I got this guitar a few days ago, and it's great. Ultra light body. I mean, wow, it's so light it's crazy. The action is awesome too. Super low action. The hard-ware on the guitar looks great, and the inlays look awesome too. The worn black adds a nice touch to it too. Humbuckers are great. I was playing on my amp, clean, and it was still distorted. This Guitar isn't for anything but metal, and other heavy genre's in my opinion. Good volume, and great tone. And not to mention it has a killswitch. I had no clue about that until I bought it. Overall, this guitar is excellent for any novices, and any beginners. It can also take a beating. I've dropped it I don't know how many times, and not a single scratch or dent. I absolutely love this Guiar. And for the price.. it's a steal.

Pretty Cool

By Rock&RollApt

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

A great alternative to the Epiphone Les Paul/SG Specials because of the quality of this axe is the same. The Flying V style headstock combined with Explorer-like body is a neat eye catcher. Like a lovechild of 2 famous styled Gibsons. 2 added things you should know about this guitar: 1) The tail end is shorter than any other Explorer style I've seen. 2) The body is thicker than most electric guitars. Totally fun to play. A great guitar for beginners.

Great Beginner Guitar

By Jesse

from Chickasha, OK

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for over a year now and it still holds up great. I've dropped it way more then once and it has very few scratches. When playing it thru a clean and a using the neck pickup it souds like it has single coil pickups and i think thats great. Also when playing thru distortion it sounds just as good and heavy as my friends Ibanez, for half the price too. It's extrememly light and the killswitch is a nice addition. If i had to change something on this guitar it would be the pick ups. Other then that, it's an awesome guitar. Especially for the price too.

Epic axe of might & magic

By Josh

from Escondido, CA

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

This guitar flies right out of the box. Didn't have to do anything except for tune it. If you want to channel James Hetfield this is the guitar for you. Great fretboard, pickups scream, the body is cool, killswitch is totally functional. This Epiphone is worth every penny.

It's worth it's money, but beyond that...not so much.

By king666nothing

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

It is very light (almost feels like it's made of plastic), which can be a good thing for some people. But light weight almost always means not enough sustain. But the fact that it's made of mahogany partially makes it up. Pickups are not that good, but not bad either. Just average stock pickups. You will need a good amp or a good pedal to get some good tones out of it, 'coz pickups ain't gonna give it to ya.

Great!

By Nelson Brownguy

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

Not the worlds best pick ups but still sounds great. My favorite part about this guitar is that it's always distorted! I dont even have to turn on the overdrive, I just leave it on clean ;) Its also very light.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

maybe i got a bad one, but i went to the store to return mine and they gave me another one beause i liked the tone, which i messed around with. they had set that one up already and with both of them i was amazed at how bad the fret buzz was. decided to spend a few more bucks and just got a alpine white g-400. much happier with that

Nice

By biggmak

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

the shop i bought from here was a really good set up. The black color is not like a black color. it has a bunch of colors dependin on how you look at it. but anyways the nice humbukers are really good. the finger inlays are nice. The killswitch is a good feature. I recommend this guitar who wants a cheap price, and wants a explorer get it now or go home sad.

amazing little guitar!

By Jonez

from salt lake city

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

i got this about a month ago and i absolutley love it! it sounds great exept i put new strings on it. the strings that were on it when i bought it sucked. they were light and literaly had cracks in them. the pickups are great and the killswitch is also a nice addition. ive droped it and smacked it into things and it still has not a scratch. the body looks really cool. it normal just looks a dull black but when its in the light it has a red and purple color to it. its also light and easy to play. i would recomend this guitar to begginers or experinced players. i also recomend you get slinkys or some good strings for it. its a great guitar for the price and will go through hell for you. to sum it all up wonderfull little guitar!

Good Guitar

By Ryich

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

Its super light weight and is great to play fast riffs on the only problem i found with it is that it looks almost like a little kids guitar because it so small but its still a great guitar for the money.

Fantastic Guitar for Price & Quality

By Morse

from arroyo grande, ca

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

This is a surprise but then maybe not as epiphone has no 'cheap'guitars even if their price is low. The finish is so smooth as the back of the neck is black also but what a neck 25.5" scale. Found it easy to sit with really and am 5.11...What a nice finish and no fret buzz at all... will change out the strings, A grade 'A' guitar easily on low price because of where it is made not low quality. Love it

Pretty Darn Good

By Robert

from Hayward, California

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

Was looking for an inexpensive guitar to travel with and stubbled upon this at my local Guitar Center. I fell in love with it. It has a great sound (for the price, but will change out the pickups) and great tone. The guitar is really light, which makes it great to travel with but not so great when playing standing up - because the body is so light the neck tends to dip. Also, when strumming I sometimes come in contact with the volume control knob (accidently decreasing volume) though not a big deal since I just play for fun. Other than that, I love this guitar and I love playing it. The neck is fast and action is good (after I lowered it a little), tone is pretty darn good and so is the sustain. Turned out to be an awesome travel guitar.

Great for the price but...

By Caleb Elliott

from Dayton, Ohio.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

It doesn't hold up well. The guitar sounds great, right out of the box. It was tuned (Even after hiding in the closet for a few weeks until Christmas) almost perfectly. It's also very small, which was not good for me, seeing as I'm a little bit on the bigger side, and like wide necks. But, it looks fantastic. The paint is transparent, so you can see the wood underneath, which looks gorgeous. Now for complaints. The electronics sound nice, but fall apart quickly. I would strongly recommend replacing the pickups, as soon as possible, for integrity purposes. The tuning pegs also fell apart fairly quickly. Maybe mine was a fluke, but it happens. Overall, would recommend to a friend.

Amazing little axe.

By CHRISTOPHER

from Matthews, N.C.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

I just recently purchased this guitar new and no regrets. This little wonder sounds great, Epiphone did a nice job with this one. It has great tone, a super smooth body, a great neck with plenty of finger room for your highs and cool novelty killpot switch. I have only tuned this thing once since purchase even with some of the abuse i've administered. The only cons some may find is the body is a little small and the edges are rounded so if your going to lap this guitar it may slip out from under you. This guitar is no show stopper but its a blast to play.

Epi GT Explorer

By Roy

from Carrollton, Texas

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

Awesome look, really great price for a beginner guitar or for fun. Also including the ceramic wires, and 8 magnets makes this a steal. The GT KillPot is a great idea, seen on other quitars, but to use it, really nice.

Solid Guitar

By Jordan Delmonte

from Rochester, NY

Comments about Epiphone Explorer-GT Electric Guitar:

This is a good guitar for just really getting into playing. I bought this back in December and it was really fun to play. The strings should be replaced after a while because i'm finding their not too reliable. After 3 weeks, my G string broke...overall a nice guitar but if you have the money look into some higher priced guitars.
