Overview

The Les Paul Standard is one of the most famous and sought-after electric guitars in the world. And now, Epiphone has added a twist to this classic rocker by including a gorgeous flame maple top with dual "f" holes, and a partially hollowed-out body that gives the legendary Les Paul a fresh upscale look with a lighter, more resonant body. It's the perfect combination of Les Paul sound and Epiphone style. Plus, the LP Standard Florentine PRO features Epiphone acclaimed ProBucker humbucker pickups, both with coil-tapping for a "standard" in looks and performance.

AAA Flame Maple Top and Classic
The Epiphone Ltd Ed Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features a mahogany body that is carved out with two traditional f-holes for a new look that combines the Les Paul profile with Epiphone's legendary archtops. The Les Paul Florentine PRO features a beautiful AAA flame maple veneer top that delivers the classic LP tone and sustain but with the hint of a semi-hollowbody guitar like a 335 or Sheraton. The body also features single-ply cream binding on the top for a beautiful vintage look.

Like all Epiphone Les Pauls-and unlike less costly designs-the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features a 14-degree angled headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut for longer sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by "string-tree" gadgets. The mahogany neck has a standard 24.75" scale with a 12" radius and features a 1960s SlimTaper "D" profile with a glued-in neck joint for lifelong stability. The "D" profile neck is easy to hold for hours of playing time. The smooth rosewood fingerboard comes with pearloid trapezoid inlays, 22 medium-jumbo frets, a 1.68" nut, and 1-ply cream binding.

Epiphone ProBucker Humbuckers with Coil-Tapping
The Ltd Ed Les Paul Florentine PRO now features ProBucker pickups for that one-of-a kind Les Paul sound. ProBucker pickups feature Alnico II magnets, the same magnets used in sought-after vintage PAF humbuckers. Alnico II magnets provide a rich, warm tone with a sparkling high end and a solid low end. And, like PAF-era humbuckers, Epiphone ProBucker pickups are incredibly responsive with a range of tones.

The Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features a ProBucker-2 in the neck position and a ProBucker-3 in the bridge position. The ProBucker-3 is slightly overwound to provide balance with the neck pickup and a bit of edge for lead work. ProBuckers emulate the sound of original PAF pickups which were hand-wound with a few extra turns of wire. Both the neck and bridge pickups also feature coil-tapping which is easily activated by a push/pull volume control. Coil tapping allows players an infinite variety of pickups sounds from single-coil bark to full humbucker bite.

Epiphone ProBucker Power
Epiphone pickups are critically acclaimed for their vintage-perfect sound and superior workmanship. When winding its humbuckers, Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures quiet operation, free from microphonic hum. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is placed on the unit to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax. Epiphone uses only the highest-quality parts for its pickups, such as ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, Alnico magnets and the finest magnet wire available. A guitar with Epiphone ProBucker pickups is a guitar you can truly play for life.

Guaranteed PRO Hardware
Epiphone's Ltd Ed Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features Epiphone's legendary rock-solid hardware including a LockTone Tune-o-matic fully adjustable bridge and a Stopbar tailpiece. And now, Epiphone's updated design auto locks the bridge and tailpiece in place with no tools needed for improved sustain. The Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO uses 1" diameter potentiometers for better "throw," longer life and reliable service. Epiphone's all-metal toggle switches use rugged spring-steel contacts to ensure years of reliable service and performance. And Epiphone's proprietary output jack features an improved contact shape and a heavy-duty spring steel to increase reliability. Tuning is easy fast, and intuitive with Epiphone new "Deluxe" machine heads with an 18:1 ratio to ensure tuning stability and long life.

Like every Epiphone, the new Ltd Ed Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features Epiphone's Limited Lifetime Warranty backed by world famous 24/7/365 Gibson Customer Service.

Great Guitar

By MARTIN

from Winston Salem, NC

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I purchased a Honey Burst model. Looks amazing! Sound is beautiful, set-up is good. Strings were a little dirty. Changed them a day after I got it, If you are looking for a light weight Les Paul style guitar with great tone, this is the one. Ordered from store, delivered in 2 days. Opened at store to inspect. Looked perfect. I am a older guy who is getting back to playing again. Found the solid body Les Paul just to heavy to play for a long amount of time.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

When deciding which type of guitar I was most interested in, I was torn 50/50 between the LP Traditional PRO and the ES-339 PRO semi-hollow body. I've been playing a lot of Jazz and Blues lately, but also want the versatility to play some heavy rock and alternative. I originally purchased the LP Traditional PRO in Red Wine (beautiful instrument), but just didn't feel like it could create the Blues and Jazz tones that I was after.
My local Guitar Center didn't have the LP Std Florentine PRO in stock, so I didn't even know that it was an option. What peaked my curiosity was seeing a Gibson LP Semi-Hollow Body for 5x the price. I found the LP Std Florentine Pro Online, and after dealing with a pretty poor sales staff eventually got it ordered in.
Best decision I've made. If you're looking for a guitar with a little bit more twang and body to give you a Blues and Jazz sound, with the ability to perform like an LP with over-drive, and heavy distortion, this is a fantastic choice.
I don't consider myself enough of an expert to tell you how similar or different it is from the Gibson LP Semi-Hollow Body, but when I did try the Gibson at Guitar Center and then received my Epiphone, I believe the feel of the wood, pickups, sustain and action were near identical and could only be noticed by a professional musician in a studio recording environment who probably ONLY buys Gibson and likely hates on Epiphone on a regular basis.
Personally, I'm quite impressed with this guitar all around, and find that I have a hard time putting it down. Not only is it really fun to play, but it feels about 8 pounds lighter.

My new Favorite Les Paul!

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I recently bought a gorgeous Wine Red LP Florentine Pro from Guitar Center. This Les Paul is a real beauty and delivers amazing sounds, tones and harmonics as a result of its semi-hollow body design. The results are beyond what I can get from my Ebony and Alpine White Custom Pro Les Pauls & Heritage Cherry Sunburst Standard PlusTop Pro LP! The LP Florentine Pro is substantially lighter than any other Les Paul. It is a blast to play, even unplugged! The Fit and Finish are exceptional. The Wine Red Flame Maple Top is spectacular and very distinct from my other LPs! I selected from amongst three identical units and went with the one that had the most appealing flame maple top. It looks much better than any images online! The guitar I chose (of the three), was able to be set for perfect intonation!* This has become my new favorite Les Paul! This is an outstanding guitar! The S/N of all three were "140423xxxxx" signifying that they were manufactured in April 2014 in Epiphone's Indonesian factory ("23"). The LP Florentine Pro has Epiphone's ProBucker Humbucker Pickups with Coil Tapping identical to those in my other Epi LPs. The Vol and Tone pots are smooth and linear. The Florentine Pro comes with the Pickguard, Mounting Bracket, and Screws uninstalled. Holes would need to be drilled should you wish to install the Pickguard. I chose not to do so to enjoy the guitar's appearance and sound without the Pickguard. The absence of the pickguard does not affect my playing, nor have I scratched the guitar. YMMV. The Florentine Pro does not have the Phase Reversal feature of the Epi Custom Pro LP models. This outstanding Les Paul Florentine Pro is every bit as good as the Chinese Factory ("15") Les Pauls. Highly Recommended! *One of the three identical Florentines I tried was incapable of being adjusted for correct Intonation.

Versatility, warmth, and great build quality

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar is absolutely fantastic. I'm currently trying to sell my Custom Pro LP (which I still love) because I just can't envision a situation where I would use it over this thing. I got the Faded Cherry Sunburst and it is drop-dead gorgeous. It's darker than the picture shows; both the orangeish-red on the outside and the yellow in the middle. Mine came with the pickguard, but not installed, and I don't think I will. The finish looks way too good to hide. The playability is phenomenal; Epi has really stepped up their quality game. The pickups sound great, and the coil-tapping is a great feature, as long as you expect and compensate for the drop in output. All 7 tones are usable and solid. She handles OD really, really well, but easy on the distortion. A little bit gives you a nice, creamy drive, though. This guitar is great and versatile, and I highly recommend it. If you are looking for a warmer, creamier LP, your search is over.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar in every way except set up.it plays great has a sound of a much more expensive guitar. I feel when you buy a guitar it should come set up I may be wrong but just seems to me when you buy a guitar you want to take it home and play not pay for it then wait a few weeks for a set up and put out that much more money. I don't make a living playing and not a good player yet but I know what a guitar sounds like and this one sounds great if it was just set up from the plant. I wonder if a Gibson will be any better. I would like to add to this after I have more time to check it out. I hope this helps but I know I didn't really do it justice. this is a great looking guitar. I have yet to see or play a Gibson supreme but that is one I want to check out.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Like Martin from NC, I'm an older guy and have been playing for quit a few years. I've been a Fender guy most of my life, owning a Strat & a Tele. My Tele has always been my "go to" guitar & I'll never say a bad thing about it. I wanted to round out my choices and get something with humbuckers, but these old shoulders can't take the weight of a LP any more. I originally bought a Hagstrom Viking Deluxe, but didn't like the way it took a nose dive when I strapped it on. The tone pots weren't really to my satisfaction either. I walked into GC one day and saw the Epiphone Florentine on the wall. I wish I saw this guitar before I bought the Viking. Both are beautiful & well crafted, but the Epi has it all over the Hagstrom. It's lighter than the Viking & stays put when you strap it, it's very well balanced, someone at Epiphone thought about that. And I can play it for hours without any pain in my shoulder. The sound is magnificent & the tone pots actually work. I can dial in whatever sound I want between mixing up the coil taps or leaving the humbuckers on & mixing up the tone & volume pots. OK, so my Tele is still my "go to" guitar, but this one comes in a very close 2nd. Put it up against any Les Paul & the LP owner is going to be disappointed.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I lightly sanded the neck to removing factory finish. I started w/200 and progressively worked up to 0000 wet/dry. I continued with ultra fine, then cleaned the neck and rubbed repeatedly with polymer/wax until shiney luster.

Now, it's ultra smooth & ultra fast!

To be fair I go through this procedure w/every 'new' or lightly played guitar I own. But the neck on this very nice guitar felt 'tacky' to the point where it felt like it was slowing the left hand movements. Otherwise, this is a fabulous playing/sounding guitar - 2 thumbs up.

I also own a 2014 Gibson Les Paul Classic (seafoam green) which I really like (10 - guitars). I have to say in the short time I've had the Epi L/P Florentine that I like it every bit as much as my Classic. They have different p/u, and sound different, but none the less I have to say both are absolute 'Keepers.' Plus the Florentine is a couple of pounds lighter!
