A great playing guitar with looks and sound that rocked back in the day.

Original Wilshire guitars command incredibly high prices in today's collectors markets. Now Epiphone has brought back this highly playable electric guitar in an affordable package without sacrificing quality. The 1966-style Epiphone Wilshire has all the great features and style that made it a standout guitar back in the day and has a cool distressed finish with the look of an instrument that has been there and back again. The Worn '66 Wilshire has a set slim-tapered mahogany neck on a double-cutaway mahogany body that gives access to the entire 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The mini-humbucker pickups deliver that warm, gritty vintage sound that defined rock 'n' roll. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece add more sustain and make string changing easier.

I was looking for a new guitar to replace the one I got for my 11th birthday, which was worn and deteriorating yet still loved. I found this and i have to say I could not have chosen a better guitar. The price discrepency is odd, however, I bought it for $250 at GC. But either way, a great one to own.

  • All Wilshires are not the same.

As reviewed by Steve on 3/26/2011

I was in the process of buying one of the Pro Wilshire Epiphones, when I just happened to read a review talking about the "Pro" version versus the "worn"or LTD. version. The Pro version has a baseball bat neck, even tho they say slim tapered in the ad,the knobs are different, and the pick-ups are VERY different. This explains the price difference. They should be much more clear.Do your homework.Check out the pictures of both and you'll see.I still ordered the worn edition with P90s and a real slim tapered neck.I love the Epiphones. They are good quality and low priced for poor man like me.

  • Becareful of this one

Only problem I can for see is that the power plug will crack the plastic over time. It was stupid of Epiphone to put the cord jack in the pick guard. How much more money would it have cost to actually put it in the wood.
