Overview

Epiphone's history and association with Les Paul dates way back to the days when Les, working at the Epiphone factory on 14th St. in New York, created the world's first electric guitar. Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone by reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. The Epiphone Les Paul Quilt Top PRO electric guitar combines the best of Les Paul's original design with new features that set this Epiphone guitar apart. Case sold separately.

Professional Electronics
The Les Paul Quilt Top PRO uses Epiphone's 4-wire, nickel/silver base humbuckers with newly tooled, USA-style bobbins. In the neck position is Epiphone's chrome-covered ProBucker 2 with warm, thick vintage tone. It's uniquely paired with a chrome-covered ProBucker 3 humbucker, an inspired by version of Gibson's BurstBucker 3, that features unevenly wound coils and Alnico-II magnets that replicate that "Patent Applied for" airy tone. To top it all off, both volume controls feature push/pull potentiometers allowing you to coil-split each pickup for single-coil sounds. Combined with the 3-way toggle, you get 6 unique sounds from one great Les Paul guitar.

Premium tone woods
The Epiphone Les Paul Quilt Top PRO guitar has a solid mahogany back with a stunning, carved quilted top. Its solid mahogany neck is hand-fitted and glued into the body for excellent neck-to-body contact and resonates almost like one continuous piece of wood.

Loaded with add-ons
Other features on the Epiphone Les Paul included quality Grover tuners, a traditional cream-colored pickguard, and LockTone tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece.

Features
  • Mahogany body
  • Carved quilted maple top
  • 24.75" Scale set-in mahogany neck
  • Rosewood fretboard
  • 22 Medium jumbo frets
  • ProBucker 2 humbucking neck pickup with coil-split
  • ProBucker 3 humbucking bridge pickup with coil-split
  • LockTone tune-o-matic bridge
  • LockTone stopbar tailpiece
  • Grover tuners
  • Trapezoid inlay

I bought the translucent blue version of this it is amazing! So much cooler than flametop! If you are wondering what the difference between this (a PRO) and just a Standard, it means that you can pull the volume knobs up to turn the pickup the knob you pulled up represents to a single-coil instead of a humbucker. I love it! It makes the guitar so much more versatile. Almost never comes out of tune, looks really shiny, don't have to polish it very often. Overall a great guitar. Best in its class

I would not recommend this guitar!

Great guitar!

By mike reed _

from cheyenne wy

I have had mine for 1 1/2 years. After recently buying a gibson les paul melody maker that I am NOT happy with, I decided I should review the GOOD guitar. I also own a 2011 gibson les paul studio gold top. This Epiphone is a wonderful instrument! The best of the bunch. The fit and finish: EXELLENT, really! The probuckers with the coil split is amazing. You can squeeze out tones that will pleasantly surprise you. It stays in tune very well after the initial set up. No, it was not set up perfectly upon delivery but very few are. I notice the price has gone down since I bought mine. This is a great chance to buy a great guitar for a very low price. This thing is heavy compared to my Gibsons. I play it every day and it still looks as new. Buy one! You wont be sorry.

This guitar is amazing the sound of it is incredible and the maple top looks beautiful. The coil splitting is a really cool feature and you can get a very good sing coil sound. The neck is very nice and smooth and i don't see anyone needing to do a upgrade to it its nice stock. You can get a lot of different sounds with it.If you plan on getting the guitar for rock or for blues you won't be disappointed now I've got some led zeppelin songs to go play rock on!!!

High quality Import Les Paul

By Matthew Ackerman

from San Jose, Ca

This Epiphone LP has an AMAZING looking finish with the quilt top. From what I can tell it's just about flawless. Everyone I have showed it to goes "wow!" This is the same as the 'Standard Pro' but with a higher quality veneer. Grover machine heads are great, pickups sound amazing, controls are solid and well placed. I really can't find anything to complain about. The 'out of the box' setup needed a little work but I haven't found a guitar yet that didn't. I adjusted the relief, string height and intonation and it has been rocking for me ever since. The guitar has a terrific bluesy sound clean and can play just about anything heavy with the distortion cranked up. Is it the same as M.I.U.S.A. Gibson quality? Of course not, but it's very close. I can nit-pick about a few things but for the money this is a terrific guitar. If this is your budget and you are looking for an Epiphone Les Paul that is a little bit unique finish wise, give this one a go. I think you will be pleased with the results. I haven't been able to put this thing down it sounds so good. The coil split feature in the Pro line is also very cool. You can make some really unique sounds with that feature. The guitar is the perfect weight and the neck fits like a glove to me. Seriously. I love this thing.

I am in love with this guitar. Amazing quality and value.

By Matthew Ackerman

from San Jose, CA

The quality, fit and finish of this guitar are really something else. Epiphone is coming out with some really REALLY high quality first rate guitars. Go down and look at this thing. You will be impressed I guarantee it. I sat at guitar center and played a large number of the Epiphone Les Pauls and this particular model, and the plus top pro sister, are fantastic. This is the top of the line of the Les Paul standard type design for Epiphone. The tone and sustain are amazing. I paired this with a great 100 dollar off coupon and left the store with a giant smile. Thank you Guitar Center and Epiphone! This guitar will give me years of enjoyment. I got the 'faded burst' design and there is nothing faded about it. The color pops and the quilt top wood looks simply amazing. So what it is veneer? The body it one solid piece of mahogany, nothing is glued like old designs. It has an ivory binding ( no it is NOT painted!) The finger board is rose wood and it looks great. If this is your budget ( and even if its below ) and you want a great Les Paul take a hard look at this model. I love it! The 'burstbuckers' sounds great! The split coils are really cool and allow a much different sound. The guitar needed some serious setup but what guitar doesn't? They are wood and must be adjusted for your climate.

Best Epi Yet

By Terry Allen _ _

from Eugene, OR

Over the last few years I have had a few Gibson's and a few Epi's, and a few Fenders. Without a doubt this is the best Epiphone Les Paul I have owned. Out of the box, no issues. Action is a little high, but that can be changed easily. Finish and build quality is almost flawless. With the split coils and the 3 ways pickup switch the player has a huge variety of tones. Granted QC can vary from guitar to guitar, but the one I received, couldn't ask for anything better. I had placed an order for a Epiphone Les Paul, changed my mind, called GC, canceled the order and the GC sales guy offered me this one. Couldn't say no, and I'm glad I took him up on his offer. One very happy customer!

Incredible Guitar

By Gary Clodfelter

from Indianapolis, Indiana

The past five years, I've played a modified Fender Strat electric and a Taylor 314 acoustic. Both are very good instruments. Although I've also wanted to own a Les Paul, I felt uncomfortable spending a lot of money. Therefore, the Epiphone became my instrument of choice instead of a Gibson. This Epiphone Les Paul Limited Edition Quilt Top PRO in translucent blue far exceeded my expectations for a guitar in this price range. It is a beautiful guitar. The guitar stays in tune and the intonation up and down the neck is right on. The D shaped neck with a 12" radius is very easy to play. At this price, I do not think you can buy a better instrument.

Bluejay

By william judy

from Bridgeport, il

I bought this guitar mainly for it looks it reminds me of a blue jay bird . We called my deceased son blue jay , so I bought in memory of him. It is a great guitar I love the sound of the humbucker pu. I have had single pu , with the coil splitting I have been able to reduce my guitars number . I love the feel and sound, it is a great value.
