Overview

Made to play the blues, the Epiphone B.B. King Lucille Electric Guitar features 2 humbuckers with stereo output to two separate amps (one for treble, one for bass) and a Vari-Tone control that tailor your pickup sounds.

The body is laminated maple while the maple neck has a rosewood fretboard with block inlays. Body, neck, and headstock are bound. The TP-6 tailpiece allows precise tuning. Gold hardware adds another classy touch, and Lucille's name is prominently displayed on the headstock to remind you never to run back into a burning building.

King’s singular tone has everything you’d want to hear in electric blues guitar—a bell-like ring with a hint of overdrive, soaring highs and gritty lows, and all driven home by King’s mighty left hand tremolo. The Epiphone B. B. King Lucille was designed by B. B. King himself and puts all the tone and nuance of King’s own favorite guitar in your hands.

Comments about Epiphone B.B. King Lucille Electric Guitar:

Plays great but had to do complete setup. Neck relief with 0.009 now, and action low with no buzz, she plays great with flatwounds 11's. Addario Chromes for the rythme style of smooth jazz, but, to each his own. Also had to set pickups to height. No feedback and feels good and easy to play. I play high end guitars and this one fits the bill but without the high cost. Love the dual jack outputs for two amp sterio. In all fairness, I love this guitar because of the low price and quality. I didn't realize Epiphone made such a nice guitar till a good friend in our band of misfits got one from a local talent on christmas as a gift. I have no talent just a few skills so this fits my wallet fine.

    Love it.

Comments about Epiphone B.B. King Lucille Electric Guitar:

I was looking for an inexpensive hollowbody, and found this. Wow. It sounds wonderful plugged straight into my Fishman SA 220 PA which is why I chose it. As a solo acoustic act, this lets me throw in some electric flavor and feel without lugging around another amp. I can also use the stereo outs to run it through the Fishman and a tube amp at the same time. I also have a American Standard Strat and a 76 Les Paul that sound bad through the Fishman. This guitar really works well. The Lucille is excellent driving a tube amp. The varitone is awesome at obtaining a lot of different sounds, but it does take some volume out as you proceed up the dial. You can adjust for this. It plays great, feels great, and sounds great. Intonation, tuning, and action are spot on. I am very, very happy I bought it. Thanks to GC in Fairview Heights, Ilinois!

    Soulfull, Sexy and Sound-acious!

    By JIM RALEIGH

    from NYC area

Comments about Epiphone B.B. King Lucille Electric Guitar:

OK, so the alliteration went a little too far. HOWEVER, this is one fantastic guitar. PROS -The Varitone. I know many people dislike it as it rolls output down when used; however, I think the ability to get a broader range of tonal characteristics for the hobbyist is a great way to explore and find one's "sound." -The neck. The one I received feels chunkier than one I had played previously, but it fits perfectly in my hand. Also, there were no buzzes or fret-outs even after I lowered the action. LOVE the headstock and nut cover. Tuners will most likely need to be changed at some point, but seem to be fairly solid right now. -Responsive. I was originally thinking of replacing the stock pickups with a pair of 57 Classics I have, however the new pickups are quite nice and I will continue to work with them until I feel the need to change them. -Just a dang sexy guitar... CONS -Okay, so the reason for 4 stars: the neck binding at the body join was not finished properly so it looks sloppy. I am also seeing some settling of the finish, which is revealing the grain of the wood. Minor details to be sure as they do not affect playability; however fit and finish should be better than that, especially on a guitar with a SRP north of $1,000. -Additionally, the action was set WAY too high out of the box. I simply lowered the bridge and was pleased that I did not encounter any fret-outs or buzzing. Intonation adjustment was relatively straightforward after lowering the bridge as well. All in all, I am very pleased with the guitar and would highly recommend it for those of us who do not make our living in music. Even for those who do, I feel this would be a great instrument for gigs due to its tonal versatility and playability. I would just like to see Epiphone raise their QC standards a bit as this is still a relatively expensive guitar.

    great sounds

    By Jerry Palladino

    from hudson fl.

Comments about Epiphone B.B. King Lucille Electric Guitar:

I love the sounds you can get out of this guitar. The varitone switch isn't just a gimmick. It just gives you many great options. This is the 2nd one from Guitarcenter. The first one had a crack in the top of the neck. Guitarcenter let me ship it back without cost to me and immediately sent me the 2nd one. I called Epiphone to complain since this was the 2nd Epiphone(the other an E-200) that had quality issues. Epiphone said it must have been damaged in shipping. However the box wasn't damaged and it was packed well. Epiphone is suposed to inspect and set up all their guitars. I think their inspector is Ray Charles. Guitarcenter did a fine job of correcting the 2 problems.

    Epiphone Lucille: A SWEET Deal!

    By John Harnett

    from Ojai, CA

Comments about Epiphone B.B. King Lucille Electric Guitar:

I received my new Lucille from Guitar Center as a birthday gift from my girlfriend. The first thing that one notices are, obviously, the cosmetics. Wow! Is this eye candy!! The finish is like a mirror, flawless and clear. The creamy white binding on the headstock, neck, front and back of the body set a strong contrast with the ebony finish that makes the appearance pop. The rosewood fretboard, with its beautiful block mother of pearl inlays, is buzz-free, smooth and fast while the frets have been perfectly filed and shaped. The gold appointments sing of style. The inlaid "Lucille" on the headstock and gold "BB King" truss rod cover add the finishing touches to make this lady the queen of my guitar collection! I cannot get over how versitile this axe is! The 6 position Varitone switch provides an incredibly wide variety of tones to choose from. The stereo output is awesome. One channel is for the bridge pickup, the other is for the neck. I plug the bridge pickup into my Fender Princeton guitar amp, and the other into my Peavy bass amp, and the tonal options that I have, literally at my fingertips, are incredible! The pickups ring with full tones, both bright and rich. When adjusting the volume and tone pots, the motion is smooth and crackle free. Lastly, tune-o-matic bridge and TP-6 fine tuning tailpiece are the ideal combination; once tuned, my Lucille STAYS in tune! Whether playing clean or distorted, I am able to get tones and harmonics that I had never dreamed of before. This guitar is not just another pretty lady; she's a sonic monster that has helped me reach new levels of musicianship that I did not think I could get to before. I highly recommend this axe!

    A True Classic

    By Jim Harbur

    from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about Epiphone B.B. King Lucille Electric Guitar:

Epiphone's B.B.King Lucille is a true classic in every sense of the term. It is a gutar of amazing versatility and can easily produce authentic jazz, blues and classic rock sounds. It can even put out a convincing country twang! I suppose that metal-heads might want to look elsewhere (unless you are looking to broaden your musical horizons!). The Varitone control let's you dial in an wide spectrum of sounds, but the warm, creamy growl of positons 1 and 2 are what most players will be looking for. The look is also classic: big, black and beautiful. Be prepared to spend a little time polishing her down ... the glossy finish does tend to show every fingerprint. Truly, for a great instrument and a genuine piece of music history, you need look no further than Lucille!

    Black Epiphone BBKing ES-345

    By JokerdeTejas

    from Texas

Comments about Epiphone B.B. King Lucille Electric Guitar:

I played one Gibson ES-345 with F hole that I like 30% more than this epiphone. Then I played a black Gibson BBking Es-345 that I like 30% less. Both of the Gibson ES-345 guitars were going to be 4X the cost of this. I tried this once and liked it. I tried a second time using the stereo plugs with 2 cords to two amps. I bought this epiphone for a good price and love it more everyday.
