The most tone 100 bucks can buy
I picked up one of these, with the matching extension Cab. I plugged in a cheap Mex-Strat at the store, and after playing 2 chords,I was ready to buy it. When I got home then it got even better, with my 74 Strat(not a reissued) and HS3 pickups. This is the best Tone=Money ratio ever. I've played Marshalls, Fenders, Mesas, Peaveys, you name it, but this is as close as it gets to that "tone in my head". There are a million mods to hot rod this little beast too, I'll be buying 1 or 2 more in a few days. I love the matching cab too. The more I play it the better the speaker sounds (it's starting to break up already) Do yourself a favor and get one, it wont even make a dent in your pocket.

Marshall and Mesa are Safe
Simply, this is a good sounding and inexpensive TUBE amp head. Will it get you to tone Nirvana? No. But it is very capable at lower volumes in producing a nice warm clean sound. As you gently roll the volume upward you can unleash a down and dirty blues grind tone. It isn't very well suited for rock unless you add a stomp box in front. However, this amp offers you the ability to turn up a tube amp to its limit without being evicted from your house. It breaks up in a pleasing way that isn't at all smooth. For the money, this a fantastic amp that has plenty to offer for the right player.

A Wolf in Sheep's clothing
I went to the new Guitar Center in Cedar Rapids 2 weeks back and saw they had a valve junior head. I plugged it into a peavey 4x12, cranked the volume all the way up, cranked the volume knob on the Les Paul I had and hit an "A" chord. HOLY COW!! It was bloody loud for 5 watts, and upon playing with the volume knob on the head, full of tasty tones all the way around, from sparkling clean to full-on old Marshall style crunch. I couldn't resist it, and took one home. I actually GIGGED with it last Friday night. It was just loud enough to keep up with the drums & bass, and it loves stomp boxes too! I used a Boss Super Overdrive for lead boosts, and it worked like a million bucks. It sounds particularly nice with a Strat played through it. Just pick one up before they're all gone...I'm gonna get another one and run stereo with my 2 2x12 Texas Heat loaded cabs.

Rings like a bell
Nice clean tone that rings forever! It doesnt get any more simple then this. One volume knob and thats it. Super clean tube tone sounds fantastic with all my guitars. Starts, SG, RG, This would be a great recording amp. At volumes lower then 10 o'clock, amp is really clean. Over 12 o'clock will get you classic breakup of the 60's. It's the best amp to come out in years.

Fabulous Little Amp
One knob. Two tubes. 5 Watts. Class 'A' Simply Fabulous little amp head. But you'll probably need an EQ. I do. Really nice well built amp. Buy one before Epiphone realizes what a winner they've
created, and raise it's price. Even the cabinet alone is worth $100.00! So, Don't think, just BUY IT NOW!!! You'll be glad you did. even if you don't like it and 'flip it' you wont lose a cent.
BTW, it needs speaker(s): It's just the head.

RE: Epiphone Valve Junior Head
Let me just say, THIS THING ROCKS! Just got it today and I can't believe it. This is a must have. Of course it's not a Bassman or a Plexi or whatever, but it's THE BEST 100 bucks you'll ever spend on gear.

Amazing
This amp is a one-trick pony.
But when that one trick is Class A Tube Overdrives, what more do you need?
I had a Vox AD30vt that the DSP had died in. Unfortunately, the amp just doesn't work without it, so it was junk. I figured since I normally used one of the clean amps with the gain way up and liked that sound better than any of the models, I'd try this amp.
It sounds amazing going into that Vox 1x10, better imo than the Marshall cab I tried it with at GC. I get blusy tunes with it and my SG with the stock tubes that are to die for. Originally, I was planning on picking up an EQ, but there's no reason.
And the thing is insanely loud through that speaker. I've got to get an Air Brake so I don't get kicked out of my apartment.
And at $100, there is no reason not to own one.

Epiphone Valve JR Head
This amp is almost perfect!!! I came pretty close to unlocking that tone in my head a few days a go when I bought this amp, it sounds amazing with my Washburn hollow body and knock-off Les Paul. The high output chrunch is perfect for classic rock song. I hope you find this review helpful.

Great head!
I actually bought the half-stack, but I thought it was worth writing another review specifically for the head. It sounds great. The 3 speaker outputs (4, 8, and 16 ohm) allows you to hook it up to pretty much any cab. It's got good distortion even at relatively low levels. Plenty of volume. One word of caution: If you get no sound, the tubes may be loose. They have a tendency to vibrate loose during shipment.

a great head
i bought this head and the matching cab, and let me tell you it is great. at low volume you get e beautiful clean tone, very warm. at about 12 o'clock on the volume its starts to break up, its a very gritty break up with ALOT of low end, so much in fact that when i really crank it, i have to use an eq in front of it, i have a digitech overdrive pedal with controls for high and low, that pedal and this amp work wonderfully together. leave the amp at about 3 o'clock with the pedals level and high knobs maxed, the gain knob at zero and the low knob at about 3 and when you hit the pedal youve got a GREAT solo tone, stomp the pedal off and your back to a crunchy rhythm tone. for the price this amp cant be beat
