I have been playing professionally for many years I play Reggae Rock so I needed something very versatile and had been searching for a long time and went through Les Paul Customs, Standards, Fenders , Esp etc. you name it and ive Played it or owned it .......I was not in the market for an Epiphone because every one I had played in the past was just not up to par ,however it seems like in 2016 they REALLY got it together I purchased the Ocean Blue Burst and it is hands down the best instrument I have played HOWEVER if you are looking for a thin neck like an Ibanez or something this is NOT it , for some reason its listed as a "slim taper D" profile but there is nothing slim about it , and that's one of the reasons that I absolutely love this guitar it all comes down to preference of coucourse but I find this guitar to play extremely smooth and comfortable, the back has a sort of matt finish or "worn in feel" and is great for playing long hours and pros doing multiple gigs a week , for the longest time I loved thin necks and could never figure out the hand fatigue and cramps until i switched over to thicker neck profiles ......the pickups are just fine , usually the first thing i do to most guitars is install pickups or upgrade tuners but this guitar doesn't need it at all , the grover tuners are solid and the split coils option on clean sounds beautiful through a nice tube amp (or solid state if that's your thing) pinch harmonics and heavy chugging is no problem either with the humbuckers , needles to say I won't be changing anything on the guitar and would HIGHLY recommend this instrument to anyone who likes thick neck profiles and the versatility to have the Gibson tone and almost a fender type sound with the push of a button
I have played Gibsons that cost thousands that play nowhere near as good as this , the setup and intonation was spot on so there was no need for a setup or fret leveling
          EXCELLENT GUITAR! !!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO-II Electric Guitar:

I have always been leary of Epiphones but not any more! My band mate has all types of high end guitars but he plays he Epiphone a lot so I decided to check them out. I was shocked at how good they sound! The come with double waxed dipped humbukers, Grover Tuners etc. I have changed my whole outlook on Epiphones! Bought the Pro II yesterday, went to band practice and rocked it for 4 hours! Nice guitar for the price!

Added a Les Paul to my collection

          By Mike

          from Chicago, IL

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO-II Electric Guitar:

I recently was in a pawn shop recently and stumbled upon a Epiphone Les Paul Custom, it was white with gold hardware. This guitar had seen better days, so I passed. Also, the pawn shop was asking way too much for it. Since seeing that guitar in the pawn shop I was wanting to add a Les Paul to my collection. I have never had an Epiphone or Gibson before. I mainly have Fenders ( Strats, Tele, and Jazzmaster) and a Ibanez hollow-body in my collection as well a various acoustics (Taylor, Takamine, Alvarez), so I thought a LP would be nice and different. I did some research and came across the LP Trad. Pro II. It seemed to have all the features I liked: Mahogany body and neck, coil splitting, 15db boost. It has a lot of features for the money. I got the guitar on sale from GC during a Black Friday sale so it essentially was a no brainer and I could not pass up this deal. It was not that much more than the one in the pawn shop. I got one in Dessert Burst, and I must say it is a EXTREMELY good looking guitar. I like the Dessert Burst much more than the other color options. Coming from Fender guitars the LP was noticeably heavier and took a while to get used to. It's good it came with strap locks, because I can see how it can come loose from the strap. Also, the neck is quite different. Not worse or better, just different. It was comfortable although a bit thicker but nothing I won't be able to get used to. The sound is great, again not better or worse than what I'm used to. I can see the draw to LP style guitars. I know it will definitely have a use for those times a single coil sound won't cut it. The build quality is superb; nice and tidy. The neck didn't have any rough frets. It played real nice right out of the box. If you're in the market for something different from Fender, give the Les Paul a try. I think the Epiphone is a great way to get your toes wet in the world of Les Paul's.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO-II Electric Guitar:

I just got my desert burst version of this beauty, and it sounds absolutely amazing. The guitar is pieced together nicely, and I haven't noticed any sort of mechanical failures yet. I love the 15db BOOST, it adds a nice kick to the sound and also helps make it louder. I definitely love the natural desert burst they put on it. It looks more vintage, but if you are someone who wants a different model of the les paul, but with the same color, know that it is a different desert burst than what is featured on other models. Mine looks just like the pictures posted on here.
