Tuning

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Pee Wee Zakk Pakk Electric Guitar/Amp Value Pack:

You have to remember these are short scale guitars, So you have to use G to G tuning to maintain proper tension on the strings. So if you want to jam with the kid or person you bought it for get a capo and put it on the 3rd fret of your regular size guitar, Now have fun and rock out

Decent for the little ones.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Pee Wee Zakk Pakk Electric Guitar/Amp Value Pack:

This little Epi turned out better than I expected. Even after reading the reviews, I pulled the trigger and got one for my 6 year old daughter anyway. It is the smallest electric I could find, and she has really small hands. I will admit it took some finessing to get it to tune properly and hold tune. After about 30 minutes of fiddling with it, adjusting the nut, and beating up the strings to break them in, it started to hold tune long enough to finish a song or two. After a few hours, it got much better, and has held tune decently for over 4 hours of playing now. As for sound, the little "Marshall" amp it comes with is barely good enough to practice on, but plugged into my 15W Behringer practice amp, this little axe shines. I almost didn't want to hand it over to my daughter, it was so much fun to play a less than 3/4 scale guitar. It would have been nice to add a tone knob, but I wasn't surprised to see a kids starter guitar didn't have one. Overall, I give the guitar 4/5 once you break it in and get it to hold tune. Perfect for kids with small frames and hands. Good enough sound, decent looks, and quick playing. I give the amp a 2/5, just doesn't sound good, even for a battery powered practice amp. The clean is too dirty, and the Gain-powered overdrive is just nasty. It's good for a kid, but you'd never catch me plugging my guitars into it.

Too fun!

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Pee Wee Zakk Pakk Electric Guitar/Amp Value Pack:

It's a little cheap import that is great for the little guy to get started on. If you want to tune to 440A, you'll need to use 12's...or just tune up one whole step. You need to cut the nut slots for the heavier strings or you will never stay in tune. The tech shouldn't charge you much to do this. Other than that, it's easy to play and fits the little guy like a glove. My son is inspired by this little guitar and that is what matters. Next year he inherits one of my full size Gibsons if he sticks with it. Great place to start.
