The coupe is a fairly good guitar for everyday use. The stock pickups don't sound great, contrary to what others on here have said. In fact, they are quite muddy sounding, and I hated them. I had to change mine out for a pair of custom wound American P90 pickups. Now it sounds ok. However, with the upgraded pickups, it's still not all the way there. I think it might need the wiring and pots changed to get it there 100%. It's not anywhere close to my Elitist Casino, and never will be. THAT guitar needs absolutely no improvement. As far as the smaller body size, the coupe doesn't sound as resonant/lively as my Elitist. Naturally, fit and finish are not even close to comparable. Epiphone advertises the Elitist as being custom shop quality. That's no joke. The build quality is better than my USA Gibsons. Still, the coupe is a fun guitar to play, inspiring, and keeps my Elitist from getting beat up. (I mainly play it unplugged.) The only other thing that bothers me about the coupe is that the neck is strange, dimensionally compared to every other guitar I own. It's a weird, wide U shape and harder to get my hand around than the Elitist and my Les Pauls. If you're looking to buy just one guitar; to have it as your main axe, I'd spend more money and get something better.

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I used to be a semi professional musician, and I bought this to replace a 1966 Gibson es330 that I sold several years ago.. Truthfully, I didn't expect this to be anywhere near that guitar, but I was somewhat missing a hollow body. It plays very well, and even though it's been awhile since I had the ES 330 I believe these pickups may be better balanced and I like that the hollow body feedback is a little more controllable with the smaller body size. All in all, I'm very happy with the guitar, I believe it's a keeper. Being that I've always been somewhat of a guitar snob ( I still have 3 older Gibsons, and 3 custom shop Gibsons) that's saying a lot.

Awesome guitar - get one!

By Jon

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar. It is light as a feather and yet properly balanced when wearing it with a guitar strap. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the pickups are. I have no intention of swapping them out. The clean sound is beautiful and crystal clear, yet the pickups growl when the overdrive is engaged. The finish is beautiful as well. The only issue with the finish is around the f-holes. The sides of the f-holes are painted black, and this paint job is a little sloppy on mine. You wouldn't notice it unless you are examining the f-holes up close, so this does not really bother me. I am really happy with this guitar. I usually don't order (or pre-order) sight unseen, but am so glad I did in this case. Otherwise, i would still be waiting for these to hit the shelves. I have been wanting a casino for a while now, but when I saw these at the winter NAMM (via the internet) I decided to wait. Three things about a standard casino bother me. One, the neck joins at the 16th fret, two, the input jack is on the face of the guitar, and three, the (same old tired) color choices. The casino coupe 'corrected' the two most important of these issues for me. The neck joins at the 19th fret, so you can reach the upper frets. The input jack is on the side of the guitar, similarly to where you would find it on a Les Paul style guitar.

Fantastic

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

The Coupe is not "great for the money." It is just "great."I have nothing but glowing things to say about this guitar. I can't find one thing wrong with it. Fit and finish great. Pickups are out of this world. Light as a feather but great balance. Small body that fits me better than a full size ES style guitar. It has a very distinct sound but everything sounds great on this thing...blues, jazz, surf, Christmas tunes, and especially THE BEATLES. Can you tell I like it? Look, I am super pro-USA when it comes to buying guitars so it was really hard for me to pull the trigger on this MIC purchase. But I wasn't going to pay $2500 for a Gibson version. Besides I wanted a Casino, not an ES-390. And even though I've never played an ES-390 I can't for the life of me imagine what could make that guitar worth $2000 more than the Coupe. And if mine falls off the stand and snaps off the headstock, I'll find another GC 15% off coupon and buy another one. (my wife isn't reading this is she?) HA! The Coupe is the 6th ES style guitar I have owned in my life. Always loved the look but could never bond with them. Either body size didn't suit me or the pickups were an issue. Guess I'm a single coil guy through and through. This one is a keeper. I have barely played my beloved strats/teles/Jazzies in the two months since this one arrived. I owned a Gibby Les Paul with humbuckers for 3 years and didn't play it this much as I've played this guitar three weeks. Can't put it down. I don't want to sound like a epi fanboy and I don't work for Guitar Center but I freaking love this guitar. Oh, and even though the setup was passable out of the box, you'll enjoy it even more if you let a tech put a pro setup on it.

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Playing guitar for over 40 years. Purchased mine new in '06 at G.C. Play it less than I thought I would but I still have it. Bought the natural finish model and it didn't have a blemish anywhere. Beautiful guitar! The neck seems a bit narrow for my fat fingers. Guitar is light weight, so much in fact that it's neck heavy and not well balanced for my liking. Tuners feel cheap. Intonation was off, and the action was high. Took some time to get dialed in. That said, This thing is a tone monster! I primarily use a Fender Vibroverb Reissue and a Blues Deluxe with a few stomp switches. The P90's are awesome. I can't say enough about how great the Casino sounds. It's a lot of bang for the buck, and all things considered..........I still have it and don't intend to sell it any time soon.

This is an overall fantastic guitar. Smooth neck allows a buttery feel. Powerful and versatile sound capabilities. Incredible value.

Minor cons: top button placement causes strap to come undone (rectified with strap locks); low E and A have slight buzz; "natural" is yellow, not bone like in GC picture (disappointed, but not a deal breaker.)

Again, great sounding guitar that makes me want to skip work and play all day.

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Beautiful out of the box. P-90's sound very good, especially with a fully hollow body like this. It gives more power to an aggressive pick attack than solid body guitars, though not as much sustain. Setup and strings were poor out of the box. Bridge was so high it was unstable. Fingerboard binding had an obvious lacquer defect on the topside right at the 12th fret. How can you miss that? A couple of frets were too high (rocked) and needed filing and re-finishing. Then with re-set-up and new strings, it was a different guitar. Very nice sounding, easy to play and perfectly capable of being set up within Gibson specs or better. Plays well. Very light to hold when standing. For all the work I had to do, I should have got it at a lower price. But I'm happy with the guitar now.

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Returned 2 of them. After a few weeks, the first one had 2 hairline cracks near the headstock. Took it back and exchanged it for a new one. At the store, we examined the new guitar and everything looked fine. Took it home and the next day noticed 4 or 5 cracks in it. Seems like the cracks reveal themselves with handling. Poorly made if you ask me. Good concept on the coupe model, but you gotta provide quality. Cheap.

Very good sound and feature mix

      By Victor

      from Ventura, California

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I've been waiting for the Coupe since it was first presented at NAMM in January. I wanted a guitar like the full size Casino, but with better access to the higher frets and the Coupe is it - the neck joins the body at the 19th fret. I like to play unplugged sometimes and the Coupe's full hollow body provides good tone and plenty of volume. The P90 pickups also sound very good. There was a slight tendency for feedback with overdrive engaged but it was easy to control and over all the pickups are quiet. I opted for the Natural finish which shows the wood grain nicely on the front and back. The guitar is light and balances fairly well (I use a strap which provides some friction to prevent the slight tendency for the neck to fall). I would have preferred Vintage keystone tuners, but the small button chrome tuners compliment the chrome pickup covers and keep the guitar in tune just fine. I wouldn't normally buy a guitar without seeing/playing it first, but I chanced it on the Coupe and I'm glad I did. It definitely met my expectations and I recommend it to anyone looking for it's unique combination features.

      This is one great guitar!

      By Dax

      from Ft. Lauderdale FL

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I got my Casino Coupe about a month ago and it is one great guitar. I ordered this guitar in Vintage Sunburst sight unseen and when it arrived the fit and finish was excellent. I have seen Epiphone guitars that have flaws in the finish right out of the box and my Casino Coupe has none. I will second what the previous two reviews said, and that the cuts for the F-holes are a little rough, but its the kind of thing you have to really look at to see. The guitar itself is very light, much lighter then my Epi SG and my LP. I was worried that because the body is hollow that the it may be a little neck heavy like my SG, but its not. Its is very balanced and comfortable to play. My guitar came ready to play out of the box, and the P90s rock.

Inserted my 1st review in the 339 by mistake. This is my 3rd Epiphone. I purchased the natural Blond and must say that I am floored by her beauty! A large part of ones impression and pride of ownership is how one like the appearance and the way "it/she" feels and plays in your hands.
Again: Epiphone has a winner with this Coupe.. Very easy to reach the higher frets, the neck is "just right".
But: once you start playing....Wow!! Plugged in or not.. You no longer tied down with the need for expensive mega amps or effects pedal. The growls and tones this hollow body and pick ups are able to produce...
My Strats and RG's haven't been getting too much attention recently! For all my playing..This really rounds out my collection and is up near the top of my favorites.

Comments about Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar is fantastic. I knew I wanted it before I plugged it in. The sound is so open and clear and is very well represented through the amp. Initially had some issues with uneven frets but the fret level and pro setup were free. Can't beat that. The pickups weren't particularly astonishing at first and there was an issue where I had the volume on my Princeton set clean at the bridge but when I switched to the neck, it was straight dirt. They both started out fairly muddy as well. After polepiece adjustments, they are both clear as a bell and evenly matched. This adjustment was also included in the setup. This thing is great for the money and with a little work, it goes from great to superb.
