Overview

Epiphone presents the Ltd. Ed. Les Paul Custom PRO KOA featuring a KOA top, and critically acclaimed ProBucker humbucker pickups with coil-splitting along with Les Paul Custom style gold hardware, fully bound body, neck and headstock, Graphtech nut, and pearloid inlays.

“The World’s Most Beautiful Electric Guitar”
The Les Paul Custom made its debut in 1954 after the initial success of the Les Paul Goldtop. Mr. Les Paul himself wanted to convey to audiences that the electric guitar was not a fad but a superb and challenging instrument—the king of all electric solid body guitars. So, Les requested a Les Paul with a custom finish and gold hardware that would look sophisticated on any size stage. The Les Paul Custom quickly became one of the most recognized guitars in the world and Les himself used his Les Paul Custom in concerts, on his weekly television show with wife Mary Ford, and on his album covers, including his famous duet with pal Chet Atkins, Chester and Lester. Now with a stunning figured KOA top with a Natural finish and Epiphone’s superior ProBucker humbucker pickups with coil-splitting, you’ll agree that the Epiphone Les Paul Custom PRO KOA is indeed one of the world’s most beautiful guitars.

Les Paul Power With a KOA Top
The Ltd. Ed. Les Paul Custom PRO KOA features a warm, tone rich figured KOA top along with the Custom’s traditional solid mahogany body in a rare Natural finish and 5-ply white and black binding on the KOA top and Mahogany back as well as the “Custom” classic headstock. Just like Les’ personal Custom, the Les Paul Custom PRO KOA has a solid Mahogany 24.75 in. scale neck with white binding that’s hand-fitted and glued-in for optimum neck-to-body contact so the Les Paul Custom PRO KOA resonates as single piece of wood. The Rosewood fingerboard has pearloid block inlays, a 12 in. radius, a 1.68 in. Graphtech nut, and 22 medium-jumbo frets.

ProBucker Power With Coil-Splitting
The Les Paul Custom PRO KOA is powered by Epiphone’s critically acclaimed ProBucker pickups, a 4-wire design with coil-splitting inspired by Gibson’s legendary BurstBuckers. ProBucker pickups recreate the sound of the original hand-wound “PAF” humbuckers made by Seth Lover at the Kalamazoo factory in the late ’50s. Epiphone ProBuckers feature all the same ingredients as original PAF and BurstBucker pickups, including Alnico II magnets, Elektrisola magnet wire, 18% nickel silver unit bases and covers, and pole screws, slugs and bobbins manufactured to Gibson’s original specifications. The result is a phenomenal pickup that, over time, will develop the subtle, one-of-a-kind characteristics that you can only get from vintage humbuckers. And best of all, those unique pickup characteristics will give your guitar a unique “voice.” No two vintage Les Pauls sound alike and ProBuckers give your Epiphone Les Paul Custom PRO KOA a one-of-a-kind sound that will get better the more you play.

The Les Paul Custom PRO KOA includes a ProBucker-2 humbucker in the neck position that is slightly overwound for greater definition at higher volumes. The bridge pickup is a ProBucker-3 humbucker, which is also slightly overwound to give your solos a wide tonal range. Each pickup features coil-splitting via a push/pull control at each pickup’s volume knob, which really gives the Les Paul Custom PRO KOA the ability to be any guitar you can imagine. All volume and tone controls feature full-size 500K Ω potentiometers matched with Epiphone’s rugged, all-metal, 3-way toggle pickup selector switch for long-lasting performance.

All-Metal Epiphone Hardware
Epiphone’s reputation for great guitars extends to its unbeatable hardware and the Epiphone Les Paul Custom PRO KOA delivers with a standard-setting gold LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and a gold Stopbar tailpiece for superb tuning stability. Plus gold Grover machine heads with an 18:1 ratio for fast and reliable tuning. A hard case is optional.

Definitely would buy again!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Custom Pro Koa Electric Guitar:

I've had it for 2 weeks and have been playing for around 2 hours a day on it. It almost sounds as good as my Gibson customs. You do have to dial it in on your amp because of the koa top. A little presence, back off the bass and add some mids and it comes to life!!

As real as it gets

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Custom Pro Koa Electric Guitar:

To really appreciate what this guitar is, you first need to sit down with the most expensive Les Paul in the store, most likely a $4000+ Gibson Custom. That way you will get most player's idea of what an LP should be. Then you are ready to plug up the Epi Koa Custom.
The similarities are going to out weight the differences by 10 to 1, maybe.
I found the neck on my particular model to be one of the finest that I've ever encountered on a LP. The fit, feel, fret-work, binding, and overall shape are flawless. That's subjective of course, but considering that I've been playing Pauls since the late 50's, I think that says something.
One other stricking feature is the tonal capabilities. There is no mud usually associated with buckers here, and the coil tapping offers an even greater expanse of sound. All of the controls, volume, tone, switching and taps are quite effective and operate with in complete silence.
And finally, take a good look at the top of this beauty. Do I have to say more?
I would plan to go for the extra cost of a decent hard-shell case ($100 - $150) because this guitar deserves a little TLC.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Custom Pro Koa Electric Guitar:

I sat down yesterday with plenty of cash ready to buy whatever guitar in guitar center that caught my eyes and ears. I played everything from Telecasters, Stratocaster, Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls, and SG's, i kept swapping until I narrowed it down to 2 guitars in the store, and to my amazement, BOTH of them were EPIPHONES Led Paul customs. The sound out of these 2 guitars pulled my soul into where it wanted to be. This particular guitar with the Koa top was my final choice, it has a tone out of this world, super smooth and not a single flaw. The neck on this thing was the best neck out of every single guitar that I picked up, and did I mention the tone OMG, like whip cream with a whip cream topping lol.
