Overview

In 1954, Gibson introduced the first Les Paul Junior. At that time, it had a retail price of $120 and proved to be a very successful model. With its single pickup, simplified controls, flat-top, and distinctive tone, it made the now classic Les Paul model affordable to most every guitarist.

Epiphone has reissued this classic design with many of the same great features that made it so popular”and a few upgrades.

Original Juniors were equipped with a single P-90 pickup. This limited edition Epi features a single humbucking pickup. Unlike older P-90 single coil pups, this custom-made 700T humbucker is noise-free and specifically designed for the bridge position. With its ceramic magnet and slightly overwound coils, this pickup has clear highs with increased definition and no muddiness. The pickup is controlled by a single volume and single tone control.

The LP Junior features Epiphone's SlimTaper(tm) neck profile that's both fast and comfortable to play. To add bite as well as stability, the neck is made of hard maple and bolted to a select mahogany body. The fingerboard is made of solid rosewood for smooth, long-lasting performance and is fitted with 22 medium-jumbo frets. Like all Epiphones, the headstock is angled at 14 to provide excellent downward string pressure on the nut without the use of string-tree gadgets that often cause tuning problems. To provide further tuning stability and accuracy, the Junior features deluxe 14:1 covered machine heads. For accurate intonation, the vintage-style wrap-around Stopbar Bridge has adjustment screws at each post. For long-lasting performance and playability, an adjustable truss rod inside the neck allows for neck relief adjustment. Other features include nickel plated hardware and a "Limited Edition" logo on the back of the headstock.

As with all Epiphones, the limited edition Les Paul Junior is backed by Epiphone's Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 Customer Service.

This guitar doesn't stay in tune, the input jack needs to be replace about two-three weeks after having it, the paint chips easily and makes your hands stick to the neck which slows you down when playing this guitar, the pickups are some of the worst I've ever seen on a guitar for it being a BRAND NEW guitar, and the bridge is not aligned correctly with the rest of the guitar so anything past about the 7th or ninth fret hardly ever comes out the way it should sound. The tension was completely off... as well on this guitar with the E, the D, and the G strings hitting the 1st fret which will constantly give you that bad sound from it constantly vibrating off of it. This was also due to the fact the bridge wasn't properly aligned as well. I Do NOT recommend this Guitar to anyone, Beginners, experience players, or even anyone who is on a tight budget for that matter. Avoid this guitar at all costs!!!!

OH MY GOD!!!

By Raul

from San Diego

today i went to guitarcenter and saw a sunburst lp jr. and said i'll buy one, and asked if that was the only color there was. he said there is black and cherry too, i asked to see it, and when i saw it i bought it. when i got home i realized it was a limited edition and a mahogany body and neck too!!. the guitar is gorgeous. the pickup sounds amazing! no muddiness. i have no tuning problems what soever. the neck feels great with the slim profile. the intonation on my was just perfect. there is no limit with this guitar. it's worth every dime. the cherry color looks amazing. the guitar is not to heavy and not too light, just perfect. a great guitar for all ages, beginners and pro's.

Rocks!

By hot lunch

from Dallas, TX

I bought this guitar because I wanted something inexpensive to learn on and I love the LP look. I chose this Junior over the "Special" Junior because this one is made out of mahogany rather than "tonewood." Whatever that its. I was not disappointed. This guitar sounds great clean, and even better on the drive channel - I played "Brain Stew" and it sounded just like Green Day. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the tuners are not that great, and the pick guard had a scratch on it when the guitar arrived. But, for the $$ and a great sound, it wasn't worth sending it back for the scratch.

butter... delicious guitar

By Edgar

from El paso

this guitar looks great, its soft and fast, great clean tone and great distortion. this guitar its so awsome that is only found in store and they are rare. watch out for something, make sure that its a limited edition and not the normal one, cuz i think that the bad reveiws are from the normal one cuz they came in the same color, just check for the limited edition in the back of the guitar, its a good buy.

Sweet Little Thing

By abel

from bishop, tx

I had been eying this guitar for a while now and went into GC, plugged it in and wow...this guitar is friggin great. I took it home that day. I own 2 other guitars, a Rouge by Squier and an Ibanez Jet King 4 all playing out of a 50 watt Peavey Classic VT series. Pros: The clean tone this guitar gives is pretty amazing which I like alot. It's no jangly like my Rouge but that 700T humbucker puts out and even more with gain and distortion. I use it with a metal zone pedal and darn, the crunch blows me away. The finish is hot as heckl and the black pup guard is a great contrast. One volume nob, one tone nob, simple. Cons: I wanted more bottom end but you can't get it considering it only has a bridge pickup. Of course, you would should already know this. The tuning keys are not great so getting a new machine heads is a priority. I give this guitar 5 stars cause I think with a couple hundred dollars worth of investments, would turn this guitar into a beast.

Good for the price

By attila

from munster,in

I got this guitar for my Christmas. It does look beautiful with this red finish. It does have some downsides. Chords do not sound very good on clean amp settings. They tend to sound whiny or high pitched. The tuners do also occasionally buzz. This is a great beginner guitar but it is not for the experienced player.
