I ordered this online and had it shipped to me because there wasn't one in the enter to try. I read several reviews and my son had a Epiphone AJ200 I had played, so I really thought this was a good choice for the money and as a starter guitar for me. When it arrived my first thought was the carton is really light for having a full sized guitar in it. Afetr getting through all the paper and packing the guitar itself had no weight to it at all, not even compared to my sons Epiphone. In fact I picked up my sons guitar and compared the two, and the new guitar was at least half the weight of my sons, if not more. The wood was noticably thinner on the newer one all around, on the front , back, sides and neck. Ok, so things change, and I can live with a light guitar as long as it sounds good. Looking the whole guitar over I noticed the fit and finish were both sloppy and at a minimum, and not up to Epiphone's reputation. There was a blemish over an inch long on the bottom curvature that was "under" the finish and certainly had to have been noticed by quality control which alone should have made this guitar a "second". There were more finish failures (which I know from experience and schooling) were caused by putting a finish over dust particles. I read the label and saw it was made in Indonesia, obviously without someone from Epiphone ever seeing it, because this thing can only be described as "rough". I finally gave it a strum and then hoped what I was hearing would go away after a tune. I used my sons electronic tuner and even stretched the strings and re-tuned, only to find the "tinny" sound didn't go away. I pondered putting a set of Elixir's on it but decided instead to just to return it. I drove to the Guitar Center and explained my disappointment and the good folks there understood my frustration and worked with me to find a replacement right then. I will add, the Salesperson tuned this guitar himself and played it. His description was, "buzzy and tinny" so it wasn't just me. I will not order a guitar without playing it again, and I certainly would not recommend THIS guitar to anyone for any reason.

Great Bang For Your Acoustic Buck

By John Hauptman

from Lanark IL.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar from GC in Rockford IL. I was going to buy the ebony at first, but I had to wait a week for it to get shipped. I saw a cherryburst model in the store and fell in love. First off; Its a very nice LOOKING guitar. For the price, ya figured they would skimp on the finish...not so. Nice body finish-very bright, nice job on the inlays, and the back and sides are beautiful. The guy at GC set mine up really nice. Low action and a nice set of Elixers. It plays like a cloud. I plan on an upgrade to some graphtech bridgepins, nut and bridge, but for now...Nice sustain and dreadnaught boom. The sound is what ya would expect. Big bass, nice mids and round highs. I recomend this guitar to any budget minded player who wants a nice looking guitar that plays well and sounds as good as it looks.

Not what i was expecting.

By john j

from philadelphia, pa

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

i was shopping around for a cheaper guitar and came across this one on a few sites. most people who leave reviews say how great it is in every aspect. well, i for one do not agree. i found the faded cherry version at a store and could not believe that people were raving about this guitar. maybe my problem was that i was expecting a lot more but i must confess i was really let down. my biggest problem and to most is nothing major im sure but the tuners were light green and plastic. im sure epiphone/gibson could afford much better if they are trying to carbon copy one of gibsons greatest guitars for way cheaper. i own an epiphone ej 200 and compared to the epiphone hummingbird there is no comparison. the ej 200 kills it. sound wise and play ability it was ok. good but not great. you can get so much better for the same price. for those who cant afford a gibson hummingbird i guess this will hold you over but i for one would look else where first.

EXCELLENT!!!!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

Excellent Guitar- Couldn't ask for more. I am going to buy one after my next job. As for the review about the tuners, These tuners with the greenish knobs are beautiful. These were the style tuners used on alot of Gibson guitars. This guitar could not be better. You can find one with more Frills and stuff, but nothing thats a better quality, expecially not for the price. Personally I dont care for the frilly looking guitars. I like things simple and clean. This is a beautiful quality guitar great for any level of guitar player.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar has the sweet hummingbird tone at a reasonable price. The appearance of this guitar is classic from the fret board design to the tulip style tuners. Why pay more when you can have it all? A solid built guitar you'll be proud to show off!!

AMAZING

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I was looking for a good acoustic guitar and I came upon this one. It had a great distinct look to it, a little off from the rest of the sunbursts, but it was great none the less. I picked it up and it had a great sound to it. After trying numerous great guitars that were much higher priced, I came back to this one and once again, sounded great. AMAZING GUITAR AMAZING VALUE!!!!

Sweet guitar for the price

By zac

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I got this guitar to mess around with, and later installed electronics. It has a very bassy and distinct sound that cuts through really well. Finish looks great, and it plays wonderfully. People always ask me if it was expensive, and tell me how great it sounds. I really like this guitar so far, and hope it stands the test of time.

Awesome Guitar!! Great Value!

By GregM

from Morristown, NJ

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I initally wanted to buy a solid wood guitar because I thought the sustainability would be better. Well I tried a Taylor DN3 and this guitar in GC and both guitar's sustain were about the same. I couldnt believe it. You pluck a string on this Artist and it will hum for quite a while. It sounds great. Just a nice warm tone. This guitar has low action which makes it easy to play, even for a relative beginner like me. The neck fits my hand perfectly. That's one thing any person wanting to buy a guitar should check. Does it fit my hand? If you are looking for a guitar for any reason, I would say to check this one out. It's beautiful, plays easy, sounds great, and has incredible sustainability.

Very pleased!!

By Robert Arntz

from Martinez, Georgia

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I ordered this guitar from Guitar Center and recieved it very well packaged. When I removed the guitar to check it out I was very surprised to find that it had already been adjusted for proper string height at the nut and bridge and came with documentation showing all adjustments that were made. All I had to do was tune it and start playing. I have always had to adjust every guitar previously bought before playing. The finish is very nice and looks great. I would recommend the Epiphone Humingbird Artist to anyone and would play this guitar anywhere for any occasion as it sounds and looks great. The price is unbeatable for such a good quality guitar. Sincerely, Robert Georgia

Nice Bird

By Edawrd Reyering

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

Picked up a used "Epi" Hummingbird Artist, what a pleasent surprise! I like things simlpe, no frills, eye pleasing, good sound. This guitar will be with me for a long time! With the addition of a Graph-Tech nut and bridge saddle and pins, D'addario Phos/Bronze Lt. Ga. strings, this bird has soared to new heights. I added custom hummingbird stickers to the pickgaurd from Japan. For about $50, this plays and looks as good as a Gibson!

Good Guitar for the Cash

By Scott R

from Keller Texas

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I give this guitar 3 stars because it is an entry level guitar. A great guitar for the money invested. This not by no means of a 5 star guitar as a $5000.00 guitar would be. Finish is great, build is good. Sound is very good for a cheaper guitar. My tuners buzzy which an get annoying. Frets are done nicely. Sounds good with Elixier Polyweb strings. Action is very nice. I prefer a little wider width at the nut. But overall it is a beautiful, that sounds good, easy to play. I strongly recommend this guitar for a beginner, but an intermediate to advanced player may be a little disappointed.

Great Guitar !!

By #NAME?

from canton, Ohio

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

First off let me say that this is a great guitar for the money and I would recommend it for sure. That said, dont expect a $2000 guitar for $249. The fit and finish on mine was very good. I could see some glue around the sound hole but nothing major. After a few weeks I started to get buzzing on the low E string. I decided to take it into my local guitar shop and get it set up. I'm not a guy who normally tears into a guitar and makes allot of changes but I did have a few minor things done that made a huge difference. At the recomendation of the shop I replaced the plastic bridge and pins with tusk. They also adjusted the neck and some of the frets. WOW!! This thing sounds and plays amazing! I have guitars that cost 5 times the price of this one. This has become the go to guitar in my studio. Love the bluesy tone. It sounds great picked and holds together under heavy strumming too. For the money I don't think you could find a better value. I dont see any reason why it shouldn't perform well for many years. Go for it!

Beautiful guitar, matched with beautiful sound!

By Ryan

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I am new to guitar playing. I bought this Epiphone about a month or so ago, and man, am I blown away. First of all, since I was new to guitar, the first thing that caught my eye, was the beauty of the guitar. The fretboard is beautiful with the designs up and down it. The lime green tuners are a spectacle, and they looks and feel like real Jade. The headstock is phenomenal, as well as the pick-guard. The pick guard looks like a dream, it is beautiful!! The backs and sides of the guitar are breathtaking, and the wood is such a warm crisp color, I could just stare at it all day. Now my first impressions of the guitar sound were great. I had strummed a couple of the higher end and more expensive ones in the store, and this one easily had the most appealing sound. A very full-bodied warm and pleasant sound is emitted from this beauty. At first, I had just thought this was a basic guitar, but when my friends who had played guitar for years saw it, they became pretty jealous, this is a great guitar! I love it so much, and plan to have it for a very long time.

Artist is awesome!

By Chase

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I got this guitar not too long ago, about a few months ago. I had a slight problem with the tuners though, they were a bit suckish and buzzed on me. So I picked myself up some Grovers and this guitar sounds amazing. For this price it's awesome.

Good Value

By Dewey

from Holliston, Mass

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar exactly one year ago when I decided to start playing again, and I have no regrets. After about six months, it developed a buzz on the fifth and sixth strings at frets 7-11. I replaced the saddle and pins with Tusq, and the strings with 12-53 Nanoweb Elixirs. The factory had set the action at fret 12 to 5/64, which is a little low, so I raised it to 7/64 when I replaced the saddle, and it plays just great now. The scale is actually 24 3/4 inches just like a Gibson H'Bird not 25 1/2 inches advertised. The body is 20 inches long and it's 15 3/4 inches wide at the bout, slightly smaller than a Gibson H'Bird, though its seems to be as deep. After a year of playing about 4 hours each day, it still looks great, and it still smells like the cedar on the inside of the laminated back piece. The top has softened a bit and it has a warmer tone than it did when new. It's not a Gibson or a Martin D series, but it sounds and plays great. A friend with a Gibson J50 and a Martin D28 says it sounds a lot like an Epiphone Texan. This is a great choice for a solid top acoustic!

Nice guitar...great value!

By Jammin4Jesus

from Santa Clarita, CA

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I had heard some good things about the "Limited Edition" Epiphone Hummingbird Artist guitar...solid wood top, nice finish, pearloid inlays, nice binding, rich (not thin) tone, etc. My local Guitar Center was out-of-stock so I placed a special order which arrived in just a few days. Beautiful guitar...mine is the Vintage Sunburst finish. The first thing I started to do (out of habit) was to change and upgrade the strings...only to discover that the guitar came from the factory equipped with D'Addario EJ-16 Phosphor Bronze strings! No change necessary! After tuning the guitar, I found the setup, action and intonation "out of the box" to be right on. Again, no adjustments or modifications needed. Nice tone and playability...a pleasure to play! Great value for the money! Epiphone really did a nice job on this guitar!

Sounds Great!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar:

I got mine exactly 3 days after ordering it. It sounds just beautiful! It arrived with a corner of the pick guard already lifting so if i could, i would give it 4 1/2 stars. I don't recommend a guitar of this size for petite women, it's not easy to play. Still, overall I am very satisfied with this guitar. It looks great and sounds amazing!

Bought this guitar as a gift for my son. Out of the box, its a beautiful acoustic. After I tuned it, the sound was very nice. I'm not a guitar player, I'm a brass player so I look forward to hearing my son play it. I think he will love it.
