Really nice guitar but...

By JAMES UNGER

from Vancouver, WA

Comments about Epiphone Broadway Electric Guitar:

I have had my Broadway for 8 years. Love the look, love the way it feels, and love the way it plays. That being said, the pick ups are something to be desired. I swapped the pick ups with Lollar low winds. You can go cheaper and almost as good with the Gibson version. I have an $800 guitar that sounds like a 1957 Gibson worth a lot more. Another thing to know, is the tail piece is not very practical. YOu need a really long D string. Many brands don't have a long enough D string. D'Adarios D string is barely long enough to get a single wrap around the tuner. But it's a cool guitar to play doing a Chuck Berry kick hop across the stage.

Best Bang for the Buck for a Jazz Box

By Bill McMannis

from Asheville NC

Comments about Epiphone Broadway Electric Guitar:

I have owned my Epi Broadway over three years. This is a great guitar. Excellent fit and finish and a real value for the dollar. It is fine stock, but can be upgraded easily enough such as adding a tune-o-matic bridge. The Grover tuning machines are very good and should last for years and years. The pick ups are not bad, but this could be an item looked at to upgrade down the road as well as the pots. The PU selector switch is an Achilles heel, as is often the case with Epi's, but it can be replaced easy enough. Great tone. Nice solid neck: not for wimps.

Really Nice

By Dan

from St Peters, Missouri

Comments about Epiphone Broadway Electric Guitar:

What a lucky day.. I walked into the Guitar Center, Bridgeton, Missouri and they took in as a trade a beautiful Blonde Epiphone Broadway. Excellent Condition. Great Price and thanks to Brian again a great deal. The action was set perfect just needed a string change to a set of Flat Wounds reduced size to 11's very nice playable Guitar. Not for the Metal Head this smooth Jazz/Blues sounds. Can't put it down. The 3 way switch is a bit cheap click so a nice change there would definatly improve. The tone and volume pots are smooth with no static. Pickups are responsive easy to dial in the tone. Finish for this used Broadway is perfect not a scratch on it. Came with a nice hardshell case was a bit abused but sturdy and latches worked with no issues. I feel for the price I could do not better, half the price of a new one. I was looking at a Gretch Arch Top but I did much better. Great Deal

Vintage Epiphone quality!

By Mike McKean

from Orlando, FL

Comments about Epiphone Broadway Electric Guitar:

This is a superb guitar with traditional Epiphone features like the stunning headstock & fretboard inlays, that frequensator tailpiece and the big archtop body. At 17" wide, you'll need the Epiphone EJ case for a perfect fit. The Broadway truly benefits from its Gibson heritage; I compared Gretsch and Ibanez archtops and this one is so much more musical and resonant. It's a great match with my acoustic amp for Travis fingerstyle and comping, but can whip out blues leads and rock riffs with regular amps and effects. Thank you Guitar Center for having a reduced price floor sample waiting for me when I walked in the store!

Just bought one

By Neurodoc18

from Anaheim Hills, CA

Comments about Epiphone Broadway Electric Guitar:

After reading several less than enthusiastic reviews about recent L5 from the custom shop, I decided to look at Epiphone. This is really the most guitar for the money that I have found. The neck is so nice that the guitar plays itself. The action is nice and the tone is rich. I don't recommend it for "metal burners" or hard rockers. It's definitely a jazz gem.

EPIPHONE BROADWAY

By Crazyfever

from colorado

Comments about Epiphone Broadway Electric Guitar:

Good fat looking guitar, I just recently bought the natural finish on line one week ago. Wide range of sounds, for jazz and maybe blues. Nice low action. The only thing I really concern about is the bridge made of wood, very easy to wear out, probably exchange it for a classic metal bridge in the future, other than that I'm very happy with it.

Great Jazzbox for the $

By Keaggyfan

from Schererville, IN

Comments about Epiphone Broadway Electric Guitar:

If you are looking for an inexpensive jazzbox, this is it. The tones are very woody, rich and warm. The pickups aren't overly powerful, which is what you want in a jazz guitar anyway. The body is very resonant with some great overtones, but pretty resistant to feedback unless you are standing in front of your cranked amp--not what htis is made for. While the bridge pickup is not quite as useful alone, the neck pickup is especially rich and in the middle position, there are some great jazz tones as well. Put some flatwounds on this guitar and it will really come to life.
