Great versatile guitar.

By guitslinger

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

I've owned this guitar for 2 years and it is really one versatile guitar and suited for just about any genre of music. It is quite neck heavy but that's the only downside as the pickups are extremely hot and yet the neck and mid pickups can give you a mellow jazzy tone.My daughter's boyfriend prefers it to his Gibson SG saying that the neck is more commfortable and the pickups are much hotter.I can't get over the warmth that can come from a guitar that has the ability to kick out such raunch especially through my JCM 800,I'd recommend this guitar to anyone.

Epi '61 Les Paul Custom

By Roger Morton

from St Petersburg, FL

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

This the 'new' model Les Paul that Gibson released in 1961. Les didn't like it because of the way the neck joined the body and asked to have his name removed. This is a copy of that instrument and bears his name and a plate Les Paul Custom just above the neck 'bucker. It makes me think of it as an SG all dressed up in a tuxedo LOL. I bought mine used at GC some time ago and have changed the pups/pots and wiring. The bottom two knobs are now the outside pups volume and tone control , ala Telecaster and the top most pair are the center pup volume and tone, this gives a great deal of tonal variety. This pups are a moderate at the neck 6.8 (K ohms) and middle 8.6 with 9.6 at the bridge, I skipped getting 4 wire pups and went with 2 wires to keep it a little simpler so there's no coil tapping them but that is an option.I think it is now one of my best guitars (over 20 w/5 Tele's a Gibson Les Paul and 3 other Epi's in there). Epiphone guitars rule for tone/build/price/value.

It's not for everyone.

By BoogieMan

from Rochester, NY

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

First off, it's a bit more beige than "ivory". Wasn't really impressed with the look of it at all. The neck is thicker than the body, it's very thick actually. I don't have small hands, but it was still a bit thick for my tastes. Doesn't feel as substantial as a Strat or Les Paul, or Tele. The pickups are pretty decent though. Sounded good through my tube amp, but the distortion is a little muddled and cold. Definitely try before you buy ۡ I didn't.

This guitar sounds GREAT! It sounds good if your playing metal, punk, blues, and everything else. I highly recomend this for new players and advanced players. I have the cream color and it still looks great. The pickups sound awesome with distortion. Bottom line buy the guitar.

Most uncomfortable guitar ever

By thisguitarsucks2345677

from York, PA

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

This is the most top heavy guitar ever made. If you let go of the neck it darts to the floor like it's magnetic to the floor. The strap locations are really akward. Don't buy just for the third pickup because it doesn't make it sound any better and it just gets in the way, you can't pick very deep at all. Despite all that stuff, it sounds ok, but not great, its no better than a guitar that you would pay 2 or 300 less for. When I bought this guitar I read all the negative reviews but bought anyway thinking nothing of it, but seriously, I do not recommend buying it.

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

This guitar is by far the best sounding guitar i have owned. i thought the price was just right for what you get. the distortion is awesome and the clean is great as well. The only thing is though is i wish it came in white. but if your into playing some good ol' punk rock this guitar is perfect for whoever. it is a bit top heavy but you get used to it. i payed about 400 for it. i would even pay 800 for it. great guitar all around. i think im gonna buy another one someday.

Great Value

By Utter Chaos

from Shakopee,MN

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

I just bought this gutar on 2/9/07. I paid only 386.00 for it at Guitar Center. Mine is the Ivory color and looks great. Great price and a great value. It has a nice warm tone when played clean and really sounds great through a blues driver. It is a little neck heavy and wants to drop forward but all in all it is a great value. I highly recomend this guitar.
