Ever since the Epiphone Dot was introduced over ten years ago, Epiphone's recreation of the venerable ES-335 "Dot" has been wowing guitar players all over the world. Now, the Dot Black Royale gives the ES-335 Dot tradition a whole new makeover with a stunning Black Pearl finish, silver sparkle binding and nickel hardware totally unlike anything Epiphone has offered before.

Though Epiphone was long famous for its own original semi-hollowbody designs from the 1950s Kalamazoo, Michigan era, including the Riviera and Sheraton, the simple, classic ES-335 style was missing. The re-introduction of the Epiphone Dot, named in reference to its simple "dot" fingerboard inlays, now makes the legendary sustain and resonance of the 335 available to all guitarists without the vintage headaches or pricetag. Now with the Dot Royale, this legend has an all new look.

Semi-hollow Design, Solid Craftsmanship
The Dot Black Royale is constructed of premium laminated maple with a mahogany center block and a hand-fitted, glued-in mahogany neck. Other details include a rosewood fingerboard with traditional œDot inlay, quality electronic parts including full-size, 1 500K Ohm potentiometers, Epiphone's all-metal pickup selector switch, historic metal Epiphone name œbadge on the headstock, and a heavy-duty output jack. Its fabulous semi-hollowbody sound is voiced by a pair of real Alnico Classic Humbucker pickups. The black pearl finish and silver sparkle binding are complimented by a one-of-a-kind Epiphone pickguard.

Classic 335 Sound
The Dot Black Royale features two Alnico Classic humbuckers in the neck and bridge position. Alnico Classics have all the key ingredients found in Seth Lover's original PAF humbucker pickups from the late '50s and give players an infinite variety of tones from rock to jazz to country. Each pickup's volume and tone controls feature full 1 500K Ohm potentiometers for a lifetime of rocking.

Quality Epiphone Hardware
The Dot Black Royale includes Epiphone' exclusive LockTone locking Tune-o-matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece which yields even more sustain. And the Royale Dot also features nickel hardware including premium 16:1 ratio Grover machine heads for superior tuning stability and accuracy.

Dot Black Royale

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Dot Black Royale Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar Oct. 23, 2012 and interestingly it took several days for it to begin to come to life. After a week and every day since, it's getting better and better in its resonance. The overall quality of the build is close to excellent; as there is a tiny paint run on the inside of just the f hole. The chrome hardware is spot on, the tuners are strong, the rosewood fingerboard is great, but probably needs some oiling. The alnico pickups have a great sound and the tone controls are very sensitive to a tube amp. The stop piece, bridge and nut are well done. When playing it acoustically you can feel the vibration. The Dot BR covers the spectrum from super clean to distortion and anything in between wonderfully. One small flaw, the guitar input fell into the body of the guitar. Spencer (Dallas store) did a great job in a few seconds taking care of that and Ron spun his magic in fine tuning the action and intonation for me as it came from the factory a little sharp at the 12th. Ron has the golden touch. The finish is just about flawless and the tone is so very close to a 335. Before purchasing the Dot BR I did do an A/B with a 335. Yes the 335 was a bit sweeter, had more sustain and played a bit better; but not $3200.00 better. Later when playing a delay with a loop function and listening back, I was very impressed at how close the Dot sounds to a 335. Overall a great guitar for anyone from beginner to road warrior. I worked with Neil at the Lewisville GC and he made me a smoking deal. He was very professional and very helpful and added some very king personal touches. I highly recommend Neil & Ron. I'm still learning how to dial in the tone through both the amp and the guitar. So far I am very pleased, very happy with it and can't wait to pick it up every day. Overall I rate it an A- or an 9.91.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Dot Black Royale Electric Guitar:

My search for the perfect semi-hollow body ended here. I purchased mine from my local Guitar Center, as usual, quite by accident. I'd only been THINKING about picking,up an ES-Styled guitar, then I saw the Dot Black Pearl Royale, just in that day. It was so gorgeous,I had to just TRY it, but it's nearly impossible to put down! The fit and finish are excellent, the feel and playability are stellar, and the tones are incredible- not "for the money",or "a value instrument", but straight up, stand-on-it's-own good. I'm no beginner, I own over a dozen guitars of all vintages, brands and price ranges, and I'd grab this one for anything I'd need to play without hesitation. Very solid, sturdy construction, nothing is loose,or rattle-y, great fun to play as well. That means I'm practicing longer, and enjoying I more. This is the first and, only Epiphone I've ever owned, so I can't compare it to anything else in their line-up, but as I stated before, this is one killer axe, terrifically voiced, and with an extremely wide range,of tones from buttery sparkle cleans, to throaty growl, to all out, full raging rock jams that thrill the listener. If you're in the market for a semi, or need a strong all-rounder, make this you're first stop and save yourself a lot of time and money, and bring the Dot Royale home TODAY!
