I've played guitar for several decades, but this is my first uke. Sure, a "real" ukulele would be more traditional. But this one just looks great. I got the Vintage Sunburst, and the flame maple top is gorgeous. The finish is excellent for a $100 instrument. Acoustically, it's not as loud as a regular uke, but it still sounds good. Better strings would probably help. The tuners are solid, and it stays in tune well. Plug it in, and the sound jumps out. Whether through a PA or acoustic amp, the sound is very good.

I at first bought the Les Paul ukulele with the initial thought that Epiphone will do me proud and keep the Les Paul quality over instruments. Though it was easy on the eyes, looking spot on like a Les Paul, I was, however, severely disappointed once I had it. First off, the black nylon strings that come out of box are poor in quality, so I switched them out for some Kaluha Gold. It improved the sound quality and matched the look of the uke. Second, even with new strings, the uke sounded bad plugged in or acoustic. The two layers of wood dulled the sound heavily and gave the uke a wieght of almost three pounds. Unless you're looking for the novelty of it being a Les Paul, I reccomend getting a Luna Tattoo electric-acoustic for the same amount. The Les Paul, is really only good for showing off.

great lil uke!

By amber politowicz

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

I recently purchased this ukulele online from guitar center, it got mixed reviews, but I think its great. do yourself a favor and get new strings asap, I recommend d'addario nylatech, d'addario pro arte, or aquilas. changing the strings made huge difference in the sound of this uke.The finish on this thing is beautiful, there were one or two small flaws but nothing too major or of serious concern. Its a decently made beautiful acoustic/electric ukulele at a great price...and it has strap buttons which is a plus if your prone to drop things.package doesn't include cabel or amplifier but was still a good deal.

Great Ukulele

By Chase Ross

from Concord, CA

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

This ukulele sounds and look absolutely beautiful. Usually electric ukes are well over $100, but this one is just such a great deal and is so worth it. The best part is the warranty. If you have any problem whatsoever they will give you a new one or fix it. Lastly, I am really impressed with the quality of the construction and the sound. For an Epiphone instrument, it is outstanding.

Fun Fun Fun

By Shelley Hinatsu

from the Dalles OR

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

Had this little Les Paul a little over a week. Couldn't wait till the UPS man delivered. Excellent support. I'm a novice but having fun with it. Also bought the Line 6 spider 1V 15 watt amp, my son got one too. This is a quality instrument and people are really impressed because its a Les Paul. I did change the strings because everyone suggested it and they were right because the black ones that came with it sounded "tinny".

It's Habit-forming!

By Doug Lewandowski

from Sylvania, OH

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

Wow! I'm addicted! This is my first ukulele and I can't stop playing it! The action is decent and the classic Les Paul style is one-of-a-kind for ukuleles. The included soft case was a nice surprise as most ukuleles do not include them. I think this is one of the best values for the quality. Way to go, Epiphone!

Beautiful Ukulele

By John Jordan

from Charleston, WV

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

I am retired and thought that I would like to learn to play the ukulele. After much study, I decided to purchase the Epiphone Les Paul Ukulele. The instrument is beautiful with excellent workmanship. It is a pleasure to look at. As a beginner, the sound is great. I have not yet tried an amp, but I am sure that the sound would elevate. I am well pleased with my purchase and highly recommend this product and Guitar Center.

About Me Novice

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

I have had mine for a year now. It is my first ukelele and I enjoy it as much now as when I first got it. It had to be retuned every session until the strings settled; I was going to replace them having read some other reviews, but just haven't got around to it yet.
It has survived being taken across the Atlantic and out to Asia without damage and I have had no problems with it. Mostly I play it unplugged and that is fine at home, but it also sounds great plugged into my Vox guitar amp.
I'm very happy that I bought this model.

rock buzz'n roll

By Richard Tresenrider

from Columbus Ohio

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

I have purchased three of them the first was great. But the second had a very bad buzz from the saddle. After a close inspection I found a hunk of foam rubber in the body under the pick up. Took it back for a replacement got the floor model looked great but still has a very small buzz from saddle. I would not recommend this ukulele for playing great wall hanger. Guitar Center customer service is great!

My Buddie

By Allen Desart

from Tacoma, Washington

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

I recently purchased my Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Ukulele on-line from Guitar Center and I haven't let a day go bye with playing it. It feels like a much bigger and sturdier instrument than it really is and sounds great either with or without the Acoustic Lead 20W Amp I bought at the local Guitar Center to complement my Uke. I really like the tuners! After the initial tuning I only have to make slight adjustments every couple of days to stay in tune. I use the online tuner at Get-Tuned.com to keep it on pitch when necessary. All my friends rave about the looks and I feel are secretly wishing one for themselves. I say go for it! The price was right!

Awesome Uke-beautiful!

By Sarah Bodeen

from Carlsbad, CA

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

I loved this uke the moment it arrived. I have the cherry sunburst, and it is beautiful. When you play it acoustically, it is kinda quiet, so I have been strumming a little differently than you are supposed to to bring out more sound... But it is a great uke overall! Its a great price especially if you are just starting out!

Bought this because I needed an electric ukulele and this was the cheapest one by far. I don't regret the purchase at all. Unless your going to drop big money on a uke, this one is the best bang for your buck.

    Les Paul Uke

    By Michael Denneau

    from Green Bay, WI

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

I was very impressed with the quality of the instrument. Being an electric acoustic, the sound without the aid of an amp is very good and loud. Great deal for the price and would recommend it on it's coolness alone.

    Outstanding for what it is!

    By Britt Boyette

    from Keizer, OR

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

I bought this one after not finding another Uke which was sold out. I really liked the way it looked and felt plus one could plug it into an amp. It has two things which I don't care for, the weight and the strings. One I can live with and the other I will be changing. The weight issue it because it's carved from a solid chunk of wood so that makes it very average on non-plugged in sound. I have a Fender Mini amp and it sounds great out of that plus the amp has a built in tuner. The positive thing to consider about the construction is that it can take a lot of abuse and therefore a better choice for travel. But the real ace in the hole is the price, I've paid more for much less and overall i would do it again. I wish they had more color choises though!

Exceeded Expectations (Product & Customer Service)

    By Dale Lippert

    from Northlake, Tx

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele Outfit:

This is a great looking Uke. There was two reasons why I bought this Ukulele: 1- good sounding acoustically and when plugged into an amp. 2 - Sales Rep at Guitar Center in Lewisville Texas, Taylor Condrack. He was professional, knowledgable and having GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. Taylor also sent me a follow up email several days after the sale to ensure that I received my UKE (the uke was not in stock - had to be shipped) and if I had any questions....I sent Taylor a question and he did answer it in a timely manner. WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE.
