The classic Epiphone Genesis was one of Epiphone's most original and modern designs when it was first published in the Epiphone catalog in late 1979. It was intended as a new beginning for Epiphone--a truly original solid body design that could hold its ground with a Les Paul, giving players the added advantage of an eye-catching double cutaway. The proposed Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO would bring back this collector's favorite in all its original glory with added features like coil-tapping, Epiphone ProBucker pickups and Grover tuners along with a beautiful AAA flame maple veneer top and solid mahogany body in four new beautiful color finishes, including Black Cherry, Midnight Ebony, Midnight Sapphire, and Vintage Sunburst.

Original Genesis Ads circa 1979
Early Genesis ads proclaimed "this isn't a guitar for shy people" and "we've created a monster," and you can see why. Along with its bold shape and beautiful finish, the Genesis featured coil-tapping for both pickups via a separate toggle switch. Coil-tapping was a new concept to guitar players and the original Genesis was a bold instrument with a warm sound that could do anything from hard rock to fusion jazz with its incredible sustain from the mahogany body. In many ways, the Genesis was part of Epiphone's longstanding tradition of giving players more for their money at a level of quality and consistency other guitar makers can't maintain. Today, Epiphone is still a leader in giving players a custom shop experience. The Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO would take it a step further by adding Epiphone's bold ProBucker pickups with individual coil-tapping for the rhythm and lead pickups to potentially put the Genesis back to its rightful place among Epiphone's greatest instruments.

AAA Flame Maple Top and Futuristic Features
The Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO would combine a solid mahogany body with a AAA flame maple veneer, delivering the classic tone and sustain that made the Genesis stand out in a crowd. The double cutaway body features 1-ply cream binding on the top for a beautiful vintage look. The mahogany neck has a 24.75" scale with a 12" radius and features a 1960s SlimTaper "D" profile--a player's favorite--along with a glued-in neck joint for lifelong stability. The rosewood fingerboard comes with pearloid trapezoid inlays, 22 medium-jumbo frets and a 1.68" nut along with single ply cream binding along the fingerboard.

Genesis Power: Epiphone ProBucker Humbuckers with Coil-Tapping
The original Genesis model featured coil-tapping via a small mini toggle. However, the original Genesis did not allow for coil-tapping each individual pickup. The new Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO zooms into the 21st century with ProBucker pickups with coil-tapping on both the rhythm and lead pickups. ProBucker pickups feature Alnico II magnets, the same magnets used in sought-after vintage PAF humbuckers. Alnico II magnets provide a rich, warm tone with a sparkling high end and a solid low end. The Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO features a ProBucker-2 in the neck position and a ProBucker-3 in the bridge position. The ProBucker-3 is slightly overwound to provide balance with the neck pickup with an added bit of edge for lead work. ProBuckers emulate the sound of original PAF pickups which were hand-wound with a few extra turns of wire.

Both of the Ltd. Ed. Genesis PRO's pickups feature coil-tapping, which is activated by a push/pull volume SpeedKnob control, allowing players an infinite variety of pickups sounds from single-coil bark to full humbucker bite. When winding humbuckers, Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures quiet operation, free from microphonic hum. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is placed on the unit to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax. Epiphone uses only the highest quality parts for its pickups, such as ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, Alnico magnets and the finest magnet wire available.

A Classic Made to Last a Lifetime
The Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO features Epiphone's legendary rock-solid gold hardware including a LockTone Tune-o-matic fully adjustable bridge and a Stopbar tailpiece. And now, Epiphone's updated, patent pending design auto locks the bridge and tailpiece in place with no tools needed! This also results in improved sustain. The Epiphone Ltd. Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO uses 1" diameter potentiometers for better "throw," longer life and reliable service. Epiphone's all-metal toggle switches use rugged spring-steel contacts to ensure years of reliable service and performance. Epiphone's proprietary output jack features an improved contact shape and heavy-duty spring steel to increase reliability and gold Grover 14:1 machine heads on a classic '60s era Epiphone Sloped Dovewing headstock to ensure tuning stability and long life.

Genesis Delux Pro Limited Edition - Great Buy

from Marietta

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO Electric Guitar:

When I first saw the ad for the Genesis I knew I wanted one . I placed a special order for the Dark Cherry model and tried to order the hardshell case (notice " tried") but GC couldn't find it listed in their system. When it arrived it was a work of art-not a flaw in the finish the laminate body top was perfect - equal to or better than the 60's Les Paul Custom I had .The pickups sound great - warm and good sustain in the humbucker mode - single coil mode I'm still trying to get a tone I like. I have two vintage guitars with single coil pickups in them (Gibson and Fender) and both seem to have a fuller sound in them than the Genesis single coil mode. Tuners and bridge are great- action is good but needs some fine tuning to be great. Getting the custom case was a PAIN finally had to talk with Mitchell, a mamager, who solved my problem in short order. The case had to be custom ordered but was worth the wait- solidily built super thick padding with a yellow/gold color that will blind you! Overall I think this is a GREAT guitar solid build, a perfect finish, great sound only improvement I could even vision would be this model having the "Nano-Mag" pickup added as on my 339 Ultra - that would be a mind blowing combination,, Hunbuckers/single coil/Nano-Mag (I have to wonder if it could be added now). Completely Surprised

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO Electric Guitar:

I have played Gibson and Epiphone guitars for 30 years, mostly Les Paul's, and had never heard of the Genesis. To be completely honest the only reason I bought it was because it was on sale at the time at an incredible price but I'd have bought it at list if I'd have played it first. The guitar was supposed to be professionally set up but you know how that goes. It came out of the box almost in tune and with perfect intonation but the strings were a good 1/8" to high. I lowered the bridge to the height I wanted, the intonation stayed perfect and we were off to the races. This guitar is so versatile it's unbelievable. I've had several guitars, including the Epi version of the Alex Lifeson Les Paul and a Gibson Les Paul Traditional, that had coil taps but they didn't do a lot. When you split the bridge pickup on the Genesis you go straight into Strat mode. The tonal combinations are unlimited. And don't think this guitar can't get nasty because is surely can. The guitar is beautiful, plays and sounds great. It's touch on the heavy side, unless you are already used to playing a Les Paul sized solid body, but it's balanced. I highly recommend this guitar. Especially if, like me, you need to be able to cover a wide range of material live. I normally use 3 guitars live but with this one I can cut down to 2 and if it had a tremolo I could cut it to one. It really sounds that good and is that versatile.

    What a BUY

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO Electric Guitar:

FIRST - Im not a pro guitarist - I've been playing 50+ years - my public gigs were southern R&R and southern Blues early in my life --- the Genesis is a great guitar - first off mine was a special order arrived in the sealed box and was in perfect condition the finish was perfect as good or better than any Gibson I bought in the past - the tone with the Humbuckers is great - Grover tuners are fine - still checking out the "single coil" tone option and it may grow on me - the action is very good - I'm slowly lowering it so it is still a trial in progress but even when I feel it is kinda high it plays like a dream - IMO this is a BEST BUY and since a Limited Edition a BUY IT NOW purchase. This guitar is GREAT

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Genesis Deluxe PRO Electric Guitar:

I am a beginner and was playing a guitar that I built from parts of diffrent guitars. (Not good parts)but it eas.enough to give me the fever.I received gift cards from GS for christmas and wanted to purchase a decent used guitar. I looked on line and then decided to go into our local store. I had had my heart set on a strat until I saw the Genesis and had to have it. I thought the price on it was wrong. So after I purchased the guitar I commented to the GS salesman that this should be a good.beginner guitar, the gentalman that was behind me said that is no beginner guitar and I have a pro level instrument. I thought he was tust tring to make me feel good. But after 3months of practicing I have joined a band. Every member in the band said that I have a great guitar and how much they love the tone. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone at any level.Thank you GC for talking me into the epiphone genesis. I love it
