I bought a yellow one a year ago. I was interested in a lightweight shorter scale guitar as I mostly play Fenders, and also something I could work on and not worry about ruining. Out of the box it was OK, but it soon needed adjustments. The set bridge wasn't able to hold the tuning up to what my ears are used to, so I replaced it with a tunomatic bridge - this required plugging the holes of the old bridge with dowels and drilling new holes. While I was at it, I put on a surface mounted tremolo - both of these parts I got from a well-known internet discount supplier. So it worked OK for a while and then the tuners started slipping, so I replaced them with a set from the same place. Next, I found I was scratching the surface with my pick strumming so I bought a cheap black pickguard and cut it to fit. Then I repositioned the pickup switch, which my right hand was knocking off and on, so that it moves horizontally. Now the yellow guitar was working pretty good, but about 6 months later it got sloppy again and I had to adjust the truss rod and redo the intonation. But I couldn't get it exactly right so I took it to Shawn the guitar pro and he set it right! This guitar is very light, stays in perfect tune, looks great and the P90 pickups give it a unique sound compared to my other guitars. I do most of my practicing with it and have brought it on a few gigs. For just over double my initial investment I got some experience and a worthy instrument.

I bought this guitar to try out P90 pickups. I use this guitar to practice and as a back up guitar. The guitar sounds great. The finish is good and the electronics are solid. The only issue I had was the fingerboard has a layer of wax on it, cause my fingers to stick. The frets were also rough. I solved this by cleaning up the fingerboard and polishing the frets and I've never that the problem again. This guitar cannot hold its tuning so I ended up changing the tuners and nut. Through this guitar I feel in love with the P90 tone and I will eventually guy a higher end guitar with P90s.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special I P90 Electric Guitar:

Bought my first one 15 years ago. Wasn't afraid to make changes, learn how to make adjustments and learn proper set up techniques. Did things I'd never do to an expensive guitar. One became a test mule, another becomes an alternate tuner, another becomes my "go to" guitar. Why? Because they're inexpensive, uncomplicated, good sounding, lightweight and fun little guitars. Just like their original Gibson cousins. They're a blast!

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special I P90 Electric Guitar:

I bought this for a friend who's a beginner on guitar, but now I want one too. I've been playin for years, owned numerous Gibson, Fender, and PRS... and this is a great little guitar, for not much money. Out of the box it played well, but 1 star off for using bad strings, they felt sticky? Took it to my guitar tech for new strings and a setup. Sounds killer! No fret buzz or dead spots. A little hum at higher gain settings but hey it's got P90s, which I love. Good for the basic rock to blues thing, probably not for metal. Get one.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special I P90 Electric Guitar:

At the moment I use the guitar at home because the tuners don't let it stay in tune as well as I'd like.
          The guitar is neck heavy.
Those are the two main gripes. That said,it was set up good, plays great.
The pickups sound fine. P90's are favorites of mine.
I'll probably change the tuners but otherwise it's fine.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special I P90 Electric Guitar:

One of my favorite guitars! Do not believe the knocks on the pickups! Sound just like a good set of ALNICO P-90's should! Understand these are not hot humbuckers or Fender strat single coils. They are great for blues and rock.Through my Mustang III amp, they handle distortion and cleans very well. Maybe not the sound you want for hairspray metal, but who cares? I ended up really liking the bridge, because it really facilitates palming the strings for staccato. Sure, it needs a set-up, but this thing has a great neck and fat fret wire. I dressed the end of the frets on mine, but some of the others I have picked up are fine. My tuners work okay but I am going to replace with the jade Gibson type.I found the body a little light, so I added some stainless appointments. These go on sale for an insane price, but the full price is more than worth the cost.
