Overview

Jack Casady is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his pioneering work with Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna and was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Bass Player magazine in 2011. He's one of the rare rock bassists known by fans, players and even non-musicians for his signature tone.

The Ltd. Ed. Jack Casady Signature Bass features a classic semi-hollowbody design with a maple top and maple back and sides that is set off with elegant single ply cream binding on the top and back on a stunning, limited edition Silverburst color finish. The hand-set mahogany neck has a 1960s era rounded profile and features a 34" scale with a rosewood fingerboard, a 12" radius and a 1.6535" nut. Casady's trademark signature in gold typeface can be seen clearly on the classic Epiphone clipped dovewing headstock. The 2-ply truss rod cover features the iconic Epiphone "E" silkscreened in white and the black pickguard features the iconic foil Epiphone "E".

The Jack Casady Bass features a black covered JCB-1™ low impedance, low output pickup and employs a three-position VariGain™ switch to shape the sound and output levels. Try the "50" position for a direct studio recording or for a pure acoustic tone. The "500" level will give you a seriously fat tone that's perfect for blues, jazz or rock. And the "250" level will put you in-between. Take your pick! Controls feature black SpeedKnobs for master volume and tone.

It also features nickel hardware, die-cast "Clover" bass tuners and a 3-point adjustable bridge exactly like what the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer uses on-stage. Casady insisted that his own personal bass should be no different than any other Jack Casady Signature Bass.

WOW Love My Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass in Silverburst

By Charles Konopaski

from St George, SC

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Jack Casady Electric Bass Guitar:

I was a little worried about ordering a new bass without having a chance to see and play it first. I had read all the reviews and watched as many U-TUBE videos on it as I could find. When I visited our local Guitar Center and they told me I had a 30 no questions asked full refund, if I was unhappy with it just bring it back, Guarantee I decided to order the Ltd. Ed. Jack Casady Signature Bass in Silverburst. Now I can say I am very happy with my choice. When the Bass arrived I was really excited to open it up and check it out. I had read some reviews that said to check out the quality control of the bass as they have had issues with the QC of their Bass. I really checked out my new bass looking for even the smallest of defects. I am happy to say that I found none. This bass is beautiful. Next was to plug it into the AMPEG. WOW?. The sound was terrific. I did change out the strings that came with the ?Jack Casady? for a set of ?D?Addario Chromes Flat Wounds? for the warmer, mellower sound I was wanting. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend this Epiphone bass to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced great sounding semi hollow 4 string bass.

Beautiful

By scotty cantwell

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Jack Casady Electric Bass Guitar:

I already own the gold-top version, but purchased this silverburst because of it's a "limited edition," and because it looks freakin' cool. I ordered through the GC website and had it delivered to my local GC store in Roseville, CA. When I got it home and unpacked it, the first thing I noticed was how gorgeous it was; even better than in the stock picture on line. However, there was also a rather ugly flaw in the rosewood. It looked like a couple of gouges, about an inch long, were filled in with some sort of black plastic material, I think to try to hide them from any quick superficial inspection. This is completely unacceptable in a "new" instrument, and should have been immediately rejected in the quality control inspection at Epiphone prior to release for sale. With the replacement everything was as it should be; the rosewood was perfect, and everything fit tightly and functioned as it should. The only problem was a little bit a roughness in the plastic coating along the binding on the body. Again, this is something that should have been caught in a quality inspection, however, I was able scrape off what was only a build up of the plastic coating material so now it is virtually perfect. This was a bit irk-some, but since it was minor enough to fix myself, I decided I had a "keeper;" I didn't want to try another exchange, and risk getting something worse... Anyway, this bass looks, sounds, and plays awesome, just as I would expect after owning my gold top. I have flats on the gold-top, and decided to keep round-wounds on this new one, so I have another reason to have two of them besides just the color difference. Overall, I would say that, in spite of the disappointing level of quality control I experienced, that I am quite pleased with this bass. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of adding a bass to their arsenal that has great semi-hollow body tone, is a dream to play, and is strikingly gorgeous to look at. I would recommend, though, that you look it over thoroughly when you get one, because of the quality control issue. When you get a good one, though, you will love it.
