Last night, I went to visit GC with my dad, seeking the Hummingbird; seeing if it lived up to its expectations. When I held it in my lap, it fitted right in with my body. When I played it, it sounded so melodic, even with the original strings on it (though it would be better to change the strings to some D'Addarios). The bass was not too low or high, and the neck was easy to slide up on. The price is the best for this wonderful Epiphone. I'd suggest this guitar for anyone that can play. The color in the pictures is way too light. I fell in love with the sunburst, even though it usually isn't my color.

If you're going for a guitar with a more beautiful look then definitely get this guitar. The finish is pretty great, just like the original Gibson. However, if you want a guitar with a better quality and tone then look somewhere else. I went to my local GC and compared this to the Gibson HM and a Seagull Entourage. In my opinion, the Seagull Entourage blows all of them right out of the water! I guess every guitar is different for everyone but I found neither hummingbirds to be effective. The tone was very weak and less crisp compared to the Entourage. Quality really makes a difference. Epiphones are mass produced on the other side of the world while Seagulls are handmade in Canada and as soon as you play both you will hear the difference. For the price difference you get a guitar that will last longer, unlike this Epi hummingbird which will probably give you 3 years if you're lucky.

Comments about Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is a masterpiece in itself. If you think that this will be a waste of money you are wrong. I got this guitar years ago, and I promise you the tone of this guitar is amazing. All I get from other people is praise about how beautiful it is and how beautiful it sounds. All I reccommend is that you strap on some Martin SP string and put a PlanetWave Sound hole in this, and it will be perfect.

It's a good guitar, but not for very long.

Comments about Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar:

This a solid sounding guitar, and I loved it. It's finish is beautiful and I recieved nothing but compliments about it. Unfortunately it didn't last very long. I even had it set up and worked on it myself, but it just didn't hold up. I sold it to my friend after a year and a half. He give me hard time because you have to tune it just-right and the action is rather high. If you spend maybe a 100 dollars more, you get an amazing sounding guitar that will last.

Great guitar so far.

Comments about Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar:

I ordered the ebony w./chrome hardware version of Epiphone's Hummingbird guitar. My guitar was delivered to my local Guitar Center. I took my new guitar directly to a local shop and had new strings installed along with a set-up. I am new to playing guitar and wanted to have somebody check the condition/sound of the guitar while I still had time to return it. I have been playing my new ebony Hummingbird everyday the past 3 weeks for at least an hour. The sound is big & rich. I originally debated between the Epiphone EJ-200 & Hummingbird thinking the hummingbird would not be "load" enough. I prefer the smaller size of the Hummingbird and in my 400 s.f. living-room, the Hummingbird has no problem filling the room with sound. The black paint, chrome, wood and inlay work is kind of amazing given the price of this guitar. I am an architect, furniture/product designer/fabricator and find it hard to believe that Epiphone can build something so beautifully crafted and detailed for a price that I would describe as a real value. Now I just need a hard-case as awesome as the Hummingbird especially before the dry winter season arrives and humidity control becomes an issue.

Impresssive for the the money

By

Comments about Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar:

I bought the Heritage sunburst Hummingbird about a month ago and I have been thoroughly impressed. This is the third acoustic guitar I have owned and far and away the best. The only thing that I can say about it negative is that for beginners, it might be a little hard to chord. However that can be fixed with lighter gauge strings or lowering them. The sound is great and is good for rhythm strumming or finger picking. It has Grover tuning gears and it stays in tune very well. It is hard to believe that the more it's played and ages the better it will sound.

Comments about Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar:

Got this guitar last week. Also own a Taylor 210 payed 2 times as much for and more. This guitar beats the 210 hands down for easy of playing, sound, and did I mention this beauty is all wood. I opted for the ebony and it looks great. I could'nt be happier with my choice the sound beats my Taylor hands down enough said I love my Hummingbird!

Comments about Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar:

I thought about ordering the Ebony finish but just got the Heritage Cherry and I was very happy when it arrived. The finish is beautiful. All I had to do was tune it up and it was ready to go. It has a bright clean sound to it, a great acoustic guitar. Definately a good guitar for the price!

I love my Hummingbird!

By

from Seattle, Wa

Comments about Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar:

The guitar player in my first band had a Gibson Hummingbird and that was the first guitar I ever played around with. I didn't pick up playing guitar till years later but I always remembered playing on that old Hummingbird. I came across one at GuitarCenter and bought it right away for a really decent price. This guitar has great tone, but what is really great about it is the recognition it gets when I pull it out. I can't recall how many times I have heard, "Sweet! You have a Hummingbird".
