Epiphone's history and association with Les Paul dates way back to the days when Les, working at the Epiphone factory on 14th St. in New York, created the world's first electric guitar. Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone by reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. The Epiphone Les Paul PlusTop PRO electric guitar combines the best of Les Paul's original design with new features that set this Epiphone guitar apart.
The Les Paul PlusTop PRO uses Epiphone's 4-wire, nickel/silver base humbuckers with newly tooled, USA-style bobbins. In the neck position is Epiphone's chrome-covered ProBucker-2 with warm, thick vintage tone. It's uniquely paired with a chrome-covered ProBucker-3 humbucker, an inspired by version of Gibson's BurstBucker-3, that features unevenly wound coils and Alnico-II magnets that replicate that "Patent Applied for" airy tone. To top it all off, both volume controls feature push/pull potentiometers allowing you to coil-split each pickup for single-coil sounds. Combined with the 3-way toggle, you get 6 unique sounds from one great Les Paul guitar.
Premium tone woods
The Epiphone Les Paul PlusTop PRO guitar has a solid mahogany back with a gorgeous, carved flame top. Its solid mahogany neck is hand-fitted and glued into the body for excellent neck-to-body contact and resonates almost like one continuous piece of wood.
Loaded with add-ons
Other features on the Epiphone Les Paul included quality Grover tuners, a traditional cream-colored pickguard, and LockTone tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece.

I love this guitar. The Probucker pickups are exceptional. I almost got a different model that featured the Gibson '57 classics; I even test drove it. After reading and reading everything I could about the Probuckers, I decided to take a leap of faith and go with the Standard Plustop Pro w/ the Probuckers without actually playing one. Boy, was that the best decision I have made in a long time. The tone is exceptional, the coil taps are absolutely fantastic. The sounds that come out of this thing sound like it should have cost well over a grand easily. So why then didn't I rate it 5 stars? Here is why. These Epiphone Les Pauls are supposed to be set at the factory. Well, they are not; not by any stretch. The intonation was, well, all over the place. It was horrible. After still struggling with intonation issues I realized that the neck is not straight. It has a bit of a concave arc to it. I am hoping once I straighten it and throw a new pair of D'Addario XL 10's on it, my intonation issues will go away. Would I buy another one of these again? Absolutely! I love this guitar. I will love it more once I get it set up properly, that's all. The finish of the guitar is pristine. It was packaged beautifully and was a true sight to see once it was unpacked.
First of all Antique Natural color is really Trans Amber. Side-by-side it sounds exactly like my LesPaul studio. Right out-of-the-box the set up and intonation were perfect. The neck has some beef to it not a slim as the 60s not as fat as a 50s. The tuners felt smooth and were easy to use. The bridge seems high-quality. The pick ups which is now metal feels nice. I could not find any flaws in the finish. The fretboard feels like it has been leveled and filed. No string buzz or dead spots on the neck. The bridge pick up could be hotter. Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase.
I'm fairly new to the guitar scene, and I've never played a Gibson Les Paul, but for my money this was a REALLY good value( Guitar Center matched a competitors price). It sounds great, feels great, and the DesertBurst finish is far more beautiful than the website pictures reveal. It looks like a piece of fine furniture! Looking forward to spending some time with my new "friend".
I just bought this Les Paul in the desertburst finish and it is beautiful! The color is deep and the maple top matches great. The quality exceeded my expectations and it plays just as well as a higher priced Gibson LP. I can't find a single flaw in it. The sound is great too, and the coil splitting gives you many options. I am extremely pleased with the guitar and am glad I purchased it to add to my collection. You won't be disappointed with this one!
