Good sound, dubious quality

By Pop-pop

Comments about Epiphone AJ-200S Acoustic Guitar:

I brought my daughter with me to listen while I picked up a few guitars to play. I had the Epiphone in mind as it was priced for what I wanted, a kick around guitar. I have a few Epiphone's and this one is the least expensive and the best sounding. For kicks I picked up a $1,200 Ibanez of the wall and tried to see if the sound or the action was worth an additional $1,000 dollars - it wasn't. Even my daughter said that the sound was about the same. The "E" logo on the pick guard is cheap and started to pull off right out of the box. My daughter suggested that I bring the guitar back but, for that little imperfection I thought it wasn't really worth the ride back to the store. At any rate, for $200 this is one of the best guitars I have played. I own several acoustics and a gibson SG from back when I was a kid - 1964 and although I'm just a picker, I can play OK and would recommend this guitar to anybody.

Great Acoustic for anyone.

By Wes Cantner

Comments about Epiphone AJ-200S Acoustic Guitar:

This was my first guitar. I got for Christmas one year and have been pleased since. I did have trouble though, because of a nick in the bridge that caused the b string to break, but that was easily taking care of and i haven't had anymore problems. P.s. My Grandma has a Gibson that is similar to this model and when playing them both , you can't tell the difference.

great guitar-great value

Comments about Epiphone AJ-200S Acoustic Guitar:

I have owned, and played gibson, martin, mossman, and two custom made acoustics. The Epiphone AJ200S, right out the box sounded and played great. It and an Epiphone AJ200SCE, are my two main players now. I did have bone saddles installed in each, however, just my preference. This is truly a great sounding acoustic, at a great price.

Not too good to be true!!

Comments about Epiphone AJ-200S Acoustic Guitar:

I shopped around and went to a lot of stores in my area to narrow down a list of guitars in this price range. I couldn't find any negative reviews of this guitar anywhere. Not one. No matter how much the good ones glow, there is usually one disgruntled customer who mentions a very valuable warning about risks involved, but I could find nothing of the sort about this guitar, everyone it seems has great things to say about it. But no matter how good the reviews are, you just don't know if a guitar is for you until you get your hands on it and hear it. DO THAT. I did it, and it's really like everyone says. Not only is the action sweet and the sound nice and full, but it out-performed several much more expensive guitars I tried it against. And it totally blew away everything else in its price range, NO CONTEST! I even liked it better than the comparable Yamaha, which I had a strong biased for, since I was shopping to find a stand-in for my old SJ-180. I thought "what could possibly feel and sound more like it than another Yamaha?" Well the feel was almost there, but the sound was way off. 20 years of aging spruce gave old SJ an advantage that the new one just couldn't match. But the Epiphone felt BETTER. Less familiar, but there isn't much adjusting to do, and I like its feel more. Once I get used to it enough, its neck will feel like home more than the old SJ-180 ever did. And you won't believe the tone! Don't skip this one on your list--get your hands on this guitar before buying anything else! Most of you will probably fall in love with it right away.

Better than it ought to be...

By Eddie56

Comments about Epiphone AJ-200S Acoustic Guitar:

When this "baby boomer" looked for an acoustic to get me back me into a hobby that I dropped 30 years ago, I zeroed in on this one, for aesthetic and practical reasons. No, it is not as slick or refined as an authentic Gibson of the same type, but for the money it feels good, plays well and sounds better than it ought to. I did my research; you can spend two or three times as much and not have it be noticeably better, or any better at all. A great way to re-introduce myself to the music. Would buy this again in a heartbeat.

This Guitar Rocks!

Comments about Epiphone AJ-200S Acoustic Guitar:

This Guitar Rocks! Kudos to whoever down at Epiphone designed the AJ-200S. The thin neck is great for people with small fingers that can't stretch all that far. The thin neck also makes playing that much easier for beginners. The full body gives it great sound. I would reccomend this guitar to ANYONE, even if they are just starting out, or have been playing for years. All in all, a great job by Epiphone for bringing an affordable, quality guitar to the people. A+.

Epiphone AJ 200 s Acoustic Guitar

By K carver

from Long Island, New York

Comments about Epiphone AJ-200S Acoustic Guitar:

The epiphone AJ 200s is a well made acoustic guitar. The 200s delivers deep rich sound that is not readily available to consumers looking in the lower end price range. The Epiphone 200s is a solid contender! It offers a mahogany body with a solid spruce top and rosewood fret board. The action is low, but not too low! Bottom Line! A good guitar for everyone.
