Overview

The Epiphone AJ-100CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar brings the look and sound of the Advanced Jumbo to everyone. Guitar comes with standard AJ features such as a select spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a rosewood fingerboard. The AJ-100CE includes a cutaway body style and the Nanoflex pickup for electric amplification.

NanoFlex pickup
The term "Nanoflex" refers to its ultra thin (nano-like) profile and its flexibility that allows it to conform to any surface shape. This assures complete guitar-to-pickup-to-saddle contact. Unlike other undersaddle pickups, the Nanoflex design utilizes 7 highly-sensitive and ultraresponsive layers of sensor material to not only sense the vibrations of the strings but the vibrations of the guitar body as well. The Nanoflex is the first pickup to incorporate active amplification directly at the pickup. As a result, the signal does not pass through even a single millimeter of the wire and therefore, the signal quality is uncompromised.

Features
  • Mahogany body
  • Select spruce top
  • Set mahogany neck
  • Nanoflex pickup under the saddle and endpin jack
  • Rosewood fingerboard with dot inlay
  • Chrome hardware
  • 25.5" scale

I bought this guitar because well, I'm pretty rough on my guitars. A friend of mine told me about the quality of epiphone's and how they had eclipsed his pricey guitar's... I took his word for it..I got this guitar just 2 day's ago and I am very impressed. I didn't have any rattle or the string buzz that I had read in some reviews. This guitar has a bright tone. The action is great too!! Trust me, if you don't want to break your wallet but want great quality, this is the way to go.

Very nice guitar, excellent customer service

By DAN DORRIS

from Hot Springs, Ar.

I had initially ordered a PR150 at a screaming deal and was notified that it was on backorder (expected at the very low price). I then decided to step up and talked to Amber (CS) and she walked me through the whole process seamlessly and offered another screaming deal. The guitar arrived and upon inspection I saw that it was very attractive with no physical flaws. The next thing I noticed was that the strings had once been used to hold up the Golden Gate Bridge (expected and I have 3 different setsa to try). I tuned it and hit the strings----WOW, despite the lousy strings this guitar had some very long sustain with a nice sound. I then checked the intonation---perfect up and down the fretboard. Having said all this YMMV. I will be playing it a bit and letting it acclimatize to this Central Ar. environ. I will then remove a very slight bow in the neck, dress the frets and install a lowered TUSQ saddle (I am not a guitar repairman, only a parts changer who likes to use his hands). The 5 stars is for the whole experience with customer service and the value/price point ratio of this guitar---once again YMMV. This is going to be a present to a luck graduate

Great Guitar

By D Packard

from Rockville, Maryland

My guitar instructor recommended this guitar and it is great! I just started learning to play guitar, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on my first one. I am very happy with it.

Most impressive

By Walter Ratajczak

from justice, illinois

I'm very much a beginner and this is my first guitar, that being said, i really enjoy it. it has a very nice sound and so far the action seems fine. I was very impressed with the care taken in shipping, I bought a case at the same time and they placed the wrapped guitar in the case before shipment, once it got it tuned up i was hooked. I have a lot of friends who are musicians and every one of them liked playing it, they made it talk far better than i can at this time. I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a good quality, solid guitar, whether you're a beginner or advanced i'm sure you'll find just as much to appreciate about this guitar as I do.

Trusted name, great price

By Danny Kopel

from Los Angeles, CA

First off, I am a keyboardest, But wanted to Jam with friends who drop by play guitar. I play with and look at and see many many guitarests and their equipment. So, I googled for best inexpensive accoustic guitar,, narrowed it down to Epiphone (Gibson) and found this to be the best deal. Folllowing weekend my son-in-law came over. He's played forever and is very good, and has a typical collection of amazing guitars at home. I showed him my new purchase Epiphone AJ-100CE. His eyes widened, & he checked it out. Fist thing he said 'Wow you got a great guitar' We went over all the features like in the ad discription and he was very , very impressed at the quality, action & price. Said he might just have to get one for himself. I was happy with the response, I kinda knew that I made a good choice just by my visual inspection, everything they said in the ad was true, and it sounded real good also, under the fingers of someone who knows what they are doing. But having a player endorse my purchase was the best.

Great guitar

By Jesse Yoon

from North Las Vegas, Nevada

I've only played this guitar once, but I've got to say that it's the best acoustic I've laid hands on. I have a cheaper model Yamaha acoustic, I've played a Taylor, but this one wins with it's low action (I'm a freak for low action) and bright sound. It just sounds so crisp, and it reminds me of fall. I haven't played it hooked up to an amp, which is why it's rated 4 stars, but for just acoustic playing, it's a really nice choice. Might save up for this piece of work.

Wow Factor at a Great Price.

By Alan

from Las Vegas, NV

I bought this for myself for Christmas, upgrading from a 40-year-old Yamaha (I kid you not), complete with worm and gear tuners, half wound, half nylon strings, and no straps. So for sure, this was quite an upgrade. The guitar comes as shown, complete with a cable, manual, warranty form, and of course, the guitar. Out of the box, once I had it tuned up, it sounded pretty amazing already. I didn't bother to use the stock cable; I borrowed my brother's. I ended up replacing the strings two days later with Ernie Ball 2221s. With the AJ-100's pickups, which work off of vibration instead of magnetism, you don't need to worry at all about metal strings on it. Amazingly, it sounded even better with these on, and they have stayed in tune for weeks! The only qualms that I have is that the strap pegs are really tough to get a strap onto. Or maybe that was just my strap. Also, Epiphone's warranty policy took me a few reads, but I think that you can apply for your warranty either through the included mail-in card or online. It's never explicitly stated though. Overall, I love this guitar, and will continue to love it as much as the first time that I strummed down on it come early Christmas morning.

so good so cheap!

By Caleb

from ocala, Fl

strings rattle a bit in dropped c, but dropped d it's perfect. sounds amazing compared to higher priced guitars. ive played ibanez, fender, and talkamine acoustics and this one is right up there. it's got a very warm and clean sound to it. It stays in tune for ever. I've had mine for almost 3 years now and I'm glad i bought it! (and idk why you would want distortion on an acoustic guitar..? not what its made for)
