I've had my Epiphone Les Paul Special II for about 8 weeks now, and man its nice. The pics don't even come close to show you nice this guitar is. I have the Heritage Cherry Sunburst, The pick ups are not all that, but i added some emg's and man the sound is great!! With a little work on the neck (The strings buzz sometimes) and pick ups( I use zakk wylde emg set, with an Marshall mg30dfx amp and MXR ZW-44 Wylde Overdrive Pedal). You can't find a better guitar for the money, this is by far the best starter out there in my book.

The Epiphone les paul special 2 is a average guitar for a low price there are some problems with it staying in tune and after the first couple of months you will see that the toggle switch will begin to stop working but there are some good things i have to say. First of all it looks simular to the gibson les paul and is only about 160$. If you are a experienced guitar player this is a decent back up and is also but a good starter guitar but i would recomend the epiphone les paul jr.

Durable and Great Sound

By Anthony

from Irvine, CA

My first guitar and I've had it now for a little over 10 years. It's taken a real beating but still manages to sound very good. Great beginner guitar and does produce a great sound.

Great value 4.5 stars

By Mark

from San Diego

Picked this up on Sale at GC. Got an extra 10% off so was happy with price. Nowadays, even "cheap" guitars are decent. Was very surprised and the quality, fit and finish, electronics, the volume, tone and toggle switch have a feeling of quality. this will be my everyday guitar until I can shell out $2500 for the Gibson{ and I get better} Get this guitar and you won't be disappointed.

Very Nice guitar

By Mark Aldridge

from Raleigh North Carolina

I bought a couple of the newest version of these, and they are better than ever. The improvement to the tightness of the bridge works well. The guitars sound great and play well. It is hard to even think of an improvement. I prefer these over any I have played (owned about 140 guitars over 50 yrs playing). They are light to medium weight, have a beautiful ringing tone, and a nicely finished fretboard. Congratulations to the management at Epiphone. Please don't change this item -- if you want to provide options, at least keep this one and add another product. If you are a player trying to decide among guitars, choose this one. Epiphone is making the best guitars at this time, in my opinion.

Great Entry Level Les Paul

By STEVE HENRY

from St. Louis, MO.

I have owned my Special II for about 2 months now and could not be happier. I bought it used b/c I wanted a Les Paul but can't afford a Plus Top or a Studio with the solid neck. Great Sustain and Excellent Sound for a bolt on neck, I play this Guitar almost exclusively. If you want a great beginners guitar at a outstanding price with that Les Paul feel and sound, this is the guitar for you.

poor man's Gibson

By d lee

from san diego, CA

This is just a good workhorse guitar that suits about any style of music. I bought it new "off the wall" and have done nothing but install a Bowen handle tremolo. It came set up and needed very little "tweaking" I have been playing for fifty years and owned everything with six strings on it at one time or another. This is an absolute "steal" at the price and gives you all the sound of a Les Paul without the price or the weight.

Great Little Guitar

By K Teel

from Northern California

If you need to impress your friends with a prestige brand guitar (and the accompanying credit card bill), then don't buy this guitar. However, if you prefer to let your fingers do the talking, this little guitar maybe one of the best values you can get. The workmanship on these guitars is very good. Epiphone seems to have good quality control. The neck is screwed on (that's right wood screws, not bolts. Bolts are for bridges and traffic signals), the tuners inexpensive, and the pickups are humble ceramic type. Dispite it's modest features, this guitar gets the job done. I've used this guitar in many restaurants, wineries, private events, etc. At some point I decided to put some economy alnico type pickups in it. I gig with this guitar regularly, and constantly get compliments on the sound. The style that I play is jazz, so you distortion addicts my have a different take on this guitar, but for me, this is my little gigmeister.

Fantastic Guitar! Highly Recommend!

By BRAD MCCORD

from Frankton, IN

I have not had a set up done on this guitar. Everything about it is perfect. It is exactly what I needed, but I am unsure about it being a guitar for the stage. No complaints. One minor issue with it is that the low E and A string "Buzz", but I think a neck adjustment will fix it. Great Guitar! Looks Great! Neck Feels Great! Sounds incredible! Highly Recommend!
