Thats right I said GIBSON I had a nice '335 back when I was a kid and sold it for a more rockin' guitar, sure would like to have that 335 back. But I gotta tell ya,I have a LP std. and a 1953 L4C(a ES-175 body with no PU's)And this little Dot plays just exactly like them.Never thought I would sing the praises of a Korean guitar, but I bought this Dot used at GC here in Fort Wayne. Tried a few other guitars, and was suprised to hear this beauty with rusty gross strings, sound more resonant with better harmonic accents than anything (although the alleycat with p-90's was close)I played in the price range. The pickups are the ones they put on the Epi LP-neck (can't play the Epi LP's necks feel like a bat) She's just broke in and in awesome condition but not new. Not a lick(pun) of trouble with it, don't think I've even adjusted the action(did intonate her though) If anything I might slap my old LP PAF on it just to see if it's any different. If you get a chance, play one of these, and don't let some punk tell you it doesn't look rockin enough. From Cream to Ten Years After to Frank Zappa this is a classic tone machine. The sustain block does make it heavier than a ES335 but with f-holes it can sustain forever, If you can't rock this Guitar, buy yourself a ridiculous hockey-stick black thing that you can't give away in 5 years when you grow out of it.Been at this guitar thing for 30 years now, so either I'm an old fart who likes old country lookin' guitars, or I speak the truth. But if want to play a great guitar buy one of these, if you want to play hockey buy a hockey stick.

This was my first guitar handed down from my dad. Great beginner guitar, really great actually. It's not too smooth to play and you really have to press as close to the frets as possible to get a clean sound which forces you to do so otherwise it sounds bad. The neck and the rosewood fretboard aren't too smooth, but overall, the guitar has a pretty good sound. I started with this on a $40 practice amp and I was quite happy. Well priced. I'm not a fan of hollow guitars, but it does have a nice jazz sound. This guitar will force you to develop good habits so great for starting. However, if you think you will progress very fast, after a while you will outgrow it and will be blown away by any top guitar like the american standard or les paul which makes you appreciate even more.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

This is a really good guitar, but probably not great. But it is a great value and I am glad to have it. The workmanship is really high and everything is very solid and unblemished. No rattling switches or wobbling knobs. Fretwork is well done. And it's just really gorgeous. It's design allows for a lot of right hand freedom without hitting knobs and switches with a very comfortable resting area for the right hand. However . . . Fretboard material quality is a little lacking on mine. The pickups sound duller than expected and the nut is cheap plastic. I don't find the neck to be all that comfortable; it feels a bit fat and the neck is painted and coated with gloss polyurethane which makes it hard to slide my hand. I seem to break the high E string over and over. All of that aside, I'm glad I bought it and I would do it again, especially for around $425. A little amazing it can retail for this amount. The basic instrument is a great foundation for upgrading components to make it sound like a guitar that costs 3X what it does.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

First thing you must accept is that this guitar is NOT a Gibson, but for the price point, it's a beauty. I always admired the cherry E335 since junior high school. I also own a Fender strat that I upgraded with Eric Clapton lickups, but due to a Father's Day gift certificate, I decided to buy the Epiphone guitar. After all, life is short. I was looking at the E339, but when I walked into GC, the E335 was on sale, so Itried it out and decided to pull the trigger. The store salesman said if I had any issues within the next 30 days, bring it in and they'll have their tech check it out. The next day, I felt I should make sure it was set up properly, so I brought it back. The tech checked it out and found a slight valley on the treble side of the fret board, so they ordered me a new one. A few days later the new came in and they checked it out and set it up. It had no imperfections. The staff at the Commack GC were great!

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

I am a rank beginner (emphasis on rank), so take this for what it's worth. I originally bought a no name piece of junk guitar that was difficult to get a decent sound out of, had terrible intonation, and was very difficult to play. The plan was to upgrade in a year or two. I do play ukulele and some piano, so I knew that an instrument that bad would slow my progression. Then I saw a used dot at a great price. I already knew that I wanted one, so I bought it. The instrument is beautiful, it had fantastic action, feels great in my hands and even I can make good sounds with this. I love it so much I am practicing my butt off just to be worthy of it. In short, worth every penny.

Nice action and a beauty but the frets were sticking out about 1/8 inch beyond the fingerboard. That's poor craftsmanship. Good tone for jazz. Decent guitar that I think will be my main guitar after I take care of the feet problem.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

The metal frets are so long that they extend past the fingerboard and could cause injury. That's poor quality workmanship. The sound is very good. Mine came with no set up. I will try to get mine from a store next time instead of ordering it so I can check these problems out in person before buying.

It's hard to believe that they can produce a guitar of this quality for this price. I have to be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but I received a very high quality instrument and the setup was perfect. Even better, I got 20% off during GC's Holiday Sale!

            I highly recommend.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for around 8 months now, and I must say this is probably one of the best guitars that can play from jazz to blues to rock, and so on. It has one of the smoothest necks I have played on and it sounds even better than it looks, and the finish is very pretty (I got mine in Cherry). Honestly, if I didn't buy it myself, I would have guessed it would be about $1,000. All in all, I am very satisfied with this product and would definitely recommend it. This guitar is worth it. :)

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

I got this in a natural finish and it is gorgeous. The translucent brownish-bronze knobs makes it even better. The tuners stay in place for a long time, maybe 1-2 months. Pickup and bridge becomes dirty and cloudy looking after a few months, which is probably the only down side to this guitar. The sound you get out of this guitar is unbelievable, neck pickups gives you a deep and loud warm sounds which is great for rhythm. Bridge pickup gives you a clearer tone but more chimy which is a plus for lead. I play classic rock such as The Beatles, stones, etc all the way to modern rock like the Arctic Monkeys and vampire weekend and the dot is great for it. But I bet it could play any genera you'd like. This is an amazing guitar without a doubt and one that will blow your mind for such a low price. Stunning with great sounds...epi dot
