This guitar is the third guitar I have owned. Previously I had a Fender Strat and a Epiphone SG. This guitar is just great. The quality is astounding for the price and the overall feel of the les pauls makes it worth every penny. I would say that this Guitar is great for Intermediate players like myself. Advanced players, with cash would probably go get the Gibson Silverburst. But for this price and its quality, even if you are a pro this is just one hell of a deal. 5 stars what a beautiful guitar.

I bought the first one back in november, and this guitar had so many cosmetic flaws,i could'nt beleive it made through inspection!each guiter comes with a inspection card signed by the inspecter!the guitar was missing the pick-guard,and made it through!!!?????so i called gc,and they overnighted me another one, this one was much better for about a week, until the tone knob stopped working, and the thing would'nt stay in tune!!!so i called gc again, the people who answer the phones at gc are super nice!!unlike the ones who work at the stores!i will be receiving my third attemp tommorrow.im going over it with a fine tooth comb, and if it does'nt meet my standards!!i give up on this guitar and i want a refund!i hope its nice!

A "No-Brainer" Deal

By church_mouse03

from Weymouth, MA

Just the looks, alone, draw you in to this magnificent piece. How it plays is only an after thought. But let me tell ya, this axe is nasty! And, at a fraction of the price of a "Gibson", it's an absolute no-brainer. My package arrived yesterday and, right out of the box, I was awe-struck by the quality finish and the deep shine on the body... perfectly contrasted by the chrome hardware and pearl inlays. But when I tuned the strings and played it, I couldn't believe how sweet this guitar felt in my hands. The neck action was perfect right out of the box. I played it clean through my 60 watt Crate and the response and sustain was incredible! The thing practically plays itself! I've been playing only for a few years but there's just no way I'd drop $3400.00 on a Gibson VS. $500.00 on this Epi, where the difference in price does not even come close to quantifying the difference in quality. If not for the name on the headstock, I'd challenge anyone to reveal the difference between the two. I've played Gibson's LP just to humor myself at my local music supply store because there's no way I could afford one. Well... Problem solved, people! If you're on the fence about this one, it will not disappoint. For the price, how can you not pull the trigger if you've been lusting after it like I have?

Epiphone Hits a Homer on this One!

By Jake the Snake

from ny,NY

I previously aquired this guitar used. It was a rare find;perfect condition and priced excellently. My Epi LP Custom is actually the previous incarnation of this edition. It's the same guitar, but it's got a natural vintage sunburst finish rather than the silver finish, and the headstock has the 'les paul model' logo rather than the diamond on this one. As far as playability, you got the same features as a Gibson Les Paul. It's got a thin neck, rigid body. My only complaint is that the neck is finished so well, that it doesn't play as fast as a worn neck or a strat neck. But the action is great. Though I'm no metalist, I sometimes down-tune a step for clean songs, and the guitar still maintains powerful and comfortable acion. Sound-wise, everything you'd want from an LP; thick Jimmy Page treble tones and good bues rythym tones. The humbuckers are crafted well, but sometimes you can hear them rattle when you play unplugged, but who cares? By the way, the Epi LP isn't just a Gibson clone. Epi LP's have a bassier range, making them great rythym guitars. Thus, an Epi is a different guitar. It has nice deep clean tones, but it also has some nice crunchy treble features. It's no telecaster, but it's versatile enouph to imitate one in a band situation. Also, this guitar won't get out of tune for nothing. I've been in Greece for the past summer and when I got back, it was still in tune! Good stock tuners! Overall, this is not just a 'pretty' guitar, it's a healthy alternative to Gibson. Buy it know. I've been playing guitar for about a year, and this is a great quality guitar for the intermiediate player. It's a unique guitar with character. Thanks Epi!

Love It

By DieEierVonSatan

from Richmond, VA

Being a huge Tool fan this guitar is perfect for me, not only is it sleek, sounds amazing, and a fraction of the coast of the Gibson version its an all around great guitar. I've noticed some minor imperfections along the fretboard but that doesnt effect the over all sound of the guitar.... pictures truley dont show you the beauty of this axe.... true the silverburst on the epi is different from the gibson but i personaly think this one looks better... if your looking for a great guitar that all your buddys dont have pick it up

Epiphone always delivers.

By K. Lavadour

from Portland, Oregon

I can never say enough good things about Epiphone. This is my second Les Paul model (the first being a standard in the early 90's) and I am never dissapointed. This ltd edition silverburst custom Les Paul is solid, handsome, and reliable. And the price is affordable.

Absolute Beginner Guitar

By Joe

from Minnesota

Im sick of people telling me "wow you are really good you should get an epiphone." everyone makes fun of my fender style...theres no way this guitar compares to my american strat or telecaster no matter the price. The look is ok but otherwise cheap with bad craftsmanship....the paint usally runs and looks bad the neck is often off center and the frets are uneven on almost every epiphone.. I play blues to metal and this guitar is not near what i need range wise....heavy feedback and its not my amp unless you think marshal and fender make cheap amps. Beginner guitar for 5X as much.

Great Guitar!

By Rob

from Chicago, IL

I saw this guitar in person about a year ago. I played it for the first time and was amazed. It sounds awesome! I went back several times to Guitar Center to play it while I saved up my money to buy it. I recently purchased it last week and am very glad I did. I am in an active band, practicing and playing gigs every other week and I cant wait to get more stage time with it. I put some new strings on it and play it through my Line 6 Spider III amp. It plays great, the action it awesome and the finish is spectacular. I get many compliments from this guitar. Totally worth the money for any musician. If the finish doesn't make you want to buy it right away, the quality of this guitar will. Great product from Epiphone!

God, YES!!!!!

By Danny S.

from Lamar County, Texas

I have had this guitar for over two years and I am still in love with her. The paint is beautiful, the neck is fast, and it stays in tune really well. I installed the EMG Zakk Wylde 81/85 signature pickup set recently and that made it sound that much better. I play blues and heavy metal and this Les Paul can handle anything you throw at her. I play her through my Line 6 Spider 3 150 combo with a Marshall cab and i get excellent heavy bottom ends and face-melting scraming leads with this beast of a Paul. It may not be a Gibson, but it's a close second. I recommend this guitar to anyone and everyone.

Cant go wrong

By Paul

from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

This thing is amazing! i bought this thinking "its not a gibby so its not gonna sound good" (wanting to compare to my friends gibson, and also the fact i couldnt afford a gibson) But i was WAY WRONG! This thing is even a match to the gibson! The pickups are perfect, the neck is smooth, the action is amazing! all around beautiful. The only thing i would recommend getting is some strap locks because it will fall if your not careful, and get the input jack fixed to where it will not mess up or become loose. other than that it is perfect!

Quality Piece

By Philip

from San Diego, CA

For the price, this axe is a steal. Out of the box this thing shines. I was skeptical at first because I didn't know how it would measure up to my Gibson SG Special. I was pretty impressed when I plugged it in. The tones weren't as soft as the SG's humbuckers, but it was clean, especially out of my Marshall MG50DFX. After I trashed those stock strings and put on some Black Beauties, it was more impressive. Already owning the SG and a Fender HSS, I've always wanted a Les Paul and this is very satisfying. With the custom silverburst top, Les Paul Custom logo on the head, and the Les Paul Custom trademark diamond logo on the head it just looks like a winner
