Thats right I said GIBSON I had a nice '335 back when I was a kid and sold it for a more rockin' guitar, sure would like to have that 335 back. But I gotta tell ya,I have a LP std. and a 1953 L4C(a ES-175 body with no PU's)And this little Dot plays just exactly like them.Never thought I would sing the praises of a Korean guitar, but I bought this Dot used at GC here in Fort Wayne. Tried a few other guitars, and was suprised to hear this beauty with rusty gross strings, sound more resonant with better harmonic accents than anything (although the alleycat with p-90's was close)I played in the price range. The pickups are the ones they put on the Epi LP-neck (can't play the Epi LP's necks feel like a bat) She's just broke in and in awesome condition but not new. Not a lick(pun) of trouble with it, don't think I've even adjusted the action(did intonate her though) If anything I might slap my old LP PAF on it just to see if it's any different. If you get a chance, play one of these, and don't let some punk tell you it doesn't look rockin enough. From Cream to Ten Years After to Frank Zappa this is a classic tone machine. The sustain block does make it heavier than a ES335 but with f-holes it can sustain forever, If you can't rock this Guitar, buy yourself a ridiculous hockey-stick black thing that you can't give away in 5 years when you grow out of it.Been at this guitar thing for 30 years now, so either I'm an old fart who likes old country lookin' guitars, or I speak the truth. But if want to play a great guitar buy one of these, if you want to play hockey buy a hockey stick.

This was my first guitar handed down from my dad. Great beginner guitar, really great actually. It's not too smooth to play and you really have to press as close to the frets as possible to get a clean sound which forces you to do so otherwise it sounds bad. The neck and the rosewood fretboard aren't too smooth, but overall, the guitar has a pretty good sound. I started with this on a $40 practice amp and I was quite happy. Well priced. I'm not a fan of hollow guitars, but it does have a nice jazz sound. This guitar will force you to develop good habits so great for starting. However, if you think you will progress very fast, after a while you will outgrow it and will be blown away by any top guitar like the american standard or les paul which makes you appreciate even more.

It's hard to believe that they can produce a guitar of this quality for this price. I have to be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but I received a very high quality instrument and the setup was perfect. Even better, I got 20% off during GC's Holiday Sale!

      I highly recommend.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for around 8 months now, and I must say this is probably one of the best guitars that can play from jazz to blues to rock, and so on. It has one of the smoothest necks I have played on and it sounds even better than it looks, and the finish is very pretty (I got mine in Cherry). Honestly, if I didn't buy it myself, I would have guessed it would be about $1,000. All in all, I am very satisfied with this product and would definitely recommend it. This guitar is worth it. :)

Stunning in both looks and sounds... Epi Dot

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

I got this in a natural finish and it is gorgeous. The translucent brownish-bronze knobs makes it even better. The tuners stay in place for a long time, maybe 1-2 months. Pickup and bridge becomes dirty and cloudy looking after a few months, which is probably the only down side to this guitar. The sound you get out of this guitar is unbelievable, neck pickups gives you a deep and loud warm sounds which is great for rhythm. Bridge pickup gives you a clearer tone but more chimy which is a plus for lead. I play classic rock such as The Beatles, stones, etc all the way to modern rock like the Arctic Monkeys and vampire weekend and the dot is great for it. But I bet it could play any genera you'd like. This is an amazing guitar without a doubt and one that will blow your mind for such a low price. Stunning with great sounds...epi dot

Warning: This Guitar May Greatly Improve Your Playing!!!

          By

          from Lafayette, Louisiana

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

Since I was young I have longed for a good hollow body guitar. I bought a used Dot and what I got was not a good guitar, it was a great guitar! I have played 335's and numerous other brands but nothing beats this one for the price. It is almost as though she suggests new stylistic variations to all that I play. Yes I do think this is one of the best guitars available for the price. Try one but beware it will call you back and make you long for that fine full tone.

          First Guitar

          By

          from San Antonio, Texas

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

This was actually my first electric guitar, I combo-ed it with an orange practice amp, and from the start I knew I was going to love this instrument to death, it sounds and plays just like a gibson 335 and dont let anyone tell you otherwise; clean, driven, distorted, you name it, this guitar sounds great no matter what, the stock humbuckers are great although I am going to upgrade mine to 57 Classics soon for an even more immersing sound.

          Love It

          By

          from Fairfax, VA

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

I was a bit hesitant to buy such an inexpensive guitar. But, I picked it up and it felt great and I did it - and I am very pleasantly surprised. I have had my cherry finish DOT for quite some time now and have absolutely no complaints at all. The fit and finish is flawless. Set up and playability spot on. No issues at all with staying in tune or any other things that might come out over time. I love this little guitar. I do have some high-end gear and I am not at all ashamed to include this gem in the collection.

Don't see what people are thinking

          By

          from Gig Harbor Washington

Comments about Epiphone Dot Electric Guitar:

These things, and really all of the Epiphone hollowbodies in this price range really don't deserve the rave reviews they're getting. I went in to guitar center to try out some amps actually, and i'd read all the great reviews about these guitars, so i picked one up and immediately I found that I absolutely hate the neck shape. It's about the thickness of an average acoustic guitar, except that it's more of a d profile. What that means in case you don't know is that it's kinda flat making a more or less parallel face with the fretboard. (it's not as extreme as you're probably thinking, but it feels really strange) That shape is actually great, my les paul has that kind of shape, except when paired with the shear thickness of the dot's neck. Next, and probably just as important is that no matter what amp i plugged in to, i could not get the pickups to keep from mudding up unless i stepped off of the bass way too much. the only reason this gets even two stars is because, let's be honest, there's a huge cool factor behind these things, like ridiculously off the charts. Plus they're pretty. Anyway, if you can't afford any other hollow body, then get a job and buy something else.
