This is an amazing guitar. Very well built, very nice detailing on the headstock and body of the guitar. This thing is solid as a rock, and unfortunately just as heavy. That is my only complaint: This thing is heavy, so heavy in fact that I actually broke a set of strap-locks a few months ago. When I first picked it up in the store I thought for sure this thing must've been tied down or something. Anyway, this guitar is great for jazz playing, rock, grunge, metal, blues....anything. The third/middle pickup makes it much more versitile than your average Les Paul, and it sounds very much like a strat. I can literally play anything with this guitar, Hendrix to Clapton to SRV, to Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam - and everything in between. Out of all my guitars, this gets played the most - by far! Sounds great through Fenders or Marshalls, etc., whichever you prefer. Great for gigging, but not recommended unless you happen to have a VERY comfortable strap (once again, just because of the weight). This guitar is well worth the money. A few weeks ago I go wandering into the local guitar shop, and I see the Epiphone Zakk Wylde Bullseye Les Paul model, so I figure I'd try it out. Now get this, the Zakk Wylde model is $100 more than the Black Beauty, and the Black Beauty blows it out of the water. Black Beauty has a much warmer tone and it actually feels like a guitar in your hands. Save yourself $100 and get this, you will NOT regret it. This is, in my opinion, the best Epiphone you can get that's under $1000. GET IT!

I owned this guitar less time than any other. When it arrived, I was excited. It was beautiful, to look at. Plugged it in, played a little, wow... this sounds great. End of positive comments. The third, or middle pickup in my opinion is this guitar's weak spot. It is in the way. No matter how long I played it, or in any comfortable "picking hand" position, it felt like trying to put the left shoe on the right foot...very awkward. Also, even after taking it to two well respected luthiers, I could not get the strings close enough to the fingerboard - so much so that playing anything in the middle of the neck made it go sharp. The glossy finish on the back of the neck , while nice to look at was kind of tacky, or sticky. Also- it weighs a TON. I really wanted to like this guitar, as it was beautiful. I guess if I just wanted something pretty to hang on the wall, this would be it, but it played like a toy

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

This is one of the best electrics I've ever played. I've had this guitar for almost 3 years and it's never let me down. Also, I love the sound that I get when I have the toggle switch in the middle position. It sounds really strat-like. If you're in the market for an affordable les paul, this is a great choice because of the extended tonal range of the 3 pickups.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

I used to play many shows with this guitar back in the day when I played rock, but later the Epiphone pickups got very muddy and it sounded like if you put a sheet of metal in front of your amp, so I am waiting to get my pickups replaced for some other ones. Also the neck pickup would work sometimes, and also sometimes would not. It is a good guitar but electronics could be better.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar. I've played and owned strats, tele's, SG's, Gibson LPs, other epi LPs but keep coming back to this one. WEIGHT: Yes its heavy...but with that solid mahogany capped maple body is solid tone-which to me, is worth the weight. I invested in a nice, soft/WIDE leather strap-problem is solved-doesn't feel heavy. TONE: I swapped out the pickups for GIBSON BURSTBUCKER PRO's. This guitar now 'sings'.
Middle Pickup: Some comments indicate the 'aggravation' of trying to pick/strum with that middle pick up. Agreed there is a learning curve here as it is different than a 2 pickup LP. I simply used the set screws to lower the middle pickup slightly and for me, that solved the problem. I still get tons of tone combinations with 3 pickups and the 'space' I need to strum or pick my heart out without interference from that mid pu.
ACTION: String action set up a bit high from factory but I lowered it...perfect now...very low action...no buzz...plays like butter. :o)

            Great guitar

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

I have a Epi 60's tribute that is awesome. I bought this guitar because I wanted something with vibrato/tremolo (plan to add a Bigsby). I tried a Fender Strat, PRS and a Gretsch. All nice but nothing had the LP tone/sound and feel. Realized that what I really wanted was an LP with a vibrato. Anyway, ended up getting this. At first, wasn't sure about the "tuxedo" look. Once I laid eyes and hands on it that changed. It is a beautiful guitar. Fit, finish, asthetics are superb. Feels exactly like my 60's trib. I was also worried about the pickups. The 60's trib has Gibson USA 57's. This has Epi Alnico classics. The Epi website states that these are modeled after the Gibson 57's. When I plug it in my amp, can't tell the difference. Sounds great. I am very happy with this. Also had great service. I bought it through my local GC store. They did not have it in stock but it shipped from the warehouse and arrived in perfect condition.

This is a great guitar. I've had it for about a year now and it still sounds brand new. It has a nice dark sound that is great for Blues and Classic Rock. If your looking for a guitar, I highly recommend this guitar.

This guitar is worth the money. Everything is great except that even though the third pick up looks really cool you have to get used to picking in certain areas so you don't hit the pick ups. You should also get new strings, the one's thatr come with it wear out very quickly.
