Bought my Cherry Casino Coupe a couple of weeks ago and I waited a little while before posting a review of it.

This is the first guitar I've owned with P-90 pickups and I wished I'd bought a guitar with these pickups before now. I play mostly gospel music at church and at nursing homes. I play mostly in a country/rockabilly style and this guitar really works well for me.

I own an Epiphone Dot, which is a 335 style guitar, and the Casino Coupe has the newer 339 size body. I really like the smaller size of this guitar; it is more comfortable to play that the Dot. I also like the fact that the output jack is where it ought to be, on the bottom of the body, instead on the face of the guitar as with the Dot. Quality, Fit and Finish are great and the guitar looks sharp in cherry. I like the tuners on this guitar as well.

Although the Casino Coupe is a hollow body, it doesn't seem as prone to feedback as other hollow bodies I've own; possibly because of it's smaller size. It sounds great through my Fender Vibrochamp amp and the guitar is a lot of fun to play.

The only problem I see with this guitar as shipped is the stock strings: the high E string started going flat and wouldn't stay in pitch at all. I prefer heavier gauge strings with a wound G string anyway so I changed them out with the D'Addario EXL115W strings I usually used and it sounds better with those strings than the stock strings and they do hold their pitch better. I might experiment a little and try some flatwounds on it in the future.

With the next few weeks once it's broken in, I intend to get the 339 style case Epiphone case for my Casino Couple.

If you are looking for a great playing electric with P-90 pickups, buy this guitar!

The coupe is a fairly good guitar for everyday use. The stock pickups don't sound great, contrary to what others on here have said. In fact, they are quite muddy sounding, and I hated them. I had to change mine out for a pair of custom wound American P90 pickups. Now it sounds ok. However, with the upgraded pickups, it's still not all the way there. I think it might need the wiring and pots changed to get it there 100%. It's not anywhere close to my Elitist Casino, and never will be. THAT guitar needs absolutely no improvement. As far as the smaller body size, the coupe doesn't sound as resonant/lively as my Elitist. Naturally, fit and finish are not even close to comparable. Epiphone advertises the Elitist as being custom shop quality. That's no joke. The build quality is better than my USA Gibsons. Still, the coupe is a fun guitar to play, inspiring, and keeps my Elitist from getting beat up. (I mainly play it unplugged.) The only other thing that bothers me about the coupe is that the neck is strange, dimensionally compared to every other guitar I own. It's a weird, wide U shape and harder to get my hand around than the Elitist and my Les Pauls. If you're looking to buy just one guitar; to have it as your main axe, I'd spend more money and get something better.

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This is the sound I was looking for. I have a Strat and a Les Paul and they sound great, but this Casino Coupe is the sound I was looking for. Plugged straight into a tube amp, no effects, set to clean just a smidge before break up using your volume knob to push you over that edge. Fantastic!

Being a hollow body, it's also loud enough (not acoustic loud) unplugged for quiet practice. Fit and finish are excellent. Not a single blemish, no sharp frets, no bad spots on the neck (filter made me edit the phrase I normally use describe dud notes on the neck). Intonation was very close right out of the box so set up was a breeze. Nut is cut/fit correctly. Machine heads allow fine adjustment and hold tuning well once you break in the strings with an hour or so of playing. Stock pickups are perfect (for my ears and the tone I'd been chasing). Volume/tone controls roll smoothly with enough resistance to stay put.

Epi's ES339 hardcase fits the Casino Coupe like a glove if you're looking for one.

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I own many guitars. High end Gibson's and Fender's as well as other pro brands. I own an Epiphone Casino. I wanted a Casino style hollow body with better access to top frets. This one has the same reach as an ES-335. The guitar arrived in near perfect setup. In Las Vegas, all guitars have to adjust to the extreme dryness of the atmosphere here. A little tweak of the truss rod got the guitar in stellar playing condition! The fretwork is perfect; the finish is beautiful and the pickups sound great!

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I'm an apartment player. I use it for noodling, practicing, jamming over songs and background tracks. It is light and comfortable and easy to play. I love the tone of the P90s with the small hollowbody thinline. I enjoy playing it more than my Gibson ES339.

There was fret buzz when I got it, but I took it back and some of the frets had popped, Guitar tech with a rubber mallet fixed the problem.

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar! I have had Casinos before but I really prefer the smaller body size (339) of this guitar. No flaws in the finish, no sharp frets or buzzes. Plays and sounds amazing. I may end up buying another one for my son since he likes mine so much. Epiphone makes great guitars and they are priced right.

This is an overall fantastic guitar. Smooth neck allows a buttery feel. Powerful and versatile sound capabilities. Incredible value.

Minor cons: top button placement causes strap to come undone (rectified with strap locks); low E and A have slight buzz; "natural" is yellow, not bone like in GC picture (disappointed, but not a deal breaker.)

Again, great sounding guitar that makes me want to skip work and play all day.
