Overview

The Epiphone Dot Semi-Hollow Left-Handed Electric Guitar builds on Epiphone's great tradition of archtops such as the legendary Sheraton and Emperor. Simplified controls and minimalist styling provide great functionality and elegant visual appeal while 2 humbucking pickups give this Dot semi-hollow guitar plenty of bite. Drawing on the classic 335 vibe, with maple top, back, sides, and neck, the left-handed Epiphone Dot dishes out hot blues and rock when overdriven, or thick jazz tones clean. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece provide more sustain and string changing easier.

A gem, and a hard working guitar.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Semi-Hollow Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

Epiphone has always seemed a bit hit-or-miss to me, as I love most of their designs, but you often get poor quality in exchange for a cheap price tag. I'm pleased to tell you that Epiphone has done very well with the Dot. Quite sadly they no longer make their famous Casino hollowbody guitar in left handed, though they have continued making the Dot, which is great to see, almost five years after I bought mine. Don't expect perfection out the box with this guitar, be realistic. If you are a serious musician you will want to take it to a tech for a full set-up and intonation (not usually expensive). Once it has been setup up properly, this guitar really begins to shine and come alive. Everything about this guitar not only sounds and feels great, but is also very useful. Playing through a VoxAC15, I find the pickup selector shapes the tone in a useful and dynamic way, going from warm, rounded, bell like tones (neck), to more cutting, sharper, easy to overdrive tones on the bridge pickup. The Dot not only does sexy, smooth and pleasent clean tones, but it also dirties up nicely! I love a little grit in my tone, and weather you prefer pedals or your amps natural overdrive, this dot sounds amazing distorted, fuzzed, overdriven, whatever your deal is. Unlike a fully hollow guitar, the Dot being semi hollow is quite stable, while still capturing that full warm tone. The two humbuckers are quite easy to tame and predict, so there is no need to worry about uncontrolled feedback and such. The Dot can be a beast if you so need, but it can also be a gentle, beautiful sounding instrument. My only pro/con: They neck is a bit thick, and while Im quite used to it now, some players may find it troublesome. The advantage is that you can easily reach very high on the neck. Overall, the Dot is a gem at this price for the left handed player. With a little setup love and minor maintenance, this guitar will serve you well. It didnt leave the case much the first year or so I owned it. Now its used heavily almost daily as my main guitar, and has been on the road with me many times, and will continue to be over the next few years I'm sure.

Sounds as Good As It Looks

By GitarMan

from Torrington, CT

Comments about Epiphone Dot Semi-Hollow Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I orderd this guitar on a whim. I was curious about the cherry color finish and I was interested in semi-hollow body style. When it arrived I opened the box hoping the color wasn't going to be gaudy. Well, I was pleasantly surprised to see the finish is actually transparent, the online pictures do not do this guitar justice. I plays as beatufully as it looks. The action was pretty good right out of the box. I would say the workmanship and detail is very good. If you want a relatively inexpensive semi-hollow body this is it! Epiphone has a winner!!

Great choice for lefties

By Donnie300

from Grand Blanc, Mi.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Semi-Hollow Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

Being left handed and on a budget makes finding quality equipment tough. The Epiphone Dot is a great choice on both counts. The set-up was off a mile when it arrived, but that was no surprise. Finish was perfect and Grover tuners were an unexpected plus. The only problem after 2 months is the E falling off the pickguard. The Dot looks and plays great. My friends that play wish they were left handed. Definitely a good purchase. Get your own.

A Great Value With Two Great Sounds

By John Yaeger

from Levittown, NY

Comments about Epiphone Dot Semi-Hollow Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

It's hard to believe the sound I get for the money I paid. It has lots of sound, but two that I find great: 1) It closly copies B.B.King's warm blues sound, and 2) Chuck Berry's clean treble sound. The only problem is that the Epiphone "E" came right off the pick guard. I expected this as that was also the case with the new one I tried at the store.

Great Guitar

By Mark

from San angelo Texas

Comments about Epiphone Dot Semi-Hollow Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar this past july. It was my first left handed guitar. Before then i have always played a right handed one upsided down. This guitar is awesome for its price range. It is very easy to play and sounds awesome on any style from punk to classic rock. I am saving up my money to get a Gibson dirty fingers pickup that will make this guitar sound even better than it already does. Great guitar from anyone who is a beginner or for an active player that cant afford a Gibson ES.

Decent Guitar at a Great Price

By Eric Lansing

from Palmdale, Ca

Comments about Epiphone Dot Semi-Hollow Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about five months ago and so far I have only had one problem with it. It needed to get a fret dress which shocked me because I only had it a short while and I take good care of all my instruments. All in all though it plays excellent and looks beautiful. Gotta love semi-hollows and their gorgeous tone.
