When i went to the store and played this guitar i hadnt looked at the brand yet. after playing it for a few seconds i thought it was gibson, in which case it would have been out of my price range. After trying many other guitars i decided to go back and check this one out again. The second time i played it i saw that it was epiphone i took one glance at the price tag and bought it right then and there. Everything about this guitar is perfect, the action, the frets, the bridge, the tuners, the finish, the sound. I would highly recomend this guitar to anyone who is looking to get an amazing guitar for an amazing pr

I ordered this online and had it shipped to me because there wasn't one in the enter to try. I read several reviews and my son had a Epiphone AJ200 I had played, so I really thought this was a good choice for the money and as a starter guitar for me. When it arrived my first thought was the carton is really light for having a full sized guitar in it. Afetr getting through all the paper and packing the guitar itself had no weight to it at all, not even compared to my sons Epiphone. In fact I picked up my sons guitar and compared the two, and the new guitar was at least half the weight of my sons, if not more. The wood was noticably thinner on the newer one all around, on the front , back, sides and neck. Ok, so things change, and I can live with a light guitar as long as it sounds good. Looking the whole guitar over I noticed the fit and finish were both sloppy and at a minimum, and not up to Epiphone's reputation. There was a blemish over an inch long on the bottom curvature that was "under" the finish and certainly had to have been noticed by quality control which alone should have made this guitar a "second". There were more finish failures (which I know from experience and schooling) were caused by putting a finish over dust particles. I read the label and saw it was made in Indonesia, obviously without someone from Epiphone ever seeing it, because this thing can only be described as "rough". I finally gave it a strum and then hoped what I was hearing would go away after a tune. I used my sons electronic tuner and even stretched the strings and re-tuned, only to find the "tinny" sound didn't go away. I pondered putting a set of Elixir's on it but decided instead to just to return it. I drove to the Guitar Center and explained my disappointment and the good folks there understood my frustration and worked with me to find a replacement right then. I will add, the Salesperson tuned this guitar himself and played it. His description was, "buzzy and tinny" so it wasn't just me. I will not order a guitar without playing it again, and I certainly would not recommend THIS guitar to anyone for any reason.

Good Guitar for the Cash

By Scott R

from Keller Texas

I give this guitar 3 stars because it is an entry level guitar. A great guitar for the money invested. This not by no means of a 5 star guitar as a $5000.00 guitar would be. Finish is great, build is good. Sound is very good for a cheaper guitar. My tuners buzzy which an get annoying. Frets are done nicely. Sounds good with Elixier Polyweb strings. Action is very nice. I prefer a little wider width at the nut. But overall it is a beautiful, that sounds good, easy to play. I strongly recommend this guitar for a beginner, but an intermediate to advanced player may be a little disappointed.

Beautiful Acoustic

By Miyoshi F

from Pomona, CA

Bought this guitar as a gift for my son. Out of the box, its a beautiful acoustic. After I tuned it, the sound was very nice. I'm not a guitar player, I'm a brass player so I look forward to hearing my son play it. I think he will love it.

Sounds Great!

By EpicMars

from Fort Benning, Ga.

I got mine exactly 3 days after ordering it. It sounds just beautiful! It arrived with a corner of the pick guard already lifting so if i could, i would give it 4 1/2 stars. I don't recommend a guitar of this size for petite women, it's not easy to play. Still, overall I am very satisfied with this guitar. It looks great and sounds amazing!

Nice guitar...great value!

By Jammin4Jesus

from Santa Clarita, CA

I had heard some good things about the "Limited Edition" Epiphone Hummingbird Artist guitar...solid wood top, nice finish, pearloid inlays, nice binding, rich (not thin) tone, etc. My local Guitar Center was out-of-stock so I placed a special order which arrived in just a few days. Beautiful guitar...mine is the Vintage Sunburst finish. The first thing I started to do (out of habit) was to change and upgrade the strings...only to discover that the guitar came from the factory equipped with D'Addario EJ-16 Phosphor Bronze strings! No change necessary! After tuning the guitar, I found the setup, action and intonation "out of the box" to be right on. Again, no adjustments or modifications needed. Nice tone and playability...a pleasure to play! Great value for the money! Epiphone really did a nice job on this guitar!

Good Value

By Dewey

from Holliston, Mass

I bought this guitar exactly one year ago when I decided to start playing again, and I have no regrets. After about six months, it developed a buzz on the fifth and sixth strings at frets 7-11. I replaced the saddle and pins with Tusq, and the strings with 12-53 Nanoweb Elixirs. The factory had set the action at fret 12 to 5/64, which is a little low, so I raised it to 7/64 when I replaced the saddle, and it plays just great now. The scale is actually 24 3/4 inches just like a Gibson H'Bird not 25 1/2 inches advertised. The body is 20 inches long and it's 15 3/4 inches wide at the bout, slightly smaller than a Gibson H'Bird, though its seems to be as deep. After a year of playing about 4 hours each day, it still looks great, and it still smells like the cedar on the inside of the laminated back piece. The top has softened a bit and it has a warmer tone than it did when new. It's not a Gibson or a Martin D series, but it sounds and plays great. A friend with a Gibson J50 and a Martin D28 says it sounds a lot like an Epiphone Texan. This is a great choice for a solid top acoustic!

Artist is awesome!

By Chase

from Florida

I got this guitar not too long ago, about a few months ago. I had a slight problem with the tuners though, they were a bit suckish and buzzed on me. So I picked myself up some Grovers and this guitar sounds amazing. For this price it's awesome.

Beautiful guitar, matched with beautiful sound!

By Ryan

from San Jose, CA

I am new to guitar playing. I bought this Epiphone about a month or so ago, and man, am I blown away. First of all, since I was new to guitar, the first thing that caught my eye, was the beauty of the guitar. The fretboard is beautiful with the designs up and down it. The lime green tuners are a spectacle, and they looks and feel like real Jade. The headstock is phenomenal, as well as the pick-guard. The pick guard looks like a dream, it is beautiful!! The backs and sides of the guitar are breathtaking, and the wood is such a warm crisp color, I could just stare at it all day. Now my first impressions of the guitar sound were great. I had strummed a couple of the higher end and more expensive ones in the store, and this one easily had the most appealing sound. A very full-bodied warm and pleasant sound is emitted from this beauty. At first, I had just thought this was a basic guitar, but when my friends who had played guitar for years saw it, they became pretty jealous, this is a great guitar! I love it so much, and plan to have it for a very long time.

Great Guitar !!

By #NAME?

from canton, Ohio

First off let me say that this is a great guitar for the money and I would recommend it for sure. That said, dont expect a $2000 guitar for $249. The fit and finish on mine was very good. I could see some glue around the sound hole but nothing major. After a few weeks I started to get buzzing on the low E string. I decided to take it into my local guitar shop and get it set up. I'm not a guy who normally tears into a guitar and makes allot of changes but I did have a few minor things done that made a huge difference. At the recomendation of the shop I replaced the plastic bridge and pins with tusk. They also adjusted the neck and some of the frets. WOW!! This thing sounds and plays amazing! I have guitars that cost 5 times the price of this one. This has become the go to guitar in my studio. Love the bluesy tone. It sounds great picked and holds together under heavy strumming too. For the money I don't think you could find a better value. I dont see any reason why it shouldn't perform well for many years. Go for it!
