Overview

Epiphone has been building quality guitars since 1910 and has based this beauty on one of the most famous guitar designs of all time ” the Gibson Les Paul. This guitar, authorized by Gibson, has been painstakingly built 100% to their specs. The mahogany neck, mahogany and alder body, and chrome hardware contribute to the incredibly sweet, signature Les Paul tone. It features a 24-3/4"-scale set neck, 2 open-coil humbucker pickups with a volume and tone control for each, and a 1.68" nut. The fast action, nice sustain, and awesome tone make this highly playable guitar great for any type of music from punk to bluegrass. What really makes this guitar stand out however, is the flawless finish and arched, quilted maple carved top. The rosewood fretboard, with trapezoid inlays and body and neck binding, tops off this charmer. No other guitar sounds like the famous Les Paul.

i tried this out at guitar center looking for somehting to get for my birthday, yesterday i tried this out, and i wasn't very happy with the tone i got, the vintage mahogany gibson les paul sounds much better, and the tone knob on the one at GC wasn't put on right. If you can't afford the $800 gibson vintage mahogany, then get the epi les paul jr., the tone is much better than this and ive had it for a long time and is much better and 1/4 the price. overall, dont buy it, the tone is bad compared to some others ive tried.

Great Guitar, but pics are decieving.

By Milrtym75

I purchased this guitar and I love it. I have not played for a real long time, but I have played other people's electrics. The sound is great, and it is easily played for even beginners than most other guitars. The only beef I have is the finish, mine is Wine Red, is much, much darker than the pics on-line. It is nice looking, but you can't really see the quilting pattern. Other than that a great guitar.

Epiphone Les Paul classic quilted top

This is a great guitar with few shortcomings. This guitar feels solid, sounds great and is well worth the money. Pickups are good for the price and the sustain is amazing.

Best Buy Ever

By Chad Hill

from Webster City

Best choice ever made, I have played BC Rich, Ibanez, and Schecter, But the Epiphone Les Paul is by far the most versitle. The sound and playability is worth ten times the price. A good set of EMGs' though makes the guitar a real blessing.

Epiphone Classic Quilt Top

By CSourp

from Glendale Arizona

Well folks, I wish I could say something good cuz I spent good money on the Epiphone. The fret board isn't very smooth and the actual frets are substandard. The tone pots are lousy and make alot of scratch noise when adjusting in overdrive. So I just forked over more good money for a real Les Paul. What a difference. I will sell the Epiphone and stick with good ol USA quality. You do get what you pay for. Sorry this couldn't be a positive review.

Nice Guitar

By Guitar4me14

This beautiful baby makes the women weep. Its a great sounding guitars with only a few short coming. The tone isn't incredible but i think its because of the strings try replacing them with Gibson strings. The sustain is amazing. You'll enjoy it.

killer paul

By epilpman

from dallas, texas

i bought one of the amber transparent models at the memorial day sale. i would put this guitar up against any non-custom shop gibson. my guitar set-up man was totally impressed with it. the finish is awesome and the sound is thick and warm. it played like a dream out of the box, but plays like melted butter after a professional set-up. i have another epi lp that i traded out the stock bridge pick-up for a seymor duncan screamin demon. but this quilt top sounds just great with the stock pick-ups, just what you want--thick, warm and lots of sustain. bottom line----get one before they are gone.

Proud to say Epi.

By The Old Man Down the Street

I Have a Gibson SG. Wouln't trade it for anything. Didn't really shop around for a Les Paul for awhile. Decided to go for the Epii after I had read mostly great reviews and got my hands on one in the local Guitar Center. Gorgeous finish, great workmanship. I had played a Gibson Les Paul in the same store about two years before. Sounded great, but then the crew at this particular store always make sure all of their guitars are set up right before putting it out for display and I've never tried any that needed any major adjustments. The pickguard wasn't mounted but I don't have the heart to put screws in such a beautiful instrument. I got the transparent red. I was actually looking for transparent blue but someone had got that one a couple of days before and I just couldn't put this beauty back on the wall. Especially for the price. Loud or soft, mellow or screamin' - this baby can go toe to toe with my Gibson SG or a Gibson LP.

excellent bargain

By Adam

from Denver

I recently purchased the classic quilt top LP and have to say its very close to a top of the line LP.The LP I bought had grover tuners and after a little adjustment and some heavy gauge strings it plays like a dream and I've worked in custom gutar shops where we used to build very expensive custom gutars.I believe this guitar is a great deal if you dont have two thousand dollars to spend on a Gibson. Most of the classic Gibsons I have come across have mahogany backs and maple tops so this guitar is not very different from the classic Gibson LP.Just change out the standard pickups.put in some screamers and plug in!
