I never looked that hard at Epiphones when guitar shopping. Now I look at them first thing when I hit Guitar Center. I own over 50 various guitars, mostly Gibson Les Pauls, etc. But I needed Axes I I could play every day, without worrying. Still, I wanted a great sound with easy to use controls. Enter the Epiphone Les Paul Spcl 2: it fits the bill perfectly....great sound, excellent action, totally inspiring to play, and affordable as well. Hey.. this guy ROCKS! It's easily my favorite for jamming with friends, or solo. I put upgraded strings on it, thats it. It holds its tune, plays great, looks great. I play it for hours at a time,'til my fingertips give out... Frets are spaced perfectly for my fat fingers, and the action is forgiving. The sound is awesome, especially when the body resonates, you can't go wrong.I ended up buying 2 more Epiphone models, the SG, and Les Paul Ultra. I have a blast playing, and no worries. Take a look at the Limited Edition, try it, buy it, fly it...For the Buck it's hard to get a better bang.

First of all, I bought this as my first electric guitar (was an acoustic guy before) and I thought it was a sweet deal. I was wrong. The frets are a pain on your fingers, the action is slow, and when you get to the lower frets, you cant even play them without dinging. I suggest you save up for any of the other Epiphone Les Paul models, because a Standard or even a Studio holds up better than this thing. This one is a waste of good money.

This is a Great Guitar

By slinginink69

This is a great guitar for a beginner. It has a pretty clean sound. I got the ebony with gold hardware and it looks smooth. Definately put new strings on it, i put some Earnie Ball super slinkies on mine and it did it alot of justice. I would recommend buying it you wont regreat it..

great first guitar but wears out quickly!

By dude

from Undisclosed

when i bought this guitar it worked great and would stay in tune very well. I was just starting out when i bought it and it seemed like a good guitar for a person starting out and doesn't want to spend alot of money. after about 4-5 months though i had 6 frets that were rattling. i tried changing the strings but it didn't work. it would come out of tune much faster and the sound started to get worse every day. so its a good beginner guitar but after you get better i recommend a better guitar.

Les Paul Special II Limited Edition Deluxe

By mnarjona746

from Pittsburgh,PA

A great guitar for the beginner to intermediate player. Has the great quality you can expect from an Epiphone and the great Guitar Center Value. The sound of this guitar is amazing as can be expected from an Les Paul. Easy to play and the gold hardware makes it look like like a true work of art. I have seen thuis guitar and am planning to get one myself in the very near future and am looking forward to it. As a hobbyist I highly reccomend this guitar because of its great value and high quality especially for the price.

Amazing!!!

By gibson342

When i first got the guitar i played it without the amp for awhile. even then it sounded awesome. But when i plugged it into my amp, WOW! I have never heard a better sounding guitar. It's way better than a fender strat, and nearly as good as a gibson lp standard!i got the vintage sunburst color cause i thot it looked cool and man, i love it! the gold color makes it look unbelievable! I strongle advise that anyone who wants to have a guitar that actually sounds good should by this. Its great.

This Guitar Rocks!

By Rakista Ng Bayan

When I bought this axe like 5 years ago, I had a great deal on this...plus if you are like jumping up and down onstage, this is a good reccomendation because this axe is not to heavy and not too light. It's easy to carry plus the tone rocks...like if you're just using the over drive, it's still that good.

Pretty Sweet Deal

By MulletRocker505

I bought this thing about three months ago and it was well worth the money. It's got great tone and pretty sick look to it aswell. This Les Paul help me get more of Zakk Wylde's tone on his signature wah pedal. But it makes me feel like my hero Ace Frehley. I definitley recommend this guitar.

wow what a beast

By Anonymous

from dallas, tx

in my time i have owned several guitars including a series 10 bass which i wish i never got rid of. it seems i played it better than a six string but decided to make the move with a flying v 6 string. and just recently went to the store to get a bundled pack with a cheap guitar and a amp package and ended up having the sales man help me decide a little better. he actualy show cased the guitars i was looking at. i decided on this one the epiphone special ii. as opposed to the other flashy ones. i liked the sound that came out of it and i ended up getting the crate 10 amp amp with a reverb switch on it..... would like to say i havent played in a long time and once i got this i havent really let it down for a long time i am now back into playing again so thanks to sales man at guitar center and this great guitar im back in the saddle again.....

Your Friends Will Think You Spent Big Bucks!

By oneman

from Somerset, NJ

There is simply no question this is a finely crafted electric, and in my opinion, looks a heck of a lot sharper than anything out there selling for less than three times this price. It keeps in tune well and has a nice feel to it. Unless you're extremely proficient and a little bit picky, you won't have a single complaint. And the PRICE!!!

Plays like a dream

By Marco Polo

from Texas

I bought this guitar last week and it is awesome! Since I play post-hardcore stuff it was perfect with distortion and the treble on with tone all the way up. it sounds really crunchy and still has a deep sounds when you palm mute the heavier notes. buy this guitar if you don't want to spend a gagillion dollars on a gibson.
